I waited until arriving here to have French cuisine. I knew I could find better French food here because it is closer to France and I was right. I found this restaurant among all the French restaurants in town, I liked their menu and their reviews. We liked it so much that we went there twice and we only stayed in Lausanne for two nights. First night we have onion soup, escargot, beef tartare, green salad, dessert - crème brûlée and ice cream. Second night we have the Seafood tower and salad. Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Ambience: 5 starts I love their menu because they serve more traditional French cuisine instead of those nouveau cuisine (like eating foam)-. I want to mention the maître d' named Adrien. I just mentioned to him at the first night that we maybe come back the next day so he sent me an invite to remind me so we did. I would call that's service and thank you for doing that.

The Entrecôte "Café de Paris" was a very poor quality piece of steak, with fat and tendons galore. The EB Burger (with a piece of foie gras on top of a patty) is different and delicious -- although the potato wedges that come with it are dry and should be substituted for regular fries. This place is pricey, and there other options that are better values (even in Lausanne, where prices are high in general) Service at the restaurant is hit or miss. For the most part it's professional, but there are definitely some wait staff who give the vibe of being arrogant. Given all that, the only reason this restaurant gets a second star is the ambiance is nice. It's somewhat of an awkward multi-level layout, but it has a charm to it. Classy and elegant. If only the food and service would match the surroundings, I'd be happy to go back.

Even though we had reservations, I do not think you need it for lunch. I might have gotten a bit paranoid from the Michelin Star restaurants in Paris that require you to wear a jacket (men). There is no dress code here (at least for lunch) but would not recommend wearing gym clothes. We started with a salad and ravioli as appetizers. I went with the risotto, my wife went with the beef filet and my mom went with the wild shrimp pasta. All dishes were good (I tasted all of them) but my favorite was the risotto. If you enjoy salty food then risotto is for you. The wild shrimp was unique due to the cuttlefish ink. Although the wild shrimp didn't have a strong taste overall. Finally we ended our lunch with the mille feuille and the dark chocolate cake. The mille feuille was the better choice, it was on the lighter side. Overall a great place for lunch and here are my ratings: Salad 7 Ravioli 7.5 Lobster Risotto 8.5 Wild shrimp 7.5 Steak 8 Millufulle 8.5 Dark chocolate 7.5

The spiced ice cream was equally marvelous, with heavy notes of ginger and lemongrass to balance the rich souffle. The other dishes: lobster risotto, chicken and mushroom, and pepper gazpacho with lightly cured fish (the server and I were having slight language barrier, so I didn't get the specific species) were all expertly executed, though not too memorable as they are as good as you'd expect a good version of those dishes to be.

We were offered champagne and a few small bites to go along with it. It was so pleasant sitting outside looking at the beautiful view to start our evening. We did the tasting menu and wine pairing and everything was exceptional. We started with the tomato dish. Everything was fresh, and the burrata ice cream was a nice touch. Next were the vegetal berlingots, a mushroom dish that's a signature on all of Anne-Sophie Pic's menus. I can see why - it was a delicious bowl of umami with each component contributing to the complexity of the dish. For the next course, we really enjoyed the sole. A perfect piece of fish. Next up was the venison. It was well cooked and well executed. It also came with a tart of ground venison on the side. The cheese course was an interesting one, with one of the cheeses being served as a mousse. It was a nice play on a traditional cheese course. Finally, for dessert we had the chocolate and the white peach options. Both were a lovely way to finish the meal. The beverage program was very creative. For example, to go along with the cheese course, they served beer. Given wine and cheese is such a classic pairing, they are clearly innovating and trying to go beyond simply what people expect. One of the standout wines was a Riesling. While Riesling is typically too sweet for our taste, this version from Germany was balanced and tasty. The service was great. Very attentive but never overbearing. Highly recommend dining at this restaurant. You'll be in for a treat!

From the way we were greeted until the very end, service was friendly, professional, and efficient. All the little details were thought of, e.g. my friend received her menu to take home in French, while mine was in English. Attentive but not intrusive throughout. While my friend visited the ladies room, one of the staff came over and asked me how things were, and we ended up talking about food in other countries. Previously, the same person shared a favorite tip on where to eat and drink in France. You could tell the staff here have a passion for service, and for food and wine. Now for the food itself. We went for the 350 CHF winter Pic collection, and while yes it's very pricey, it was also very good. Worth it? That's in the eye of the beholder, but let's say I wasn't disappointed at the end of the evening. After the amuse-bouche and bread service (which by the way is very good), came the first course: - Jerusalem artichoke and melanosporum black truffle, cooked "meunière." This dish wasn't what I expected and while good, it wasn't my favorite. After being breaded, I couldn't taste the artichoke much, and the texture was a bit bready. - Lobster from Brittany, roasted in shellfish butter, carrots. This was outstanding, as the lobster tasted so fresh. I also haven't had lobster with carrots before, and I believe there were a few different preparations alongside -- great combination, as well with the broth. - Line-caught sea bass with oscietre caviar. This is the chef's father's classic recipe from 1971, and there's a reason they haven't changed it. Definitely the highlight of the evening, with a super fresh (and sizable) piece of sea bass, perfectly prepared, and completely layered with caviar. Wow and the broth/foam was amazing. I don't remember the ingredients, but I could have licked my plate clean - Poultry from La Gruyere and black truffle. This is slowly poached and includes a broth of double cream. Never tasted chicken like this. It was just divine... tender, juicy, flavorful. We were talking about how this might be the best chicken we've ever tasted. I didn't think chicken could taste this good unless it was fried. - Cheeses -- most impressive cheese selection I've seen, with half from France and half from Switzerland. We were too full at this point and shared one portion. Oh so good. - White mille feuille. After a citrusy pre-dessert to cleanse the palate (this itself was really good), came the main dessert. This was outstanding: the texture, flavors of vanilla and pepper foam. Wow it all worked so well together. There were mignardises at the end, but the best surprise was as we were celebrating my friend's birthday, they brought out an entire cake! It was chocolate and lemon, and looked delicious. We were too full to try any, and anticipating this, it was boxed up for us after the candle was blown out. As an aside, it was placed in a very elegant box. After trying the cake the next day, I can confirm it tasted as good as it looked. I'll add that the ambiance in the restaurant is modern and elegant. It has a lakefront view, though you wouldn't be able to see anything when it's dark outside. It's just a very comfortable, inviting place to spend a few hours. In the end we both really enjoyed the experience, from the service to the food to the ambiance. It's certainly not an everyday (or even every quarter) place, but definitely a great spot for a special meal.
