Wow. Wow. Wow. This little gem was THE unexpected find of the trip one balmy evening in Tulum. I never thought I would be searching for a Spanish tapas place in Mexico, but let alone consider it the best dining experience I've had in all of Mexico. And yet here I am, leaving the only review of my trip! The owner, Miguel, greeted us and seated us himself, a suave but humble Spaniard soul who immediately credited his wife with the most charming corner restaurant. "She's the boss, I just work here." And we were hooked. We felt like we were served as family, but also with the utmost care, and special care given to sanitation. Lorena was our darling server, with so much heart and conviction for her meals she recommended with utmost integrity. In the end, we ordered three tapas (patatas bravas, the eggplant and peppers, and a special chorizo) and the paella marisco, which portioned for two was more than enough for three! We enjoyed fresh tinta de verano and enjoyed a fabulous meal off the often-overly-touristy Tulum path. The only problem we had in our experience was leaving, knowing that not enough people might know about this taste of Europe nestled in bohemia to help it survive the pandemic economy. If you're looking for a break from tacos, PLEASE give these lovely humans your business!

Spanish tapas and paella in Tulum! Legit quaint spot. Small family run operation. I ordered some of everything. Patatas, a fantastic charcuterie plate, octopus with potatoes, coquetas. And paella. All delicious this place is absolutely worth checking out.

Empty clam shells.. Reminded me of "tallarinas" a small reddish elongated clams from south of Spain and Portugal.

Well, I think this will be the first review for this Restaurant. My family of 5 and I, thoroughly enjoyed this place. We ordered a salad, grilled eggplant and peppers, a plate of charcuterie, shrimp al mojo, and sautéed clams to share and we ordered a seafood paella as our main course. The portions for tapas are what they are, small but thats tapas. They were all delicious. But, the paella was excellent. We traveled to Spain couple years ago and we had paella everywhere that we went. And, I must say that it was very comparable to the best that we had in Spain. It had a good amount of variety of seafood and good seasoning, and the slightly toasted bottom of the paella made it an excellent paella. We were about to order six portions of paella when the server suggested us that we only get four since we had so many tapas, and she said that would be enough. I loved that from a server! Wherever Restaurant that you go, most servers try to pad the bill by having you order more than necessary, just to pad their gratuity. Indeed, the four portions were more than enough. This is a hidden gem in Tulum. The chef owner is from Barcelona and he certainly brings a piece of Catalunya to Tulum.

Would recommend if you are in downtown Tulum for a couple of days. Not authentic Mexican food (as it is a Spanish Tapas spot), but the food was excellent none the less. We got the seafood paella and a charcuterie plate. The paella was delicious! There are quite a few great paella places back in Texas that we frequent, and this place bested all of them. Also, the drinks were delicious and poured heavy :-) Anyways, if you're looking to change it up from the typical Mexican cuisine while you are in Tulum, this is an excellent choice.

The prices are reasonable and it's comparing apples to oranges when looking at the nicer restaurants. It's hard to complain when you're being delivered food in your lounger by the pool. Throughout my stay, I tried a variety of options with the turkey club being my favorite. The fries always showed up a tad soggy in each dish. The quesadilla and nachos were both very basic. The veggies were a refreshing snack to enjoy by the pool. The cocktails were all delicious as well. Overall, you don't have many lunch options on property so this is what everyone is doing.

The food still comes from the Cafe, but there are servers who will bring your food to you in case you are too lazy to get up. That was us. The wife had the shrimp cocktail and really liked it. The shrimp was fresh and the cocktail sauce had a nice kick. I had the JW burger because I was in the mood for something plain. I was not expecting much because, honestly, how many times has anyone gotten good poolside food? But I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meat and it was quite sizable, probably half a pound. The bacon was good quality and cooked to crisp. The lettuce and tomato were good, the cheddar was good, everything about that burger was good. I had the Cajun chips and they were good. I think the burger was about $15-16 USD but it was worth it. I would definitely eat here again and maybe next time I will get up from my poolside seat and walk a few feet to sit at the Cafe (which overlooks the pools).

This Spanish tapas haven, lovingly crafted by a husband-and-wife team and named after their infant son, transforms dining into something approaching art. The covered garden terrace, adorned with tropical plants and cooled by gentle fans, creates an oasis of tranquility where time moves at a more civilized pace. The Ensalada Casa Tomas--layers of ripe tomatoes, creamy avocado, and tangy feta with what I suspect is the finest balsamic this side of the Caribbean--exemplifies their approach of elevating simple ingredients through careful attention. The red snapper arrived cooked with the kind of respect that suggests the chef actually cares about the fish's dignity, flaky and moist with a parsley sauce that enhanced rather than masked its natural character. Service operates on the principle that hospitality is an art form, with staff who understand the delicate balance of attentiveness without intrusion. Even the water comes subtly infused with citrus--a detail that speaks to their commitment to excellence in all things. In an age when dining often feels like theater, Casa Tomas offers something increasingly rare: authentic experience delivered with quiet confidence, reminding you why you travel in the first place.

We stumbled upon Casa Tomas on Yelp and decided to walk over. It was only about a 6-8 minutes walk from the cruise ship dock, but just tucked away to feel like an escape. One of our favorites was the Carne Fiesta and we also had several types of various fried cheeses (haha) that were delicious! We would not hesitate to eat here again and will recommend to everyone we know. Prices on the menu are in pesos but they accept US Dollars (cash only). We had an amazing, delicious and authentic Mexican meal here for about $50 US Dollars. Score!

Every bite was better than the last and the portions were generous. The iced Irish coffees were the icing on the cake; I'd never had an iced Irish coffee but I think I'm spoiled now. However, what really sets Mora Mora apart is the vibe, the atmosphere. We were only planning on having dinner then heading out to the club, but we enjoyed it all so much we ordered another coffee and just chilled for an hour more. The restaurant is set in the middle courtyard of an old Spanish type villa, but there is thought provoking graffiti everywhere, and even the menu has political poetry and statements throughout. It all certainly made for some good conversation starters; in fact the menu was so well done with literature, I asked if I could take one home and was enthusiastically told yes. Over our two-ish hours there, two different live bands played a few songs and a female doo-wop group beautifully harmonized their hearts out to lively applause. After the bands left the stage, they played a Spotify station of ChillStep music that I eventually had to ask them for, as each song was so perfect for a laid back meal and conversation. At no point was the music ever overpowering but it certainly held the attention. Mora Mora is a fantastic place to go with friends or a laid back dinner date. It takes a few minutes to find and you have to make a reservation, as it has a very 1920's speakeasy vibe. I wouldn't be surprised if the younger crowd held political meetings there. I don't speak much Spanish, but the entire experience was so outstanding, I had to use Google translate to let the Mami at the door know just how pleased we were with the entire evening spent there. 10/10 will go back.
