This WAS a favorite but, for some reason has really declined during our last two visits. Tonight there were four (4) of us -- upon arrival, they had no record of our reservation which was done (AND CONFIRMED) last week via FB Messenger. Nonetheless, they were able to accommodate us with only a brief wait -- overall, not a big deal. Service was average at best. Server was polite but did not write down our orders which meant coming back to confirm -- both drinks and food several times. We always enjoyed the pizza here so when we inquired about the pizza menu, none was provided but the server "rattled off" three pizza options. Not a good impression since, once we got a menu from the manager, there were plenty of choices. Took, what seemed like, forever to get drinks -- still not sure if there was actually a bartender or if the servers were handling the drinks. MUSIC IS INSANELY LOUD!!! TERRIBLE! Food was mediocre -- it used to be off the charts fantastic. Shrimp and Grits (two orders) were floating in grease from the onions and peppers -- it was awful. Pasta Alfredo, with shrimp and chicken was very good! Salmon with risotto was just okay. Long story short -- this place used to be fantastic, an absolute no brainer to visit regularly. But after three recent visits, we'll take a year or two off until they get their act together. read more

You're a restaurant in the business of hospitality, right? Perhaps share that with your employee named Ellie, who took it upon herself to nastily and aggressively berate my sister this evening. Let me paint a picture for you. Our party dined with you in observance of three family birthdays (my sister's being one of them) and brought a homemade cake to enjoy, just as we did last year when we reserved the vault room. Imagine our surprise when, upon receiving the checks, we were charged a $25 "cake cutting fee." I realize that's just semantics, like a "corkage fee," but maybe call it something else when the servers do no such thing. I digress. When questioned by my sister about the charge, Ellie told her in no uncertain terms that the cake cutting fee was clearly posted "on the door, the menu, and the website." Multiple members of our party thoroughly checked all three places and found it stated NOWHERE. The audacity! How rude and misinformed can one person be? Needless to say, an otherwise pleasant experience was instantly and wholly ruined by one person's lack of professionalism and tact. I've never had a bad experience at Copper & Oak, so I'm not sure what's gone wrong at La Cosa Nostra, but none of my meals there have come close by comparison. And you can be assured I'll never spend my hard earned money there again; in fact, I'll be hesitant to support Copper & Oak by mere association. I have nothing to fault this visit. The wines were great. The service was great. The entrées were delicious and the desserts were fantastic. The salmon on my entree had an unusual texture (seemingly from frozen, but I'd like to think not) but the dish itself was so good overall I can overlook this. It would have been superior if it could have been slightly less done but somehow the ensemble redeemed it all. The bread was delicious and we had a great time. Let's just say, I love a restaurant for the food, but we rave about the service here. I've managed restaurants, served/bartended for 10+ years and have always held my service standards high, working from restaurants in Bar Harbor Maine, to Atlanta, GA. Our server Grayson was attentive, kind, honest and informative. He was a one of a kind server, and every restaurant needs a Grayson. The atmosphere was beautiful, gorgeous bar area and I felt like I was in a scene from an Italian restaurant. Food was wonderful, bread was perfection, soft/moist, salads were fresh and Caesar dressing was creamy. I had the fettuccini with chicken, and let me say it was the best Alfredo I've had in a restaurant in many years. Fettuccini was cooked Al dente, and the sauce coated very well. We were excited to try this restaurant but was disappointed in the food. We started with the calamari which was over fried and over salted. Our entrees were the pan seared salmon with lemon risotto which was the best out of all our entrees. My wife got the chicken saltimbocca, which was a little over fried and way too salty. My son got the shrimp fettuccine which he didn't finish. That spoke volumes to me due to the fact that he hadn't eaten all day and was starving as we sat down for dinner. He did say the shrimp was cooked perfectly but the sauce was flavorless and watery. The sides like broccolini and green beans were pleasant. The waitress offered cheese for our meal which we accepted. To my surprise, we were given a pizza parmeasan shaker of cheese. Come on, even Fazoli's shreds fresh parmeasan cheese for you. The decor is awesome...really enjoyed the whole bank interior but that doesn't make up for the food. First and foremost, this isn't my first time here. The first time, one year ago- GREAT. They offered a variety of things like balsamic pearls, caprese salad and cacio de Pepe, that were PHENOMENAL.(they were still pretty new at this point.) Second time- October 2024. The garlic bread was great, my lasagna was great. They didn't have tomatoes to make the ONLY thing my husband wanted, caprese salad. My husband's chicken parm was sub-par at best. The chicken was slimy and the marinara had no herbs in it. Very bland. Which brings me to tonight- our family birthday dinner. Our waitress, Dakota, was very sweet. This is NOT a reflection of her. We ordered our super expensive skirt steak with chimichurri, "mashed" potatoes and asparagus. My husband and I got the same thing this time. The steak was more like gelatinous goop, the chimi was basil pesto tasting and the potatoes were cold and had HUGE lumps. Not small little ones, like half a potato. It was not great. When we got our checks, all three tickets had a "cake cutting fee" on them. I asked to speak to our waitress, she wasn't around... so the hostess got Ellie. I very nicely asked what that fee was for..