Was confused by the Mexican Italian Bugers listing but was recommended by the inn we were staying at. Four of us dined. One ordered the Fish Tacos. 2 ordered the Chicken Burritos and I had the day's special, Pozole and added a chicken tamale. We were given complimentary chips and yummy salsa. Each item is reviewed by their respective orderer. The fish tacos were delicious with the mango salsa being the star. The beans and rice were very good. The chicken burritos both diners said exactly the same thing. The were very delicious.... For a bean and rice burrito. Both were very lacking in the meat department. I saw both and agree. Very little chicken by ANY standard. I also tasted it and agree... it had a great taste. My order, Pozole and a tamale. The tamale was ok. Chicken was a bit dry but it was ok. The Pozole though... outstanding. Hominy was the proper tenderness, not mushy but soft, chicken was delicious, fresh radish slices, cilantro and onion, lime wedge and the broth... this was fantastic and I would not hesitate to get this again. Hubby had the Lafonda enchiladas, which were so delicious. The green sauce was amazing and the salsa and chips that we were served initially were really good too. Note that La Fonda IS OPEN during Covid for TAKEOUT and DINE IN. They have limited outdoor seating as well. My family and I were staying in Winthrop for a quick getaway and decided to order takeout from here. We placed our order via phone and were told that they'd have our food ready in 25 minutes. We ordered the: shrimp fajita burrito, Camarones de ajo (garlic shrimp), chicken fajitas, and the tamales tradicionales. Our food was ready when we arrived. The hostess was wearing a mask too. I'm not sure if people were eating inside, but there were two groups sitting outside on the patio. My shrimp fajita burrito was HUGE and probably weighed at least 2lbs! I could only eat half and had to share the rest with my family. It had beans, rice, shrimp, lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream. I can't say it was the best burrito I've ever had, but it sure was filling! My mom's camarones de ajo has the same ingredients as my burrito (minus the large tortilla of course), but was much spicier than mine. Like me, she couldn't finish it all and so we shared it as a family. The other two dishes were good too, but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall: 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service read more

We left so satisfied. The food was well plated, it looked amazing just like it tasted amazing. I had the Chelle Relleno with Carne Asada and a blacked salmon taco. I also ordered a chicken pozolle cup of soup. How cow it was unexpectedly delicious! This side of the road restaurant was a life saver. We were hungry and it was the only place open. I thought we would have to eat gas station food ugh. Best Mexican food I've had in a very very long time. It's a small family restaurant and the service was warm and attentive. Staying more than one night in Winthrop can be a challenge when looking for a "new" spot for dinner. The solution is go to the next town over and visit La Fonda Lopez. When we first saw the name it took us instantly back to the movie Napoleon Dynamite of course. We get there and found it not crowded because we were there early. We were the only two under 75 when we first got there. We were greeted promptly and taken to a four top in the main dining area. There is local art for sale featured on the walls. That makes for something to look at other than paint. We ordered quickly and the food was out pronto. I had their charbroiled Carne Asada plate with pinto beans and rice with pico and guacamole. As an afterthought I added two beef tacos. Those tacos were the bomb. The beef was stewed in some kind of sauce and was diced in a small cubes. I put some lime on it and down the hatch. Incredible flavor. My skirt steak was very good and I loved the charbroiled taste. Mama had a Cadillac Margarita she said was excellent and she went for her usual steak fajitas. Interestingly enough the fajitas came out plated with the beans and rice instead of on a sizzling skillet separate from the rest. That had no bearing on anything but it bore mentioning. Another thing to mention is chips and salsa is NOT complimentary. It's $3.95 a basket. In the current times we live in and everyone suffering in one way or another I did not take umbrage with paying for it. The service was friendly and efficient with plenty of wait staff moving around. One even had her little girl in tow. The place is definitely family run and is a gem in the small town of Twisp, WA. We will return. read more

I would rate this place 4.5 stars if it wasn't for a fly that kept pestering us during our dinner. The food here is delicious and quite unique. They offer a little bit of Thai and Italian options in addition to Mexican. I tried their Thai green curry and shrimp fettuccini. Both had good flavors and fresh ingredients but the fettuccini was a bit overly creamy and heavy. The service was friendly and on par with what one would expect at a place like this. read more

While seated, we waited about 30 minutes before someone came to take our order so if you're in a rush, go somewhere else! Yet, the food was tasty and seemed pretty fresh. I ordered chicken fajitas and they were bland and flavorless. I expected them to be hot and they were Lukewarm. The beans and rice also had no flavor. They put the sour cream on top of the beans and covered it with raw onion so it was inedible. Their service was lack luster as well. They never asked me how my food was or refilled my water. We got to Twisp River Suites at 7pm and needed food pretty badly. We walked across the street to this restaurant and we're surprised at the quality of food. Smaller portions than what we're used to, but higher quality! The beef was marinated and tender and the avocado was perfectly ripe. I'm super pregnant and wanted shrimp enchiladas even though they weren't on the menu (only pork, chicken or beef), the accommodated me. Food was quick and inexpensive. My husband and I had dinner for $40. They also had a few non-Mexican items such as Thai and burgers on the menu. read more

This is small town Mexican food. Not your fancy, high-end Mexican gourmet, but far better than most Mom and Pop shops. Best part is the salsa, and it makes it almost every dish you added it to even better. Salsa has a kick, but it's a bit delayed, and it has its own taste before you get there. Beef fajitas were a well spiced version, with lots of nicely grilled, not burnt, vegetables accompanying the meat. The six corn tortillas were feather light and thin, but have enough substance not to break when folded up. The accompanying tamal side dish arrived steaming hot, just as it should, and was a traditional hand-molded flat version in a corn husk. The chile relleno plate had a lot of flavor, though the Spanish rice and beans were pretty basic versions. Service was friendly and quick. read more
