It is a favourite with both locals and expatriates. It offers good value traditional French cuisine with a respectable a la carte selection, a good wine list and several menus at graduating prices and choices. The menus tend to reflect the season, such as la chasse in the autumn or whatever mushrooms or fruit are available in late summer. The offering of cheeses presented in a rustic old grape carrier - is quite a good one, usually at least a dozen different kinds with the waiter helpfully explaining each one, including the inevitable Bleu de Gex. Murano style chandeliers in red in an all white room. Very nice. The wait staff were very friendly and even spoke English, much to my pleasant surprise. I have been here twice now and bot h time ate a perfect meal. Once I tried the filet de perche, which were perfectly cooked and delicious side items with them. The second time I had the steak tartare which I presume has an Italian flair to it, the raw egg was served on the side which I left out and the spices were a bit Italian and loaded with kick so I enjoyed it. Dessert....dessert means chocolate for me so I had to try the special dessert of the day, molleux. I will be a regular customer here for sure.

Very friendly service and good food with plenty of choice…read more There are a huge range of crepes to choose from but you can also have the local specialties tartiflette (cheese and potato pie with tiny chunks of bacon lurking to catch vegatarians unawares - ask before you order if you are a veggie) and huge, meal sized salads. The one I like has the local cheese Bleu de Gex and walnuts. The set menus are good value. The people who run it are very nice to children. When we went and they'd closed for a private function they still let our desperate children use their loos. The last time we went we were late for the lunchtime opening on a bank holiday week end but they stayed open to feed us and didn't make us feel we had to rush to finish. It was only when we'd left and were wandering round town that we met them again and realised they must have shut up shop as soon as we'd left. They also do ice creams and drinks. They have a lovely patio for sunny days and good views of the old streets of Gex from the windows.

The chicken was really dry. The cake dessert tasted like it was from a supermarket. What a shame with all the wonderful patisserie in France. This restaurant makes me so sad since there is so much wonderful food in France. I hope they will make some changes.