($25) she RUDELY informed me that if a patron brings in a dessert, you get charged that fee. She got super defensive and said," it's posted on our website, the menu and the door." Well Ellie- hate to say it, it's in NONE of those locations. I didn't appreciate being quietly yelled at or your attitude, after having a terrible dinner. Thanks but no thanks. This will be the last time we ever eat here. Here on business, I've found my go-to Italian oasis. Ate light but super impressed with what I saw. Can't wait to dive deeper. Americano coffee, black, and a tall water, heavy glassware with a logo so I learned a little about the joint next door. (Curious to try that, too). Prince Edward Island Mussels, like the best I've ever had were nicely complimented by a bright and tender (generous) garlicky spinach side order (enough to share if both are in a generous mood) I dined alone and cleaned my plates. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan & fried Calamari as take out. I was SEVERELY, SEVERELY disappointed. Unfortunately, I expected it. I did however have hopes since I believe one of the owners is Italian, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. There was absolutely no flavor. None whatsoever. I would like to give it another shot, as I typically do with most restaurants, but my expectations are pretty low. The place looks gorgeous from the outside I will give it that. This place was definitely worth the drive. Service was impeccable, the food was amazing and the cocktails were perfection! They were serving a special sangria made with blueberry wine that was so delicious and refreshing! I ordered Tuscan salmon and added scallops and the dish was exactly what I hoped for! Ordered the Italian Ham sandwich with extra pesto which was amazing (typically restaurants don't add enough but the normal amount would've been enough as well). I did an online order for pick up and i got a call back about the soup of the day. The one i chose wasn't the soup of the day so i got the chicken noodle soup and it was great! The customer service was also awesome every single person inside was super friendly and they all had big smiles. Our sandwiches were actually really big i only finished so now i have dinner for later! Upon arrival i walked in and it was very clean and BEAUTIFUL. I was greeted by everyone. I don't understand all the bellyaching going on here. The place is excellent, and what a coup for Danville & surrounding towns. Outside of Louisville & Lexington, where are you going to go for the quality of food, drinks, service, and ambience that are offered at La Cosa Nostra? Too many people suffer the delusion that they're professional food & wine critics. You're not. No, really, you're not. I'm not, either. Let's all relax, get over ourselves, and allow these restaurateurs to settle in & hit their stride. I'm now going to attempt to be grateful. We've tried take-out twice & have dined inside once, all enjoyable experiences. Got two Margherita pizzas one afternoon for take-out, both delicious. Thank you. Dined there one afternoon when a power outage happened 10 minutes after we ordered. We were given extra table lighting, and our dinners arrived hot and delicious. We were attended to each step of the way, and were not charged for the chocolate cake that we ordered to-go. IMHO, that served as a little added class to our dining out that day. Thank you. One of the take-out experiences was a few days ago for Mother's Day. We had planned to dine in but needed to stay at home. During the phone order I happened to mention that She Who Must Be Obeyed really enjoys their raspberry salad dressing. When I arrived to pick up the dinners the young lady (don't recall the name, lovely and personable blonde woman with braces) said, "I gave her extra dressing!" When I unwrapped the food at home, m'lady's salad was truly wonderfully presented (sorry, I have no photo), and she certainly did provide ample salad dressing. I truly appreciate that. Thank you. My steak dinner was also presented well, and tasted delicious. The spinach and the garlic potatoes were delicious, and the steak was excellently grilled with a lovely pink center. And these meals were not the usual skimpy take-out--the portions were large enough for a full meal the next day. Most places do not do that. La Cosa Nostra does. Thank you. The only constructive criticism I offer is that the dining room lighting needs to be increased [Yes, I said the lights went out while we were there, but I had thought that the lighting was too dim BEFORE that happened. AFTER it happened, it was REALLY dim ;o) ]. PS -- Over the phone, I asked if I could substitute the spinach for the broccolini & was told I could. When I unveiled the dinners at home I found that I was given both. My wife checked our receipt and we were NOT charged for the broccolini. PPS -- Anyone can find something to gripe about; I suppose it's easier than taking the time to reflect and then compliment on what went well. La Cosa Nostra is not perfect. Went on a double date night here last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! Lots of options for drinks, apps, and entrees. We all thoroughly enjoyed our four very different meals. Loved my holiday special cocktail and the music was great. Beer selection could have been better and our waiter could have been a bit more attentive, but I try to be patient during the holidays. Went for a special event. Muscles were very tasty! Bruschetta had a ton of onion which isn't my fave. Chocolate cake was rich and delicious!

