Okay fine, since it has retail stores, a couple of restaurants, a bank, health, fitness, and beauty shops; We'll leave it at that and call it a "mall". Finding this place is pretty simple as it borders close to Lafayette. Yet it lays tucked away, hidden in a residential part of Walnut Creek. What stores are anchoring this mall you ask? Well let's see, there's the grocery store Lunardi's and a Rite Aid with a Thrifty Ice Cream parlor. I can't say that I've been to all the stores, but here's what's provided: ~ A Wee-Change - a maternity consignment store. ~ Viola! Gift Store - they've got cool and unique items here. ~ Norge Cleaners, Shoe Repair and Tailoring shop. ~ Queen's Nails ~ Maria's Beauty Salon ~ Beauty Lounge - Another unique shop with a bar. Nice! ~ Sports Barber Shop ~ Fine Floorz ~ Lampshades ~ Cushing & Gan Optometry ~ AmeriClean ~ Raw Sports Performance - a place for personal training and physical therapy. ~ Animal Crackers - for pet grooming. ~ Geary Veterinary Hospital ~ Snap Fitness - an exclusive fitness studio. ~ UPS Store ~ and Chase Bank Good eats: ~ Do Sit Thai Cuisine - (see my review :) http://www.yelp.com/biz/do-sit-thai-cuisine-walnut-creek?hrid=qhVinoVm_hf1wNhZtqOaBw ~ Chopin Cafe - a Polish restaurant ~ Green Garden - Chinese cuisine ~ Papa Murphy's Pizza - take and bake pizza ~ Subway - 5, 5 dolla, 5 dollah footlongs! ~ Tutti Frutti Yogurt ~ and a Starbucks - at the corner for convenience

But I usually go here to go to the store on the way to Walnut Creek or on my way back home. I have walked around this spot, hoping to find another there, there, but there isn't one. I don't know what an update would look like, because it's so old and past it's time. And some of the places that I'd go to - there was a health store - gone, a burger joint - gone, the fancy, healthy food spot - gone, the cupcake spot - gone. You do have to pay for parking, but it's been safe. But still, metered parking in a "dying" shopping center? I'd think that they'd love to have people park. I've been to other places up and down the street and this is the only one where you have to pay! And they have one store, so I only pay for 15 minutes or so. But what a waste! I'd pay for a couple of hours and spend time bouncing from shop to shop, but that won't happen beecause everytime they get another shop of note, it closes down. This is an old school plaza and I want to like it more than I do. I wish they updated themselves, like El Cerrito Plaza. They have some of the same buildings, but built others. they have also updated their offerings and when something closes, another quality store joins them.

This mall has all…read morestorefronts filled up and is busy, so different from the shuttered SF Shopping center that closed down and Tanforan shopping to be closed for senior housing down on San Bruno area. This mall has so many jewelry stores, it's crazy! there's even a barber shop for men on first floor which was different. There's a JC Penny here and like walking around bring back old memories of stores I grew up with with Spenser, Sweet Factory store for sour patch kids candy, Hallmark, and life uniforms. I felt their food court had a strange layout as on first floor all their sweets where there and 2 main food places sushi and newly open Mexican in the mall. I know outside has the yummy BJs and Fusion Buffet. Yes, nice mall to visit and they have a Macys here with the perfume dept working the floor very hard. Perfume is quite expensive!

I've known this mall for decades. I remember back in the day this place was packed all the time -…read moregreat stores, well run, great mall to go to. Hard to believe it's the same place. I don' t know if this mall is ever packed and it's not totally the mall's fault - buying stuff on line has really killed the brick-and-mortal stores in general and I get it. But holy smokes, the stores here - it's multiple variations of the same crap stores. Who buys this stuff? There are some stores that I absolutely cannot believe make enough money to stay open. They have to pay rent and employee salaries and make some sort of profit and you wonder how it's possible. If you go here and look around, you'll know what stores I'm talking about. I was walking around here yesterday was just amazed at the absolute garbage stores. One "kitsch" store (and there are many) proudly displayed some poster about "stupid people" by its entrance that you could buy - for people to buy to make fun of stupid people - yet literally the only people who would buy this are the people it makes fun of. And you can't walk into these stores because the second you do the employee is on you. Like Blockbuster where every employee had to greet you and see if you need anything. I just want to look around without being bothered but it's not possible in these stores. They have so little people in them, when an employee does get someone they hover. You do still have some good stores - Macys of course, an old standby with good stuff - you can't go wrong with a Macys. Even JC Penneys is still here (I didn't even know they were still around). The Sears finally went out and to no one's surprise, they couldn't care less about that store for years now. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. And the clientele walking around. You have your people of all ages and races which you want to see. California is represented well at this mall and I like that. And of course your thugs always wasting time walking around - disturbs me seeing these guys. I guess the mall can't do anything about them but yeah, they're here. On the plus side, the mall is super clean. I'd like to hope that this mall, one of the malls I've been to for decades will still be around for a long time but honestly, if this thing still exists in three years I'd be shocked.
