Went in yesterday and it was a hit or miss experience in receiving help. I walked into the lumber section to find a young man literally leaning across the help desk twiddling his thumbs. There were no other customers around. When I asked where to find an item, he stood to poiiiiint in the general direction of the item in the back of the store. That was all he did to offer to "help". I didn't find the item, and gave up. He guy I assumed, went back to his twiddling. I then went to the garden section for mosquito repellent was approached by a delightful young woman who went above and beyond looking for the out of stock item, checking in the back, asking others and finally approaching me again at the checkout line with an alternative solution. I LOVE being able to support local businesses, and will continue to do so. I'm hoping this was a fluke and the twiddling guy just was having a moment. read more

I purchased a 3-foot toilet auger last night. It is still completely sealed in the original plastic packaging and has never been used. After I got home, my husband told me we actually needed a longer auger. I returned to the store today simply to exchange it for a longer one and even offered to pay the price difference. I was not asking for a refund or trying to return the item. Despite that, the store refused to exchange it, saying it was their policy because they had told me at the time of purchase that the item was non-returnable. I understand the difference between a return and an exchange. This wasn't about getting my money back--I just wanted to purchase a more expensive item instead. Refusing to accommodate such a simple request on a brand-new, unopened product shows a complete lack of customer service and flexibility. As a result, you've lost me as a customer. I'll be leaving reviews to share my experience because this level of customer service is disappointing. If this is how customers are treated, I believe you'll continue to lose business. read more

OMG you guys- 100% of the time I go to any hardware store I am ignored like its circa 2020 and I have Covid. So when I walked in today and Wyatt and Dorian both swiftly assisted me (I walked in as usual looking lost on earth) I almost passed out from shock. They were both SO friendly, genuinely listening to my ramble about what I need and they were sooo informative that I had to take a moment and check I was at a hardware store and not my therapists office. I needed keys duplicated, random parts for my new home and ALL of my questions were resolved thanks to them. Im still in shock as I write this review. This review is based on a visit that I had during the LA fires. I was evacuated and needed to purchase flashlights and an AM/FM battery operated radio. Looking up a battery operated radio. There was only one place that had it do it yourself center. They only had two left, and I took a chance if they would be open. I went there and they were open. They had their generators going. They had two registers. They welcome me in. The place was somewhat dark. They had employees at the front with flashlights, greeting you and taking you back where you needed to go. This was unbelievable service In such a difficult time. I am impressed with the manager for their resilience and making sure customer service was first and foremost. Based on what I could see, the store was very well stocked organized, and the staff was friendly. I will go back now that I've been there and know what the service is like and they are there for the community and a time of need. read more

Updating my rating after being contacted regarding my experience. Genuinely shocked and offended by what I witnessed this afternoon. A manager was yelling at an employee in front of customers and other staff. The entire scene was completely inappropriate and uncomfortable to witness. The other employees looked stunned and kept their heads down while assembling tables, it was clear this wasn't just a one off moment. I actually approached the manager and told him directly that the way he was speaking to his employee on the sales floor was not appropriate. He didn't say a word and simply walked away, which only reinforced how unprofessional and dismissive he was acting. I didn't get a chance to ask his name and it seemed he was the only available manager so I just left. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior from someone in a leadership role. Managers should know how to address concerns respectfully and in private, not humiliate their staff in front of others. I sincerely hope this is addressed by upper management. In the days before it was possible to get advice on line, they were always there to patiently explain things for me, even if they didn't result in a sale. You cannot find this kind of old-fashioned service in Home Depot or Lowes. I'm so glad that I live close enough to go there about 6 times a day during intensive projects :-) read more

Just came with the whole family to get a couple bags of decorative garden rock, but an employee stopped my wife at the door and demanded she hand over her purse because "store policy" doesn't "allow them" in the store. I can't even begin to count the reasons this is unacceptable. We left immediately and will never be coming back to this sexist, paranoid, dumpster of a store. I went in to the store to buy some paint and one wasn't fastened well. The whole store was nice about it and they came out to clean my car up but they also damaged some of my property including a 130 dollar cargo cover my daughters shoes her stuffed animal and my phone cover. They didn't offer to replace my stuff, they gave my daughter a bag of chips and said sorry and when I called to speak to the manager Victoria she made me feel like a crazy person for even implying they should replace it. She gave the cargo cover back to me saying it was perfect and it's still covered in paint and damaged from the cleaners now. I have recently had to pay to replace the damaged cargo cover with no offer of reimbursement from the company. read more

While my DIY needs are quite limited, this is my local store and my first port of call for anything.- propane, the odd bolt/screw, tin of paint and recently a whole patio set. I really rate the customer service here very highly indeed. Every time I've shopped here (which at this point is dozens of times) someone has been able to help me and been pleasant to deal with. I have I sure to this place recently when I was working on a big project, because there isn't a Home Depot close by. And I've got today I was surprised with the amount of stuff they have. It is not a Home Depot, but it isn't anything less either. I was able to find everything I needed, and the staff members were very friendly, they always answered any questions I might of had, and even took time out of their work to walk me to the section themselves. A big box hardware store that still maintains a small town feel. Whenever I come in, I'm offered help. Maybe that's because I'm a single girl...but it's not offensive and I've actually needed the help. The last two times I've been working on fixing my toilet and required advice on the replacement parts...the staff was very helpful. They have a gardening area and a friendly resident cat that prowls around like it owns the place. I like their holiday display area and their clean restroom too. If you love terrible customer service, employees with attitude, and the audacity to speak down to you, feel free to shop here. Ernesto and Katelynn are absolute trash. I never speak about employees in my reviews, but these two were by the the most disgusting, most disrespectful people I've ever come across. If you buy things and come back to the store with a receipt to return it, they won't honor it. They just say "it's seasonal" we can't take it back. When I asked them where on their website or on the receipt it says that I can't return it, they said "it doesn't" HOW PATHETIC. Don't give this place your money. They are thieves and don't conduct an ethical business practice. Your better off going to ACE down the street. And the employees at DIY won't mind if there aren't any customers, I think they prefer it that way, because they hate customers, walk away while you're speaking to them, give attitude and get upset (sorry for assuming you have customer service skills) This store deserves to shut down.
