This review is ONLY about the changes to the way you pay for parking…read more The new parking app makes me never want to shop at Broadway Plaza ever again, and I've been shopping there since I was a girl in the 80s. There was a period of time when I probably shopped at Broadway Plaza 1-2 times PER MONTH (now I'm stuck paying off my credit cards but that's my own fault and a separate issue). What was wrong with the old system? It worked just fine. But now you have to download an app to get out of the parking garage, EVEN IF you were there for less than the three hours of courtesy parking. It's absolutely insane. And even worse, there's NO cell reception in the garage (at least with AT&T) so you can't download the app without returning to the open air mall. Maybe that's why they changed things up? So that for people who haven't been to Broadway Plaza since before the app was rolled out, they might be able to charge for more time? It's unbelievable. And... you have to enter a bunch of personal information. Why do I need to download an app to pay for parking after I've already shopped at the mall, potentially pushing one of the tenants over their percentage rent breakpoint? It's outrageous. I don't mind having the ParkMobile app for parking because it allows me to park on many different cities' streets with little to no hassle. So I'm not anti-parking app. I am anti-Metropolis parking app. At least before, you got a time-stamped ticket so you knew exactly when to leave if you wanted to avoid paying. Now you have to remember to check the precise time you entered the garage, assuming it's even time-stamping accurately. And how do you know precisely where it time-stamps you? Macerich, do better. Relegate this parking situation to the annals of retail hell. Thank you for your consideration. [curtsy]

While there's no longer music that plays in the morning and the main street is now closed to…read moretraffic, Broadway Plaza is still one of my favorite places to be in Walnut Creek. There's a good mix of restaurants, clothing, and jewelry shops, most of which are high quality brands and the mall constantly stays fresh and vibrant although I do wish they had more restrooms outside of the ones below Industrious. Some weekends they have a maker fare or live music, but most of the time the fountain is just central to the comfortable seating area, that during the winter gets some decor for the holidays. All in all, I really do love this area and still find myself coming back year after year.

Treasure such unstinting employees as Landan, who would do any organization proud. This thoughtful woman surely went the extra mile. Anyone long in business knows people are quick to complain, slow to praise. So please let my words of appreciation for Ladan serve as proxy for all the other McCaulou's customers this woman has helped but who never bothered to thank her, and you, for having such terrific people.

So, we went back to the store hoping to be able to return the item, which was - yes - taken out of the box in a way that looked open for sure. Rather than kindly pointing me to the department store return policy, the lady handling my return inquiry looked at me and said "Hmm...I'm not sure I can take this item back. The box is all ripped open. I mean...would you buy this again?" Then she proceeded to say "well nothing was wrong with it right? We can't take it back just because someone got hurt with it." Totally rude and unkind handling of the situation. Will not be shopping here again. Too bad because I would love to support the local stores.
