I have visited this nursery a few times now, and I really enjoy coming. The first visit the employees seemed a bit standoffish and seemed preoccupied, and weren't offering any help, but then a gentleman stepped in and helped me carry the large plants to my car. The prices are very fair, and they have a great selection. I really like walking around and taking my time to browse. They have a selection of pots both inside and outside. This is a large nursery with a good variety. A lot of the plants did not look that great and I found that the prices were high (a lot in the $30 range where I can get the same plant elsewhere for $10-12). What I didn't like about my visit was a staff member followed us around in a distance which made thus feel uncomfortable. He didn't speak but was just far enough to see. read more

Excellent support and knowledgeable, helpful people! I wanted a "citrus salad" tree (a tree grafted with multiple citrus fruits on one tree stock) and they had one in stock. I couldn't plant it right away but I bought it and they held it for me for a month. The delivery setup was easy, and they called on that day before they arrived--the first day of Spring! The tree is healthy and producing buds for fruit, yay! The guys dug the hole, amended the soil with the amendment they recommended and I had purchased, placed the gopher protection bag (also their recommendation and my purchase) on the root ball and filled in the hole, tamping the dirt down while they filled it. They then gave me advice on watering and feeding it for the first year. I am very happy with this nursery! read more

Some things are ridiculously expensive to the point of offensive. Such as potting 3 regular succulents in a pot, throw some stones in it, and sell it for over $100??? These pots go for $29.99 at home depot, except with way more succulents in the pot. And then some other again very regular succulents that could grow in one season to the size they are selling it for over $40? Why? You could buy those succulents for $2 and in one season it would grow to the size they are selling at a ridiculous amount. Then I think some other flowers were reasonably priced like dahlias for $7. For quality, size and variety I thought their roses were sold at a reasonable price, slightly higher than normal, but they have some unique selections. I would come back for their roses, but probably nothing else. However I am tempted not to come back at all, because I feel like they are trying to rip off their customers. I have never been to any other nursery where they over price their items like this nursery. Did you see their yelp photos of a pot of orchids that they are selling for $500? Guys please don't be fooled! You can buy those orchids individually put them in a bigger pot for around $150! One Orchid costs around $14 (depending on size) just pick and choose 8 or 9, put it in a pot with correct medium of orchid mix and sphagnum moss. You could actually buy a small orchid for around $5-7 each. One saving grace, their staff are really, really nice, great customer service! At the end of the day, I would come back if they would stop trying to rip off some uneducated 1st time gardeners. read more

I did notice some things were overpriced which is why I took 1 star off. They have an impressive stock of popular houseplants that are mature and large but expect to pay $$$, perfect for the experienced houseplant owner looking to upgrade. For example, they have an amazing out of this world Song of India tree that literally needs to be scouted and placed in an arch digest house but it's selling for $500. We got a few small plants and some Superthrive which is hard to find these days, Armstrong doesn't even carry it and forget about about finding it at home depot, where they stare at you when you ask lol. Reviews bases on my purchase of 3 fruit trees. Fuji Apple Nectarine Valencia Orange I picked out the trees l, they already started to bare fruit which was cool. They planted all three and total payout was almost $600. Which was a little expensive but the service was really good and seems the planters care about doing the job properly when they come over. The best part is they all spoke English so I understood everything haha. I may be getting a few more trees I saw. They delivered and planted same day and the selection is really nice. read more

I love this place. I live nearby so sometimes I go just to look around like it's a garden. When I was looking for tomato and cucumber plants they had so many varieties! They have varieties you can't find in the box stores. Probably 25+ tomato varieties. They also had the purple alyssum in addition to the white. The plants I ended up buying are so healthy and prolific, I'm still getting tons of tomatoes months later. Yes, it's a little more more expensive than Home Depot or any other mega discount store. But it's an independent business with knowledgeable and helpful staff that I don't mind supporting, especially during the pandemic. read more

