A wonderful place to relax and enjoy a good meal when visiting the Versailles gardens. We booked it here to beat the lunch crowd and were seated immediately in the patio area with no reservation. About ten minutes later, guests without reservations were being turned away, so definitely get here early or make a reservation as restaurant options are limited within the gardens. Also be prepared for a considerable walk from the entrance. Our waiter was super prompt and friendly, and the food was delicious. I learned that deviled eggs in France are called eggs with mayonnaise, tried them here, and proceeded to order them at every restaurant I could find after. They were SO good. Highly recommend. Our group also got the cod, sausage with mashed potatoes, and the Dauphine ravioli. No plate had a hint of sauce left. I was so stuffed by the end of the meal, even hours later, that I could only take a few bites of the dessert my boyfriend ordered: the floating island. It was so unique, perfectly light and sweet, and a delicious end to a fantastic meal.

The server was kind enough to grab our photo.

This was one of the locations I had picked before we came. I was a little disappointed to find they had stopped serving lunch and would not be serving dinner. It took hours to walk through Versailles and then through the gardens to make our way here and we hadn't eaten anything since the morning. However, they did still serve a partial menu and that was just as well. Daniel stepped out of his comfort zone and tried the beef tartar and I had the Dauphine Ravioli. The ravioli was absolutely divine and Daniel ate the entire serving of tartar. I did try one bite which was WAY out of my comfort zone but a local woman started a conversation with us and encouraged me to give it a try. She said it goes especially well with fries. It wasn't awful and it didn't kill me. If I wasn't so focused on it being raw meat and raw egg yolk I might have been able to enjoy it. I just can't though which makes no sense because I have no issue with raw fish. Make that make sense. Any way both dishes were fresh, prepared to perfection, and very tasty. Service seemed rushed. I think our server was ready to be done for the day but he was still very kind. I do recommend giving la flotille a try but definitely be there before 3:00 pm.

Sausage and mashed potatoes, steak frites (without the sauce), cider and Saint Germain spritz

Went here for lunch with my husband after 4 hours of walking around Versailles when we were in desperate need of a place to rest our feet and recharge. The hostess and waiter were friendly and did not mind speaking English with us. I ordered the sausage and mashed potatoes and my husband had the steak frites. For drinks I had the Saint Germain spritz and my husband had a cider. The drinks and food came out almost instantaneously. My sausage dish had a tangy and flavorful sauce and the potatoes were creamy perfection. My husband loves his fries but was felt indifferent about the steak. He was happy that they accommodated his food allergy and left the shallot sauce off. We both loved our drinks-- his Natural Sauvage cider was dry and crisp and my spritz was well balanced and not overly sweet. The vibe is touristy which is to be expected since it's on the site of a very popular tourist destination. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and they offered us a blanket because it was late October but we didn't need it. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for friendly and fast service with decent food and tasty drinks conveniently located if you plan on visiting the Petit Trianon or Marie Antionette's Hamlet during your trip to Versailles.

Pleasant and conveniently located near Le Grand Trianon, this restaurant is a welcome spot to rest a bit after touring Versailles Palace, the gardens, and l'Orangerie; and before resuming your tour of the Trianons and Queen's Hamlet. I had a light (oh really?) lunch of foie gras and French onion soup gratinee - while perhaps a little cliched, it was a perfect restorative and gave me the needed calories to complete the tour. The soup was deeply flavorful broth and the foie gras deeply decadent. My wife had a more sensible meal of salad with beluga lentils. Very nice.

Nice spot to get something to eat in between walking from the palace through the gardens towards the Le Grand Trianon and Queen's Hamlet. Located next to the Grand Canal with an outdoor seating area to relax and enjoy the surrounding area. I didn't think the food would be anything special from what seemed like a random restaurant in the gardens, but all the food was great and not too expensive for the portion size. Even if you get something small, I recommend to check it out on a long day walking the gardens for a peaceful stop.

I enjoyed my scallops A little cramped so it sounds crazy in there with so much chatters but still a wonderful place for a quick snack after a short walk on the gardens and waters

    Duck confit with fingerling potatoes

After a long walk exploring the Palace of Versailles and the gardens, we stopped by La Flotille for lunch. We ordered the duck confit with fingerling potatoes and sirloin steak with bernaise sauce which came with fries and salad. We got complimentary pretzels to snack on before our mains arrived. We were seated near the water where couples and families were rowing boats. A great spot to take in the view and relax after admiring the beauty and history of the palace. This was my first time having duck confit and it was simply amazing! It was a duck thigh covered in an amazing sauce. There were bits of the duck thigh that were very crispy. Not sure what the sauce is called but it was so yummy I had dipped all my fingerling potatoes in it. We also had complementary bread which I also used to dip the sauce.. none went to waste! As for the sirloin steak, they cooked it medium well. No complaints from my lunch partner here. An amazing meal we had, one I will not forget from this trip!

Food was pretty good. Service was absolutely horrible. I Came here to get lunch during our visit to the palace at Versailles. We had finished touring the main palace I was heading towards the petite Trianon when we found this place next to the gardens. We were cold I needed a place to warm up and sit down. We kind of knew it was gonna be a tourist trap but we didn't have any choices. It was pretty crowded, and we were able to get a table by the window. Our server was absolutely horrendous and very rude. Every time he would bring us anything he would basically slap it on the table. He was rushing us to order so that he could turn the table. Very un European of him. The food was pretty good, I would say four out of five stars. The presentation was nothing to look at. But at least the taste was good. Overall I would say a very mediocre experience, and the price was high as expected. Definitely will not go out of my way to come back here.

