This company was referred to me by another satisfied customer. But I had a very different experience. When I met John, he seemed very professional and trustworthy, and although I felt the quote for the work needed was quite high, decided to proceed based on the referral and my first impressions. They were hired to install crown molding and baseboards, and paint the entire apartment. The first thing to go wrong was the cable rewiring (prewar apartment), as in the process the guys put metal staples through the wires causing my internet, phone and TV to stop working. This was only discovered once the crown molding had been installed over the wires, and on the Friday before Columbus Day weekend (so they did not return to work until the following Tuesday). I was offered a credit for the cost of the rewiring (which was for the most part eventually seemed to be fixed), but then that offer was rescinded once work was completed. Was harassed with text messages from John over the situation, but I only paid a portion of the rewiring charge (a very small portion of the overall bill). Then less than a month after the work was completed, the crown molding started to pull away from the wall and show seams. I was hoping to attach a picture as illustration of what most of the apartment looks like, but unfortunately cannot. When I expressed my disappointment to John, his reply was to say he was more disappointed in not being paid in full. Be very wary what you ask this company to do. I must say the painting team was great, but unfortunately the paint job is somewhat ruined by the situation with the crown molding (which was done by another team). Due to John's failure to understand that a client's inconvenience is actually worth something, and the fact that he does not stand behind his work, I cannot really recommend this company to anyone. read more

Much like the other one star review posted by Ginger H, this company came to me from someone who was very satisfied with their work. However, also similar to Ginger H, they were expensive, did not do a good job and do not stand behind their work. It's difficult to know where to begin. This was a bathroom gut renovation. After the first week of demolition/construction, I noticed the plumbing was installed off center in the shower. I pointed this out to John immediately but it never rectified. The floor was grouted before it was sealed and resulted in 'grout haze' which I also had to point out to them. This was partially repaired. My hallway, office and dressing area was marred with scratches and scuffs during the project that John and co. barely addressed before walking away leaving me to clean up and touch up after them. And there were many other instances of miscommunications, additional charges and poor workmanship. The final blow was when I pointed out to John that they had 'completed' the job without sealing the grout between the tiles on all four walls in the bathroom. For those unfamiliar with tile work, this is NOT an optional task. Cement-based grout must be sealed to retard mold growth, to prevent moisture from working its way under the tiles and to generally maintain the life of the grout and tiles. When I asked John to arrange to come back to complete this final task, his response was that he would work up an estimate!!! Hiring Kennan Ash was a huge mistake.
