I recently visited this post office to get my fingerprints done. While waiting, the postmaster (or a company employee who seemed to be in charge) loudly called for additional help up front because some staff who should have been there weren't present, trying to get the line moving faster. Eventually, Cindy assisted us. She was a bit curt at first, but things became less awkward once the fingerprinting process began. The fingerprint service costs $50, but you must register beforehand and bring a barcode and confirmation number to be serviced. I also learned they offer passport and other identity services, which is convenient. Just keep in mind they close at 3p on Saturdays, which is earlier than many other locations. Overall, it was an okay experience, but coming prepared with your registration details helps expedite the process. read more

This post office is the worst I have ever experienced. And I've experienced quite a few. There is a woman who works there, Leba, I believe. Avoid her at all costs. I sell books, live in Riverside, work in Lagrange. Because of what I do for work, I frequent several post offices, including, Riverside, Berwyn, Lyons, and never again, Lagrange. A couple of months ago, I stopped there to quickly mail a book. I explained kindly that my printer was wonky and the employee (the dreaded Leba) might have to manually type in the label number. She looked offended by this and quickly replied that she could not do that. It was not her job to type in the number, only scan it. I told her the only way this would ship if she could please type it in. Her response became, "I'm not allowed to do that." Finally, in a moment of desperation I told her that the employees of all the other post offices I frequent type it in. She maintained she was not allowed to do so. I went to a different post office where, not only did the employee happily type in the number, she told me that the employee in Lagrange absolutely should have done this. She said it was in fact, her very job. This employee then told me she had to go to the Lagrange Post Office on occasion because she lives there and sometimes she has to retrieve a package, has worn her uniform, popping in after work, and has experienced not only unacceptable rudeness but also racism. Lagrange Post Office has been such a repeated horrific experience for her that she has addressed it to the Postmaster himself. The POSTMASTER himself! Today I was on my lunch break and ran in. I was set. The address label is on my phone; only a scan is needed! I was confident. After waiting in a short line for a long time, it was my turn. Leba immediately looked at my shipping box (an Amazon box) and told me to step out of line and sharpie out any areas of the box that had a code on it. What? I almost exclusively use Amazon boxes to ship the books I sell and have never been asked to do this by any other employee. Please remember, I'm at different post offices weekly, as recently as yesterday, shipping in a used Amazon box. I stepped out of line and sharpied over everything she found offensive on the box as she loudly and rudely repeated to "Look at the door. It's a rule!" The gentleman behind politely let me step back into line and I handed her the box. As I left, she was still yelling at me to look at the door. I have worked in various forms of customer service for years. I'm extremely polite to everyone behind a counter. If you are hoping for a positive post office experience, avoid Lagrange at all costs. They clearly get all their employees from the Island of Misfit Postal Employees. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I avoid this post office at all cost now. They are very picky about the items you ship. I reused a box to ship and it had one small logo on the box and the lady refused it. Which I understand, however her attitude and lack of help from her was unkind. I drove to another post office and they offered help and provided me a sharper and sticker to cover up the label. I will never ever come back here, I rather drive 30 minutes away to another post office then come to this one. I wish I had her name, but she was a white older lady. if I could give this location zero stars I would. we just had the most horrible experience trying to get a passport and a passport photo for our daughter. While waiting in line we witnessed the employee, Cindy, being not only rude but straight up mean to customers before us. When it was our turn we were met with the same horrible attitude. She refused to help us despite having all the necessary documentation. She berated me for not having an appointment however, there is no way to make an appointment online (system down), phone number keeps redirecting, etc. She was so mean, rude, rolled her eyes at me despite literally just asking how to proceed. She just said well I cannot help you. We have never been treated like that in a public place. This post office needs to evaluate her forward-facing role. Cindy is not qualified to interact with other humans. Unless you feel like being treated like garbage for no reason whatsoever, please find an alternative location for your postal needs. read more

Even with patience and kindness this staff is consistently mean/rude for no reason. I showed up at 6:10 to purchase a festive envelope from the retail area (retail area closes at 6:30 when the counter closes) and the woman had already locked it up and refused to open it for me. If you don't like people, you should not have a public facing role. read more

Warning to Poshmark users - don't leave anything with Cindy, she has it out for us. She's a miserable, horrible woman that clearly hates her job and gets joy from being nasty. I've been shipping Posh for 10+ years through USPS in other IL suburbs and the city of Chicago and have only encountered problems since moving to LG (recently) and dealing with this woman. I had bought stamps at Costco and placed them inside my coat pocket. The stamps were accidentally left in the coat when it was laundered.The stamps were ruined but still inside the sealed package. The USPS manual clearly states that such ruined stamps are to be replaced when presented. However, I had to go through a lot of BS with Jay, and other "managers," before ultimately speaking to the Postmaster - who actually had to look up the reference - who approved the replacement, "this one time." This post office has claimed that packages have been delivered to me and they have not. The first time, the tracking # says it was delivered but we didn't receive it. I took my tracking number up to this post office and they found my package in the back (even though the tracking said it was delivered). I'm having this issue again, except my package is not in the back this time. I had to go up there twice because the supervisor was supposed to call me about it and she did not. So I went again a few days later. They say they don't have it and it was delivered because that's what their scan/tracking says. I'm having a hard time believing it because of prior experience. If it happened once, I'll accept it. But now this is twice and not acceptable. I do not have any issues receiving packages from UPS, AMAZON, OR FEDEX at all. Only this post office. She said that one of the other delivery service people could've stolen it. SMH Nobody takes responsibility and she didn't really care. Sad. read more

