Morris Renovations was referred to me and they came out immediately. I have had other roofing companies come out and this is the first time that a thorough check was done and I got real answers. In the past, I was told "you need a new roof" and I knew I had about 5 yrs left on the roof, I have paid for "patch jobs" and still I knew something was wrong because I can see the plastic buckling on one section of my wall that had been repairs before. Luis came out from Morris Renovations and he found active leaks that I didn't even know about and no one else saw. He also saw that instead of the leak I knew I had being properly fixed, tar was placed over the leak. When he came back to do the repairs he took pictures. There was a hole in the wood under the shingles; a large hole. So the "tar" which should never have been used, actually did nothing. We had snow the next day and then pounding rain on 1/9/24 and I was not worried about water dripping on me as I slept! Great, thorough, honest work.

Morris Renovations kept blaming the delay on the factory and on covid. I find it very hard to believe because this was late 2021, the first half of 2022 when covid wasn't that big of a deal anymore. Also, I picked Marvin windows which are made in the US using Canadian lumber. Regardless, during those 8 months, it was incredibly tough to get in touch with anyone from Marvin who could provide me an update. My "project manager" Roman was nowhere to be found and would not return my calls. The guy who answers the phone just said he didn't know anything. For "security reasons" he would not provide me a direct number for Roman so I basically had no way to reach my supposed "project manager". You can't just take a 7K deposit and go MIA. Anyway, I was just about to lose all hope, when, miraculously, after 8 months, my windows were finally ready. On the day of installation, however, it turned out that one of my windows had been "misplaced" and no one could tell me where it was or when I could get it. 2 weeks later, they "found" my window. We set up a new install date, only to get it rescheduled with less than 24h notice. I didn't even get an apology. I'm still waiting on that missing window.... Now, as to the installation itself, it was far from top-notch workmanship. I had to go around and ask the guys to add more insulation foam in spots they had missed. They scratched and damaged the new windows in a couple of places, and they broke the molding on the interior so now I have to get that replaced too. Their caulking looks like a 2-year-old did it. To top it all off, they almost yelled at me for picking a big bow window with fixed panes because it is harder to install without specialized equipment that Morris does not have.All in all, my experience with Morris Renovations was extremely disappointing. After spending the equivalent of a new car, I was expecting to at least get quality to match the price. Sadly, all Morris has to offer is good salespeople. Once you've signed on the dotted line, you will get nothing but frustration and disappointment. Learn from my mistake and find a better contractor. UPDATE: I finally got my missing window. After reading my original review, the guys really tried their very best this time. Their best is just not good enough, unfortunately. They didn't use house wrap to prevent water intrusion. They didn't shim any of my windows. They somehow managed to over-tighten some screws and had nails popping out on the finished side of a 10K bow window. Not to mention all the scratches and dents they managed to put in. Their caulking is still deplorable. And they should not be allowed to touch moulding or any finished carpentry. I am mostly mad at myself because instead of going with the contractors I know, I decided to spend a little more for "professional window installers" thinking they would actually know what they are doing. I know how hard it is to find good contractors. I really hope this review helps prevent people from doing the same mistakes I did.

I kept Justin's contact information and gave him a call anticipating the winter storms that may soon be approaching. He responded right away and remembered our previous correspondence. He followed up within 2 days to give me a new estimate since the gutters on the side of the house began to leak as well. We communicated via text, which was the best form of communication for me. He explained what needed to be repaired thoroughly and listed all the materials needed. This would be the third time I had a contractor come to repair my gutters within the last 5 years. It has been a nightmare trying to get my gutters fixed, however this time around I felt confident in hiring Justin and his crew. He sent me a quote detailing the work that needed to be done. I had fascia boards installed, aluminum capping, vinyl vented soffit, mesh covers, and a new gutter replaced only in the front of the house due to my neighbor's gutters hanging a foot onto my side of the house causing a waterfall every time it rained. Since the gutters were pretty new, I did not get new gutters for the rest of the house. They had removed and reinstalled my existing gutters. He was very fair in his pricing, so I moved forward with the contract. And he gave me a 10 year warranty! His partner, Ramon, came with installers the following day and completed the job within 2 days. They were all polite, professional, and accommodating. I would definitely recommend them. The job was beautiful and they cleaned up afterwards!

I found JNH Construction by accident while looking for something else on Yelp. The reviews were…read morevery good so I called them. Hasan and I made an appointment for a few days later. He listened as I explained what I wanted. He described in explicit detail what could be done to remedy the situation concerning the brownstoning of the stoop and cementing beneath the stoop. At his point I had already had several price quotes and description from other vendors. Hasan's description and price was by far the best. We set a start date for 3 weeks later. Hassan's contract was in detail as was discussed. His payment plan was even better: 10% at the signing of the contract, 40% at the start of the project, 40% midway through the project, and 10% upon completion. Unbeknownst to him, this made the project even more affordable because it would take a few weeks to be completed. Additionally, he gave a timetable/estimate of how many days the work would take (depending on the weather) as well how the work would be divided into sections. Hasan came with his workers on the very first day and outlined what was to be done. He would come on a daily basis unannounced (I think) to inspect and examine completed work. His level of professionalism, skills set, and competence is unmatched by any other contractor that I have come in contact with. Hassan's workers have an excellent work ethic. They report to work in promptly and begin to work immediately. They are prepared to work complete with the appropriate materials and tools. As you watch them work one can see they are well versed in their profession. They work proficiently, diligently, skillfully, neatly, and quietly. They were very accommodating and followed requested specifications exactly. Each day they left the area they worked on spotless. I would hire them again and I strongly recommend JNH Construction Co.

