The colorful décor and nostalgic touches throughout the dining room create a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels more like sharing a meal with family than dining out. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated that they were bilingual, making everyone feel comfortable and at home. We shared the Bandeja La Casa del Mofongo con Tostones, loaded with chicharrón de puerco, chicharrón de pollo, masitas de cerdo, salami, and queso. At $22.99, the portion was incredibly generous and easily large enough to share. The meats were flavorful and well-prepared, with the pork perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside. The tostones were fried to perfection! If you're craving authentic Dominican cuisine , La Casa del Mofongo is definitely a place worth adding to your list.

And the parking lot out front is very busy. Past the entrance, there's a sit down dining room and even a full bar. We seated ourselves. They brought over menus. It helps to have a bit of Spanish here. I ordered their shrimp in garlic sauce (camarones al ajillo). The shrimp in sauce was on a separate plate. For sides, it came with yellow rice mixed with veggies and sweet plantains (maduro) . I could have scooped up the garlic sauce with a spoon -- absolutely delicious! The shrimp were firm and fresh. The plantains nicely caramelized and sweet. My husband got a beef steak with onions. He said it was a little dry. I happily shared some of my garlic sauce with him. And that helped. I really want to go back and try some of their other dishes -- there were some things displayed that I didn't see on the printed menu. I'll remember this lunch for some time.

And I cannot forget the freshest tostones ever! Fried to a golden crisp and did I mention fresh? My husband ordered the chicharron de pollo (fried chicken chunks) that were well seasoned and crispy. He also got the tostones. I ordered a classic mojito which tasted great, although the second one didn't taste as good so small inconsistency there, but they were reasonably priced too. Open arriving at the parking lot and seeing how deserted the place was, I had a feeling in my gut we had chosen the wrong spot. Came in and we're sat right away. There was only another couple dining in at that time, on a Saturday at 6:30pm. Against my better judgement, we sat down and browsed the menu. We decided to order and make the best of our evening. The menu had several dishes that didn't sound like a bad idea. Service was great but then again, it was just us. Lol. We dined in for approximately an hour and within that time, another couple came in. Appetizers and courses came out very quickly. We had the yuca empanadas for our appetizer. They were really greasy but not horrible. For our main course, I had the mofongo stuffed with churrasco and a side of tostones, my husband had the fried pork chunks with white rice and red beans. My churrasco was a bit fatty and chewy and the mofongo was on the dryer side. We both ordered cocktails, they were both very heavy on the alcohol but not too bad. I'm almost certain we will not be visiting again but I'm glad we checked them off of our list.