I have to compliment the LG USPS service. Yes, their may be a line but when it's my turn I have been well taken care of my the staff. Recently, Jay, a supervisor, has helped clear up a forwarding issue. Kudos! Today, our usual rural type service was disrupted by our mailbox being knocked off by ice and the plowing. Today's carrier went the extra mile and delivered today's mail to our door. Much appreciated! Keep up the good work. We do appreciate the USPS more than we ever say out loud! read more

I am so disappointed with the LaGrange Post office and carriers. In the last month they have not picked up at least four of my scheduled pickups. I have complained and complained. I have been given the excuses that we have a new carrier on the route and tonight when I called the post office I was told their internet was down and that he was going to call the carrier to come pick up. I told him that I can see when the mail truck comes from my house. Tonight, the carrier drove right on by. I should be refunded my postage. I am going to start looking into other ways to ship. This is just ridiculous! For the amount of money they charge for shipping, we deserve better service than this! read more

I sure do miss our previous postal service worker at this location! Came in with a medical package (3.30 oz) for 1-day Priority Mail Express @10:45am on the 7th and asked for signature. Was told by staff 3 times it would arrive in the AM next day. Charged $26.35. Today is the 9th, it is 1:00pm (est) and package has not arrived. Called the office and spoke with same person. Very rude and impatient. I just asked how to file for the refund. She completely messed up our request (delivery was guaranteed for 6 pm instead of am next day and waived the signature). Will NEVER use this location again. In fact may need to use UPS or FEDEX even though may cost more. Local staff are much nicer to work with. read more

I regularly use this post office, I will also say they are regularly VERY slow. There is often a line of 4+ people when I go, usually there is only one computer (of the 3) open. I have tried to use the automated box but typically get lost in the menu and give up. I will say on the plus side they have a great greeting card selection. Not much else to say, bring your smartphone and a movie or two because you're gonna be waiting. read more

I have had the same experience as Farrah f. with flat rate packages. In every other post office I use (Western Springs, Clarenden Hills, La Grange Park) I have no problem mailing flat rate packages. Cindy at La Grange P.O always gives me a hard time about it and charges me at least twice the price I pay at other post offices. This is her new power trip. A previous one was making customers sign the back of their credit cards. She would not accept cards that said See ID. If she was doing this to prevent identity theft I would be fine with it. But no, she never asked to see ID or anything like that. She just really gets off on giving customers a hard time. The post office even had a sign made up about signing your credit cards so she can point at it. You won't find that sign in any other post offices. She is also just plain rude to customers all the time. But I wrote a complaint about her being rude to customers years ago and I never got a reply and she still sits there. Being mean and getting paid by taxpayers. And her supervisors know it and do nothing to change it. I live in La Grange but I avoid my own post office unless absolutely necessary. read more

The carrier who services our area is the worst. He lives on his cell phone constantly mixing up the mail with other residents. The latest when you have postage due have the exact money you owe, he has no change and he keeps your change what you have coming back. I have complain to the Post Office with no satisfaction. I am not surprised at the low rating for this post office. I have used this post office for almost 30 years. Today the line was all the way to the entry door and only one person serving. Finally after about 20 minutes they added another person. When I finally got to the service desk I was told to go off to the side to fill in my certified mail form. I informed the lady at the desk that I would have filled in the form had they been available because I had about a half hour wait to do it in. She acted surprised that the forms were not available and told me to wait off to the side. So I had to wait another 10 minutes while she took someone else who also had a certified mail item. To LaGrange Postmaster, We are residents of the 900 south 6th Avenue block of LaGrange, IL 60525. We are concerned for the protection of our neighbors, mail and mailboxes that are at the curb on our block. In the past, we have had our mailboxes damaged by snow plows, parked vehicles and vandals. We have had mail stolen from our mailboxes and have experienced mail delivery into the evening. When visiting cars park in front of our mailboxes, our mail is not delivered. People on the west side of the street have to walk across the street in terrible weather at times to get their mail. When heavy snow on the street has been plowed, there is a mound of snow left blocking residents access to their mailboxes. Some of these people are elderly. They should not have to go out to the street and shovel frozen, slushy snow. We feel that this is unsafe. Some residents working odd hours can't get their mail during the daylight hours. This invites thieves to steal mail under the cover of darkness. All issues mentioned above have happened and have been documented by LaGrange Police Dept. and reported to LaGrange post office. In addition, there was no mail delivery on July 6th. Today is July 13th and it is 6:50 pm, still no mail. Yet, I saw a mail truck 50 yards to the north of our block. 800 south 6th gets mail delivered to their house. We are not 2nd class citizens! Update: Today Sept. 28 2020, no mail delivery at all. Tracked package on website says they attempted delivery at 7:50PM, but could not deliver. From your tracking site "We attempted to deliver your package at 7:50 pm on September 28, 2020 in LA GRANGE, IL 60525 but could not access the delivery location. We will redeliver on the next business day." Hey usps , no one even came down our block. I was by my front window all evening and never saw a mail truck. Are we now not getting mail on Mondays? 2 days ago usps put a package in my box for the house across the street, again! We obviously prefer delivery to the home, just as 90% of LaGrange does, not the curb. At one time we were told that curbside mailboxes are the norm because we had no sidewalks. We now have sidewalks. And we paid dearly for them. We would like our mail delivered to a mailbox mounted on our houses or stair railing. Any thoughts on that? read more