I had to hire a professional licensed plumber to fix the bathroom. In addition, we had hired Nelby Contracting to fix our sidewalk and backyard. I thought they had done a good job until 5 months later the sidewalk pavers began to swell up and rise. I let Nelby know of the situation and he promised to pass by and repair the issue. Nelby never showed up to fix the problem. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Nelby Contracting and had to hire another contractor to remodel the rest of my apartment. The team was very professional and hard working, patient enough to hear and apply our requirements. Sadly today he unclogged a tennis court drain and charged me 481.50. He charged me by the hour to regale me and my painter with stories of his father's passing when he was 5 years old, and the decent rearing his mother gave him and his sibling despite her single parent status. Then he went on about the new house he moved into after living with his mother and stories of a movie star (Chaz Palmiteri) that he installed sprinklers for, who owned a German Shepard that bit him on the buttocks and drew blood. He included a lecture about people who sue for such things but not him, no sir. Finally he told me how his uncle had trained him as a plumber and put in a plug for his previous employer Michael Palotta and his blue trucks and his father Cesar who had passed away. He also sent me on a wild goose chase suggesting my sprinkler main was broken and it was not. He continued to experiment with ideas of what might be wrong with my sprinkler long after my irrigation expert assured him over the phone that the main shut off was closed. He even called him back to ask more questions after he had been told the system was working perfectly and is monitored remotely by an app which would have shown problems. After all this blah blah he charged me by the hour. Very dishonest!!! I tried to suffer his jabbering politely as I am a physician and know some people are lonely and need to vent, but I never intended to pay for his therapy! Beware of people who think they deserve payment for wasting your time.

We hired JDM Contracting to do the job, which entailed removing 15 running feet of plaster wall on the other side of the kitchen wall, removing a portion of the laundry closet wall, replacing the drain pipes and water pipes for both the kitchen and laundry, replastering the walls, and repainting. I couldn't believe that the bedroom wall would ever look as good as it did beforehand, but it was perfect, thanks to the plasterer who was a master craftsman. Mickey Bagley was a pleasure to work with. His men were professional, highly capable, courteous, trustworthy, reliable, responsive, punctual, and as unobtrusive as you can get in this kind of space. It was such a relief to have someone that I could count on to do a great job.

The owner, Larry is a super nice guy and he is very knowledgeable, reasonable and helpful. He was the main reason we hired them to remodel our kitchen, then our basement, our 2nd floor bathroom, our garage and our porch. The only issues with this company is that they lack communication between teams, a lot of the contractors they use make things worse and then they have to bring in someone else to fix those mistakes. But they do it, they fix the mistakes. It might take 6 months for it to get done, but if you nag them enough they eventually get to it. For example; we had them order custom windows and front door for our house. "Custom" means that they measure the opening and order something exactly that size. Well, when our custom windows came, they were all too small, so the contractors just added molding as a space filler. Now they're smaller than the originals. But we were very upset about this, as expected. So, for the last 3 months we've been awaiting the installation of the correct size windows. One great thing is that when they quote you a price, it's very reasonable. You don't get a ton of sticker shock with them. And they tend to stay at or below the quoted price. You just have to stay on top of them, constantly.

However, on Black Friday when everyone else was enjoying the holidays LA Design showed up. Within an hour they had the house boarded up and told us, "Don't worry about a thing, we will handle everything." Those words would turn out to be their mantra the entire process of the rebuild. Their knowledge of the insurance process made it possible to secure every penny available to us by our insurance company without issue. Even when we ran into trouble with our bank issuing funds, they did not stop work like other companies would have for non-payment. LA Design kept working and knew exactly how to handle the situation. They just went above and beyond for everything. The work that they do is outstanding. They are true craftsmen and employ some of the best workers around. The house they built for us is truly beautiful and we couldn't say enough about it. During the construction we rented a house nearby, allowing us to stop in at any time to check on the progress and nearly every time Larry Jr. or Larry Sr. were on site. In the rare chance they were not there, if we called with questions they would make it a priority to stop by. Larry Jr. and Larry Sr. didn't see this as constructing just a house for us, but building our home. They understood the pain we were going through and actually listened to everything we had to say. They were humble, caring and had a great sense of humor, making the entire process a lot easier than it could have been. You hear horror stories about contractors, and this was quite the opposite.
