There are a lot of Mexican food restaurants in this area! So we stopped at the one with the most cars on the parking lot. Very nice service staff. Tables were spaced nicely. The menu had both Mexican food favorites and American standards. I had the shredded beef flautas and my friend had the cheese enchilada plate. Both were good and filling. I thought their refried beans were very good - I love them when they are creamy. It was a good stop. Note: the ladies room is a little tight and no lock on the stall door. read more

This is the worst representation of Mexican food I've ever had. I was told the closer you are to Mexico the better the Mexican food is. This is false, every Mexican food place is better in Florida than here. They don't have hot sauce or cilantro!! This is an abomination. Make sure you don't get there Birria tacos. It was basically a hamburger patti with shredded lettuce and a hard corn tortilla with no sauce or anything. My husband's fajitas we're barely even cooked and weren't seasoned. He said the most flavorful thing was the burnt onions on the bottom. read more

super kind staff, very attentive, great food!! definitely worth the stop if you have time!

Didn't realize that most of Deming closes up at 7pm on a Saturday night. We were driving around and saw this place had a full parking lot and decided to try it. It's the definition of a small town restaurant. Homemade chips and salsa was my first clue it was going to be good. I ordered the combination platter and the server recommended green chili sauce on top. The portion was generous and it was probably the best Mexican platter I've ever had. I'd say the tamale was my favorite, but everything, including the rice and beans were outstanding. My friend ordered the stuffed sopapillas and said it was excellent as well. The service was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. I really wanted to rate it 5 stars, but the atmosphere and feel of the restaurant could really use some work. There were some other minor issues, unrelated to the food or service but I'd easily rate it a 4.5 if that was an option. Food 5 Service 5 Prices 5 Really wish they had house made flan, and looking forward to trying their Sunday Brunch!!! read more

La Fonda Restaurant - Outside of building. - Mexican Near Me - Deming, New Mexico

Lunch here today. Enjoyed the outdoor seating on the front patio - noisy with the traffic going by, but worth it for the social distancing. Really great chips and salsa. The chips were still warm, and very crunchy. Salsa has the perfect amount of heat. It took a little longer for my taco plate to arrive, but well worth the wait. The grilled onions were a nice touch and the fresh roasted jalapeño was. The taco meat was nicely marinated and I liked that it had cabbage instead of lettuce on it. I'll definitely stop in again the next time I'm driving past Deming!! read more

I go here every Monday for breakfast.I always get the number 3.Very good food, very good service.Recommend going

Yes, I was thinking of Napoleon Dynamite too! Fresh made chips and salsa! I would say that's the highlight of this place. I ordered their fajitas since they claimed it was their "famous" fajitas. I went with the steak and it came steaming still frying on a skillet; gosh I love that sound! It came along with some flour tortillas, rice, beans, and pico. The rice and beans were okay, but the pico was great! It had a kick I gather because of the green chili. As for the fajitas steak, I felt like I had to eat it quick because it was frying so fast that I didn't want it to overcook. Some pieces did and became crunchy. I wish they had left it somewhat rare so that as it layed on the skillet, it would allow it to cook to the temperature I would want to eat it. Service was pretty good and the place had a store front vibe. I would come back for the chips and salsa for sure! read more

Our food was fabulous, it was a to go order, but the service was perfect when we picked it up

The La Fonda... the location is exceptional...on the corner of Deming's main artery, Pine. The size of the restaurant seems adequate as well.... But as for the everything else, it wreaks of mediocrity. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant has its share of customers. BUT... that doesn't mean it's good, it just means there isn't a better choice in the area... Management should consider revamping to restaurant and adding more staff so they could cater to different people at different times of the day... plus... staff should do their jobs and not get caught up speaking with regulars while everyone else suffers while they wait.... Sorry but not really read more