My colleagues and I ventured here for lunch, excited to try the newest place in town. However our excitement was met with subpar service and low quality Italian food. Starting with the bruschetta which was drowned in Balsamic dressing, which made the bread soggy and the tomatoes looked liked carrots. Now to the main course, one colleague got a the house salad which was also drowned in Balsamic dressing which led to the fresh lettuce to be wilted and soggy. I myself had the Chicken Parmesan, which the chicken was fantastic but the sauce and the pasta tasted like something out of a can. The atmosphere was nice for a place in a small town like Danville, but the quality of the service and the food has to be held at higher standards than what is currently being presented. Dinner last night with my daughter. Decor is very attractive but table for two was entirely too small for the plates and glasses. The music; slow jazz Pop covers was dreadful and detracted from the ambiance-even 16yo commented. Bruschetta appetizer very good, Caesar salads nice, Chicken Saltimbocca (add spaghetti under to sop up yummy sauce) and Eggplant Parm both delicious. Servings very generous. Finished with Lemon Cake that reminded me of Italy- wonderful. Lemon drop martini was also delicious. Eve was our waitress. She was friendly and very attentive. Definitely worth a stop if in Danville. One star deducted for table size that required constant shuffling as food or drinks came and a little anxiety about ensuring nothing fell off as well as their music choice and volume level. read more

When here another time I ordered eggplant parmesan, it was as thin as lunch meat, the breading overpowered the eggplant. I thought I would give it another try today and asked the waitress if that was the norm and she said yes. So we ordered a plain pizza which they brought out with pepperoni, the crust was like cardboard. I only ate one piece, not worth the carbs!! My husband, at the last visit, ordered lasagna it was only SO SO, but seriously not worth the $25 price tag. I was curious and looked up how much Carrabbas lasagna is, it's $18 and seriously ALOT better. We won't be back. read more

La Cosa Nostra is the best Italian food in an hour and a half's drive in any direction. I am blown away by the quality of the dining experience here in Danville, KY. I have tried many things on the menu and the Chicken Marsala (with bucatini) is probably the best I have ever had, since Mama Gristanti's in Louisville 25 years ago. The chicken parm and lasagna is fantastic as well. Get a New Yorker pizza for an appetizer. You're welcome. The portions are very generous; I don't think I have every left without a to go box. I love supporting local eateries and expected to love this place, but the food was really disappointing. It's a beautiful location with a lot of character, so between that and the high prices, I thought it would be great. I had read that their spaghetti and meatballs was their signature dish, so ordered that for dinner. ($20) It came with a small, unremarkable side salad. The spaghetti portion was large, with thick pasta and plenty of sauce. There were two large meatballs, which were decent. The sauce was not good at all, and I was reminded of something a public school cafeteria might have served when I was a kid. It was not good. There was a large garlic knot bread on the side, and I was really surprised at how much I didn't like it. I don't think I've ever had bread that I disliked so much. I ended up eating the meatballs and salad and leaving the rest. I've never had such an unfortunate experience. My friend seemed to enjoy her meal, so hopefully there are better options on the menu than what I got. Other side notes: The music was a little too loud for the space and made it feel challenging to have a conversation. There are two front doors, one for takeout and one for dining in. If you go in the wrong one you have to go outside and enter the other door. It happened to me and a few others while I waited. Kind of awkward to have it set up like that. I like the location, decor, distinctive character of the place, and the concept. I hope they can improve their cuisine because this could be so great for Danville. read more

Very overrated for the prices but that's not all I made reservations a week in advance for 6:30 for 4 and a baby we didn't get seated until 7:15 yet they let walk ins go in front of us they put us in isle-way people we're hitting high chair walking by, had to ask for silverware and napkins $7.00 side salad small bowl lettuce couple tomatoes that's it. We had 2 pizzas they were good. I won't go back though hope you have better luck than we did if you go. I would like to add this is the next day and the owner called and apologized and offered a revisit. I am impressed by the customer service so therefore I have changed my opinion, and would like to try this restaurant again.. read more

We live in Danville and have heard many good things about La Cosa Nostra, but just got a chance to eat there for the first time last night with friends. My wife and I love Italian food so I thought it spoke volumes when my wife said her eggplant Parmesan was the best she'd ever had. I had the carne pizza, which was also fantastic. I don't recall what our friends ordered, but they were all very complimentary of their food as well. We were seated inside the vault, which dates back to when the building was a bank, so that was fun to experience and offered us a bit more privacy. Next time I'd like to eat at the bar or one of the other dining areas. I think it will also be fun to get sidewalk seating in the spring when the city finishes their multimillion dollar streetscape project. Will eat here again!! read more
