I had a ground beef burrito that was more like an after school snack than a dinner. Tortilla was cold, beef was luke warm. Added sour cream to it, but that was all there was in that snack. I hit this place while driving though New Mexico. Staff was very friendly. Decor is unassuming. My plate was delicious. They start you off with basic chips & salsa. The salsa was more than basic and had me asking for more. I imagined that if this was how they start me off, then my actual meal will be out of this world. Boy ol boy was it ever. I'm from California and flautas are flour tortillas but I guess they are really differentiated by the size of the tortilla. They were definitely good. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

We've liked Irma's every time we visited. However, yesterday I ordered cheese enchiladas for lunch and they were flat -- not rolled. I couldn't taste anything but chile so I looked under the tortillas and there was barely any cheese, only a couple of sprinkled shreds. To be fair, the salsa is always great and the beans/rice were good. But, enchiladas with no cheese is unacceptable, especially since they weren't that busy by the time we came in. We asked a local person where should we have brunch and without hesitation they said go to Irma's. So we pulled up and went inside. It's a delightful restaurant with bright colors and such a welcoming feel from the moment you step inside. There was a warning that we'd be a bit on peak times, 30 minutes, and they was the case as every table was full. I took that as a great sign. If people are lining out the door, it must be great. We were given chips, amazing salsa and drinks quickly. And then they took our order shortly after. My food was hot and so tasty, it felt like it was slow cooked with all old family recipes. I got a sample plate with green chili and enchalada and taco, beans, rice and it was a huge plate so filling. I loved the salsa so much they sold me a huge cup on the side to bring home. If you can make the time, this is a great place to sit, eat and relax. They even had a TV so hubs could catch the football game. It wasn't distracting, just a nice convenience. If you are anywhere near Deming NM you will want to experience authentic Mexican food and outstanding service at Irma's. The restaurant is clean and there is plenty of seating. My husband and I would rate them higher than most Mexican food restaurants we have dined at over 40 years in the metro Phx / AZ market. We stopped here for early dinner on the way to the west coast and will for sure stop when traveling thru again. Adriana was so friendly and courteous during our time there. The Parrilladas for 2 was amazing. There was plenty of food and it was delicious. The fajita meat, cheese, corn tortillas with avocado and grilled onions were served on a dish -which was shaped like a fish- warmed by a sterno. In addition you are served a baked potato with plenty of butter each and a bowl of the delicious charro beans made with hatch chili. Four of us all tried something different fajitas, combination with taco enchiladas and chili Relleno all delicious. Red chili is amazing green chili tasty as well. If your not sure which to try get it Christmas style red and green. Being a green chili girl glad I tried both pleasantly surprised that the red chili was my favorite just the perfect amount of spice and heat. I love mom and pop style Mexican restaurants and I was excited when I came across this one as we were passing through Deming. We called in an order for pick up and took it with us to the Walmart parking lot while we charged our truck. For ease of eating on the go, I decided on a steak quesadilla instead of my usual Mexican order of enchiladas. The quesadilla was delicious! Looking at the photos of the rice convinced me to get an order of it on the side as it's the perfect definition of what Mexican rice is supposed to be. I'd love to eat in restaurant here but we're only ever passing through Deming at Christmas with our pups on our way from Albuquerque to San Diego so I'm not sure it'll happen but I'd be happy to pick up food to go still. read more

We stopped by coming back to Tucson from Hatch because of the Yelp Reviews, and they are well deserved. The food is very similar to what I grew up in Globe and it is simply delicious. First the salsa, amazing. A perfect balance of sour, sweet, acid, and heat. It tasted of the tomato and chili with enough of a bite that it drew you back for more. In my opinion it is competition worthy and they say it has won a few. We got salsa to go. I had a bean and cheese burrito smothered Christmas style (red and green chili). The beans had a deep roasted flavor with a slight sweetness and creaminess with pieces of beans and were wonderfully moist. The best part is they had a perfect level of salt, often they tend to be over salted and drier, and these had the perfect balance. Tortillas were fresh made with a nice roast to them. The sauces were also award winning. The green chili sauce had a mild heat, slightly sweet with a lovely acid bite. The red chili was roasted, warmer than the green, and not oily (which takes skill when making it traditionally). It was silky smooth and you could taste chili. The shredded beef chimichanga, which had a lite fry and was not greasy. The meat was tender, a great balance of seasoning, and not oily but super moist and juicy. The rice had a deep roasted tomato flavor and a perfect cook, so enough bite that it held up to the sauces but also completely cooked through. The wait staff were wonderful. We were greeted by Liz, the daughter of the owner and every staff person was friendly and welcoming to all the customers. If you are looking for a place to stop in Demming, this is now our go to when we travel this direction and we recommend you do as well. read more

We're not sure if Irma's was open, because the small unassuming entryway, but when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The service was really nice, the waitress was happy and friendly. Irma's is one of the places recommended by my Airbnb host while I'm in Deming. The place is clearly popular. It's in a center of this small town and most people seemed to go there for New Mexican food (though they offer breakfast dish until noon and some pasta/American dish as well). Most dishes are around $8-$10 and typically come with complementary basket of chips and salsa. I'd say the chips and salsa were pretty nice. Their NM dish though was quite large. Tasty but so large that I think I left half uneaten. I've been wanting to try stuffed sopapilla...but honestly after trying it, I by far preferred eating sopapillas as part of my desserts than as savory stuffed ones. The taste was good..but I just didn't like the mushy-ness when it's stuffed and smothered in chili/cheese. Overall, Irma's is quite affordable. You do get a hugeeee dish to eat..and probably can take some home. I'm not a fan of eating leftover Mexican food the next day though..so I left mine without taking it back. That said, if you like NM food and are hungry..this is a good place to eat. My host recommended the chicken enchillada with egg on top though...so maybe you should try that instead. And, as always, for those undecided on chili, ask for xmas sauce..woth a mix of red and green chili! read more

Oh my goodness! Thank you Yelp for this wonderful find! A small, woman owned business. The food was so delicious, Irma's sister was our server and she took good care of us. Loved the prints hanging on the wall. Back to the food, I had the albondigas soup, the small was the right size, so many meatballs.