We found this place, living here in Deming, New Mexico. It always looks filled up, and we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. Today I had the Fajitas Carne. First off price, it was $11.99. Unbelievable price, succulent tender steak strips, with a hint of seasoning, very pleasant on my pallet. Strips of white onion, charred to perfection, strips of green pepper, sautéed, and a little charred the way it should be. On a sizzling platter, no less! There was a cup of frijoles or beans, so incredibly flavorful, there was a little pico de gallo, I think I spelled that right, small diced jalapeño, tomato, onion, with slivered iceberg lettuce, there was guacamole, and OHHH! Flour tortillas, my favorite. The missus and I had iced tea, to go with our meal. I'm telling you, our glasses were never empty. I forewarned our server, Minnie, that today I was a very thirsty boy, she brought us a carafe of iced tea, and we managed to empty it, three times. The tea was a little dark, and the tea flavor was really good, I used to sweeten my tea, but I discovered that unsweetened tea really quenches my thirst...hahaha today it was so delicious I had to have more. Our lunch came to $23.41, and we were stuffed. Less than $25 bucks in this day and age is a tremendous bargain for two people. I HIGHLY recommend La Fonda in Deming, for lunch or dinner. The other night we tried their taco's. OMG, so delicious, practically melts in your mouth, pulled beef roast in there! read more

Service : amazing. Really sweet staff and really prompt Atmosphere : nice and perfect decor for Mexican food. It's a little sketch location but our car was fine. Food : the rice could have had more flavor the beans were good and the meat was good but salsa made it better as it was a little plain. I had the taco plate. read more

First time in the area, hotel staff recommended La Fonda. Let us know that it can be slow at times depending. We were seated immediately and never waited for anything, the young lady working the front was spot on. The food was authentic and delicious. Portion size was perfect. Will return! read more

Good food at a great price and amazing service. We had our 4 month old with us and the waitress offered to wash his bottle and bowl for us! Little things like that go a long way. We will stop by here next time we drive from CA to TX again for sure! read more

This was a tough one..... The food is actually very mediocre yet truly like the restaurant itself and was torn on the review. If it wasn't for the interior this place would've had a three star review. I barely missed lunch buffet so just ordered a cheeseburger, which was OK. Fries were OK also, nothing overly special and not truly much flavor. The very last little bit of the cheeseburger had a horrendous flavor, can't really explain it. Rest of Burger was OK. Won't make a special trip here but if in the area might give it a go again. read more

Stopped on our way from Texas had seen a crowd as driving by. Not a lot of people inside, one waitress. Took a long time for someone to take our order. Brought coffee was warm not hot. A long time for food to arrive. When food finally came it was cold. Even the pancakes. Told the cashier she had no care in the world. One group sat down waited so long for someone quite awhile and walked out. read more

Slow service possibly due to lack of help. I can look past that but the food was so lackluster that it was certainly not worth the price. If I order something from your menu and you come back to me 15 minutes later to tell me that you don't have any; you don't know what you are doing. We were dining with another couple at our table and their dishes were served 10 minutes before ours. Eat here if you want to be disappointed. read more

Ordered Guacamole as an appetizer and this is what we got, didn't even taste like avocado. We later asked for limes and our waitress said they didn't have any... it's a Mexican Restaurant without limes? We asked for the check and didn't get around to ordering our main plates since we had lost our appetite. Nice people, just not so nice food. read more

This restaurant should be a definite destination on your radar! We were in town for 2 weeks on family business and made it to La Fonda almost every other day. Everything we ordered was flavorful, hot and made to order. The only thing better than the food is the service. Stop by and say "hello" to this locally-family owned eatery; order anything on the menu and you will not be disappointed. read more

If your looking to get off I-10 and get yourself some authentic Mexican food you better be sure you have time to waste. 30 freaking minutes for some burritos and still nothing. There was only one table being served. I walked out. I can't rate the food because they couldn't be bothered to bring me my order. I know how to make burritos. It doesn't take but a few minutes. Poor customer service will always earn 1 star from me. I don't blame the waitress. I blame the management of this place. I'll never stop here again. I recommend Irma's instead. I got my food in 10 minutes and it was delicious. Corner of Silver and Spruce. Police Officer was eating here and you know they know the best places to eat. read more

The décor is adorably tropical with ten thousand papier mache parrots, flamingos, and iguana. Our service was great, but the food was slow coming out for mid morning on a Sunday with a fair, but not crowded, number of patrons. Coffee is very weak. The chile sauces are good: smoky, smooth red, chunky, sour-hot green. Over medium eggs had a little gooeyness to the yolk, but still mixable. Glad our waitress asked about the hardness. A little pile of tomato pieces and lettuce shreds put some more color on the plate. I ordered a side of bacon for the savory, salty, dip-in-the-sauce bonus; pieces were long and crispy but very fatty. I thought the beans were eh, but admittedly I don't love refried beans. My friend's hash browns were not well browned and mostly yellow and floppy. No complaints about the scrambled eggs, though. read more