During our day in Versailles we walked just outside the gardens to eat at La Flotille. We were seated very quickly on their enormous patio. We ordered two of their pizzas for our meal, the Royale and the Trois Fromages. The Royale came with ham, mushrooms, and tomatoes while the Trois Fromages was a cheese pizza with goat cheese, mozzarella, and Roquefort cheese. All of the toppings were very fresh and the dough was cooked perfectly. We also saved a little room for dessert and ordered an espresso and the Fraise Melba, which was absolutely amazing with fresh strawberries. We lucked out and finished right as it started raining that day too, but it looked like there was plenty of umbrellas and cover on the patio anyways. If you are in Versailles, an excellent option for your meal.

    Barbecue chicken pizza, Margherita pizza

Solid pizza for a reasonable price! Located in the gardens of Versailles, this quaint restaurant is for sure a tourist trap, but don't let that stop you. After wandering the gardens all day, we were famished, and decided to stop here for a relaxing lunch. We were seated outside. While it was a hot summer day, the shade and the attention of the waitstaff to quickly refill our ice water was deeply appreciated. I ordered a barbecue chicken pizza (could I be more American? I know, I know), which was yummy. The crust was not too thin or thick, just right to have a crust and soft filling. The toppings of chicken and veggies were a bit sparse, but nevertheless tasty. My friend ordered their Margherita pizza. Fresh, cheesy and thick, it was the perfect light lunch for a day to keep walking around afterwards. Overall, a great dining experience!

What a pleasant place to stop and recharge. We had finished our tour of Versailles and were about to trudge back to the train station when we noticed a tram tour of the gardens. We were too tired to walk, and the tram seemed a perfect way to see more of the palace grounds. Midway through the ride, the tram stopped here, at La Flottille. We didn't plan on going and, in fact, had no idea it was even there. However, everyone else got off, and so did we. The space is lovely. The service is great. The prices are (Paris) reasonable. We had a crepe, a galette, and a few drinks. However, it was enough to perk us up for the ride home. And, FWIW, the food was better than our dinner at Mason Rostang, which is supposed to be a Michelin 2-star restaurant. Then again, just about all of our meals were better than there. Anyway, if you find yourself at Versailles, consider hopping on the tram and stopping off at La Flotille for a quick snack, if not a full meal.

    steak frites

This is basically the only restaurant at the Palace of Versailles, so my friend and I had to eat here since we were starving. They really pack you in! We were just 2 inches away from the next table. Our server was friendly, but our food wasn't very good. I had the steak frites, and it was a very tough piece of meat to cut through. A steak knife would have been great. The steak was also quite bland. The fries were really good, though. And they were extremely crispy. The salad seemed to be an afterthought and wasn't dressed at all. Just very bitter pieces of lettuce.

Highly recommend this restaurant if you're visiting Versailles. The service was great and the food was pretty good. We came with a tour group that had pre-chosen food for us. The steak and frites were good. The soft drinks are small and very expensive (5 euros each). You can sit inside or outside and it's a pretty big place. The servers speak good English as well. There are free restrooms in the back. You do not need a ticket into Versailles to get to this place. It's outside of the gardens.

Except they know like us somebody living three streets away from this place. Le Moutbaron is a pub/bistro/billardhall and in the daytime it looks as if it's been closed since the 80ies. Kind of shabby, not that inviting in the daylight. But just like Robert Pattinson it looks way more inviting from dusk till dawn. We've been there twice. First because we just didnt't find any other place to get a beer on a saturday night in Versailles. It was kind of crowdet and the service needet a while. We also had a little problem communicating, since one of the waitresses (is the the plural of waitress? I hope so) spoke english just as bad as I speek french, but we tried our best and got what we ordered. (Two beer called Stella, better tham Kronbourg anyway). Actually we had a nice night there and even another Stella, whice was about 6 EUR, as far as I remember, a normal price in France. Oh right now on their webside they disclaim 4,80EUR. I don't remember it beein that cheap? Strange. Ah OK, I see it's the daytime card. At night (after 7 pm) 6EUR was right. Strange onlinecard though. The second time we went there for dinner accompained by our host living nearby and speaking better french than me. The menue was bilingual strange, because, unlike many places in Paris with only a french menue I don't think many tourist go astray to find this. I was very interested in fries on salad for about 5EUR. I wondered what this would look like. (I was serious, i did never mean to make fun of the French and their english) The boys went for burgers (about 12EUR). And fries. Big fat french fries. They're awesome. The waiter this night as far as I remeber one of the owners was speeking english quite good and considering his T-shirt was a fan of the british empier anyway. I asked for the fries on salad. Seriously. He looked a bit surprised and step by step we found out that it simply was a misspelling an meant was fries OR salad. In French it was spelled right of course, but as I said my French sucks. All of us laught about it and I got a really big bunch of fries and an even bigger salad on top. The food was OK, the boys liked their burgers, I think that the fries as well as the salad would have liked some more salt and pepper, but our host told us before that this is pretty normal in France. They generally spice very coutiously here. After all we had a fun night here. It was warm, we sat close to a window, and whenever the boys went out to have a smoke, they stood in frot of my window an I was leaning over the window bench like a kiosk lady. It's a fun place. You can definately go there. I never played billard there cause I hate billard. Ok, I didn't expect i was able to write such a long article in English. Please correct mistakes if you find them.

After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.