Customer service is clearly not on anyone's radar here, but the lady staffing the counter is clearly RUDE. The last time I was in, I watched her grumble and argue with each customer as their turn came. In most places, they lock the doors at closing time but continue to serve customers who are already inside and in the line. I was inside well before 6:30 and the lady just rolled down the counter screen in my face when it was my turn - no greeting or apology or anything. This post office is far the worst I have ever been due to one person working there. She is always rude and very unhelpful pretending to follow post office rules but ending up frustrating everybody. God forbid you forgot to bring tape with you, she will tell you to buy one for $5. If you packed in express envelope but purchased priority label at home she will refuse to ship package or will charge extra! And yes you can pack in priority mail envelope they will give you on spot, but then if you do not have tape to replace your label on new package, you need to buy it for $5...LOL...They never have priority envelopes displayed there that supposed to be free, only express. Next time I simply put her name on yelp so everybody knows who she is. Shame on you! We live in such a nice town La Grange and we hope to come to local post office and feel like family. If zero stars were possible thats what this post office would be receiving. I have never been treated with such disrespect in my entire life. I manage a store in the area that does a lot of online business. Our mailman (whose name is Mike) is GREAT. He is a funny guy who never has a harsh word to say about having to haul 2 or 3 bags full of packages for us 6 days a week. The problem comes whenever I have to deal with someone else who works at the post office, be it on the phone or in person. I have been yelled at and called a liar on numerous occasions when I try to find out why my packages are not going out, getting "lost" etc... Today I called this location to check on a package I had shipped to a friend down in Houston, TX. I paid for priority express delivery which said it would arrive to my friend in 2 or 3 days. Upon checking the tracking information I found that supposedly my package had been sitting at a sorting facility since the day I shipped it (3 whole days ago at this point). When I called I was very polite, I said "I am sorry to bother you but could I ask a few questions?" the line was dead quiet so I repeated myself and was very rudely met with a deep sigh under her breathe and a very very rude toned "How can I help you?". The tone in her voice was as if she was doing me a favor just by answering the phone....THAT IS HER JOB. She is a government employee with an above average salary talking to a person whose business literally spends over 1000 dollars in week in shipping. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. I hung up on her and vowed to start using the post office one town over, even if that means I need to lug all the bags of packages there myself on the train. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more

Just visited La Grange post office as I was trying to setup informed delivery and couldn't get online verification working. I wasn't expecting much but wanted to try getting USPS website support from the local post office and use the in person verification. The person at the window was polite and friendly with me and the person before me. She called in the manager to help. It took a little fiddling but he got the in person verification setup. The manger was polite and patient throughout the process. It was great customer service! read more

I got in and out quickly, and the staff was nice to me. What I didn't like was the confusion upon entering-- there is a door to the left and right of you, so I chose right, since I could see the service desk to the right. I really should've gone to the left, as this puts you in the queue for service. I had to awkwardly zig back to get in line. Also, it's hard to park in front of here, and had to pay for an hour of parking for about the 5 minutes of time I actually needed there. I'd go back if needed. read more

The lady who works the first counter (closer to the line) is the absolute worst. So rude. Goes out of her way to be as disrespectful, lazy and haughty as possible. I highly recommend going elsewhere if you aren't sure how you need to mail something to make sure it safely gets to your destination - i.e. you need to speak with somebody at the desk. Or, maybe just wait to go to the second counter rather than deal with this lady. Once again, I return from vacation and a mail hold to no mail. This has happened about five times. I don't understand how the mail carrier can keep his job. I used this post office today. The place is well-stocked and clean. There were several windows open, wow! A third window had just opened but the worker rolled her eyes and gave me one of those looks as I stepped forward, as in "You're not coming to my window, are you?" I went to another window. It worked! Why do so many public sector employees seem to not get trained in the most important thing: great customer service? 3 stars; grading on the curve because US Post Offices are often pretty terrible, and this one was OK. read more
