AGM Window and Door - Electric bill from $228 6/2021 to this year after windows replaced ;)

AGM Window and Door

WINDOWS PAYING FOR THEMSELVES Last year we bought our…read moretownhouse that has 20 windows that were 25-years-old and quickly realized that we would have to get them replaced because the temperature in our home was not able to be regulated. First we got a $25,000 estimate from a contractor who was going to use the cheapest windows on the market. Then a $46,000 estimate from Renewal by Anderson, which we almost got sucked into. Finally after much research of window brands and companies we contacted AGM Windows for an estimate. Paul contacted us quickly and came out to show us the window he uses and give us an estimate. He was so pleasant and professional to work with and quickly responded to all our questions. We got an estimate for 20 Okna 600 windows, highly rated, for a substantial amount less than the cheap windows the contractor was trying to stick us with. In addition, Paul worked with the HOA for the approval, so helpful! The installation crew was AMAZING...organized, clean, and communicative. The only reason I waited to write this review is because I wanted to see and compare our electricity bill from last year to this year and boy were these windows and company we choose a great decision. Our bill last June was $228 this June $86...now that's awesome and so is AGM Windows ;)

We have hired AGM Windows three times since 2016: first in our home in Jersey City, NJ; second in…read moreour current home for 9 windows, and the third time in our same home for 5 windows. The first time I interacted with AGM Windows was a bit weird, since AGM Windows' website was hacked in 2016. But since that time, there have been no problems getting to his website or contacting the owner, Paul. Paul is still the owner and still personally shows up to examine the windows and to take final measurements. After paying a deposit and signing the contract, Paul orders the windows form his supplier, and when the windows are ready, he sends 1 to 3 people to install the windows, depending on the size of the order and availability of his crew. It should be noted that these crew members have been working with AGM Windows since my first window order. It is good that Paul is able to retain the crew, since they are very experienced and can install the windows quickly and accurately. The pandemic caused supply issues for AGM Windows, so it might take longer to have your windows ready and window prices have gone up (Paul showed me an email by his supplier announcing price increases). However, Paul and his crew still work consistently and expediently to install the windows once they have them from their supplier. Despite the price increases on the windows, AGM Windows' overall project quotes are still lower than those of other window installers (i.e. the ones that advertise on TV, radio, and your local coupon mailer), and AGM Windows does not do sales gimmicks or sales pressures. AGM Windows is a "no frills" and to-the-point window installer. I still highly recommend them.

WDI carries some fantastic brands. We received 30+ replacement Marvin Windows and 8 Arcadia Custom…read morewindows for large renovation/addition project. The size of our order and the variety of windows gives us a good glimpse into the operation. Based on that experience, I can say the company is not run well, and we experienced serious issues with their integrity. Our project was during the pandemic (June-Dec 2020) when supply challenges and other issues on the home front were challenging. During a crisis one's true self shows in how they respond and treat people. We had many vendors that delayed our project, particularly given supply pressures. Most were really good about sharing their challenges in an honest way, and we reciprocated with patience and understanding. Unfortunately, the owner of WDI was not this type of person. He was dishonest about placing our order when he said he would and then provided new timelines every week to cover up his mistakes. It's possible some of the delay may have been out of this control--but given the number of errors he made (window color, glass type, metal type), it was hard to trust him. Never once did he own up to his mistakes and empathize with the impact it would have on our family. Ultimately, he could never get over his ego to say, "I'm sorry, I messed up." If he had, it could have been easier to trust him on all the other issues he had during the project. It's possible he faced some unique challenge more severe than our other 10+ suppliers, but it seemed he is accustomed to operating with many errors. I wish the experience was different and wish anyone that works with WDI more success. He did ultimately deliver our windows and corrected most of the errors--but the effort we spent and the time we lost on our project was painful, costly, and unnecessary. Consider PrinceWd.com or Northeastco.com. Both companies had tried to help save our project but we were too far in with WDI.

UPDATED REVIEW: We had the pleasure of Windows & Doors, Inc…read more to replace the windows in our condo. We needed wood, double-hung windows painted a specific color in order to adhere to the Historic Preservation Committee guidelines. We had a wonderful team for our window installation. Everyone we worked with from John with the initial estimation during our closing, to Shawn who walked us through the process and took measurements, to Pete, Ed, Ronnie, Ray and Ron were incredible and friendly. The team worked efficiently and it was easy to tell they were very experienced in their craft. They put down protective coverings on the floors and over the furniture and left our condo neater than we had it when they arrived. Pete took the time to show me how the windows worked and the team listened to my questions and addressed any (minor) concerns I had before they headed out. And, I can't believe they worked through lunch. It was a long day and they plowed through and worked diligently. Each of the guys was very polite and friendly. Though, of course, they were welcome to use the restroom, they each asked before they went in. They were incredibly organized, always having the next step ready and set up for the team to execute. In addition, they neatly bundled all of the debris so when the truck arrived on site to take it away, it was loaded in the truck 1,2,3. I would absolutely recommend the Windows & Doors, Inc. team to anyone looking to replace or repair their windows. It was a pleasure working them! PRE-INSTALLATION REVIEW: I was referred to Windows and Doors by the owner of another unit in the Condo building where I'm buying. I'm currently under contract and in the home inspection negotiations phase of the purchase process. The condo building where I'm buying is required to adhere to Jersey City's Historic Preservation Committee (HPC) standards and this made it a challenge to find the suitable window solution. That is, until I called Windows and Doors, Inc. I spoke with Phil at 8:30am and asked if there was any way someone could meet my fiancé at 10:30am that same day. We only had a small window of time in which we were allowed access to the unit to take measurements and secure estimates for the work we want completed. Phil let me know that while the team had an appointment that morning, he could squeeze in an appointment for us exactly when we were hoping they could meet us. Even with the very small amount of lead time, John H. and Shawn arrived on time and met my fiancé to get the measurements. They were very professional and courteous and let us know they would provide an estimate the following day. I received the estimate at 7:41am on the day they promised to deliver it; well under 24 hours from the time of measurement. I truly appreciate Window and Doors, Inc's responsiveness and look forward to working with them once we close on the condo.