I have been looking for a spider plant and snake plant for a month. All my local stores were either extremely expensive or didn't have any. I finally found it here. La Crescenta Nursery had a great selection. I was very impressed with their collection of indoor plant. There were different sizes and different prices for the plants. I could choose ones larger in a nicer pot or a smaller one in one of the little plastic pots. The people were also so friendly and helpful. I walked into the area with fertilizer, mulch, etc. not really knowing what to get. Someone had spotted me and asked me if I needed help. He also recommended an option. When I looked hesitant because of the size, he offered me a different option for the plants I was holding. I was looking around for pots and someone else offered to help right away. While the staff walking around and assisting customers are mildly knowledgeable and kind, management and store leadership are seriously lacking. I would much rather be writing a post about this place that is positive, my experience has been anything but. Most other stores offer a discounts. Most other stores guarantee their products at the very least within the SAME week of buying them. This place doesn't. Once they have your money, it matters not what happens to what they sell. After spending nearly a grand there, ALL of the outdoor plants died within a few days despite watering and appropriate care. Now I'm off to A DIFFERENT nursery to get the same plants. I purchased a hopa crabapple tree and total spent $200 w/$25 delivery fee. I asked if the was a warranty on the tree and was told that there wasn't but that they would come and take a look at the tree if it is not doing well in next couple of weeks. Sure enough about a week later there was some serious sap leakage at one of the branches. The rest of the tree looked fine except for this one spot. I called and asked if they can come to look at the tree as they said they would but got put on hold. i could sense that they didn't want to make the 5 block drive to my house. I offered to send pics of the problem spot so that maybe I can save them time. I was provided an email to send pics to but have not received a reply in a week. The tree continues to leak sap but nothing I can do except wait it out. It's not worth paying an arborist to come out. If you like spending top dollar for plants that have no warranty and a company that does not stand by their promises... this is the place for you. read more

This is the best nursery I have ever been to. The staff is very knowledgable... Parking is not a problem... They have many many spots right outside of the main store. The nursery is unique in that it is split up into many different sections in an outdoor setting mixed in with a few green houses and gardens. They have everything that you could possibly need to grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers..... Large selection of pots and other garden decorations. Very reasonably priced. My sister is the one that is into gardening... I'm trying to learn from her... But I kinda sorta hate sunshine... Unless I am at the beach... What a shame! This go-to nursery changed ownership and everything successful was dropped. Why do people take over a successful business and then change everything that made it successful, is a mystery. This once happy, beautiful, large-selection nursery is now sad and empty with equally miserable looking employees and plants. The selection, at least for house plants, was dismal and the indoor-plants hothouse was mostly filled with gigantic plants of no use to normal people with normal size rooms plus few and monotone small plants which for the most part looked like needed intensive care. For the first time ever I left this place empty handed. What was even sadder was that when an employee asked me if I was finding what I was looking for and I replied "Not really, a lot of changes", the person who I am 100% sure is the new owner, kept busily changing more things to his own liking and completely ignored me. True, one of the privileges of ownership is being able to change whatever you want whenever you wished and to your own liking. But if you never bother to find out what your customers want you will soon no longer be an owner. read more

Today we decided to choose plants for our rooftop patio which gets lots of sun. My beau had been to the nursery and has been recommending it for weeks. We arrived and immediately received a welcome and instructions where to find the sunny or bird-attracting plants. The choices are really nice and set up in sections so that you can find items appropriate to your garden. We got salvias, coreopsis, 2 varieties, queen anne's lace, vinca and a bunch of others in great mixed colors. We keep lots of color on the patio and with our trumpet vines and bougainvillea plus several different hummingbird varieties in the foothills we enjoy dinners up there with the birds. I would have liked to see more regular tomato plants for what was there either was a gigantic pot for $18 or some smaller grape tomatoes for $4 or so. I wonder if we were going there too late in the season for other tomatoes... Could be our misunderstanding of the season too. Other vegetables and herbs were good. Staff at the greenhouse are plentiful and we got help taking the wagon of stuff to the car. The staff place a barrier under the flats when they put items in the car so that you don't get dirt all around. Prices of the flats and pots were very reasonable. I much prefer coming here than to a big box store (where my nostrils are eroded by the attack of pesticide odors in the air). This place is peaceful, beautiful and a great new find. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed La Crescenta Nursery yet! As my rating reflects, I LOVE IT HERE. There are plenty of parking spots as you pull into the nursery. This is a LARGE nursery that you can spend a lot of time just wandering around, taking in all of the gorgeous, seasonal plants. We've used this garden for so much - during our wedding planning, we decided against fresh cut flowers, and instead bought a bunch of small to medium succulents, as well as their really cheap terra cotta pots! We spray painted the pots, planted the succulents, and VOILA!! Instant table dressings for the wedding for NOTHING. Their succulent selection was expanse, and beautiful. The colors of their plants were gorgeous, and they were all so healthy. Our guests all loved it, and they all were taken to different homes around the country! We also come here for all of our vegetable garden needs. They sell raised bed / planter boxes, tons of healthy, in-season veggies, and have a HUGE selection of soils. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and so helpful. They've always been able to answer my stupid questions, and managed to make me not feel dumb about myself. I highly recommend this nursery. The prices are a little higher than some of my other closer nurseries, but the selection, health of the plants, and the knowledge of the staff cannot be beat. read more
