I was passing through the Alamo City and you know I just had to stop by for some morning fuel and…read moreroadie tacos! This time, I didn't forget to take some pics for y'all. However, this time I had something I hadn't tried before, which was the portobello torta, check the pic posted here, but I warn you, if a pic says 1k words, then a taste says a bagillion words (is that even English ?). But that's what happens when umami meets Mexican bliss. When your order is taken with pleasure and prepared before your eyes at this bustling establishment, it's flair mixed with fair. Go check out what has me coming back for more, time and time again. As I left, with my road tacs, the owner reminded me that the food travels well, I neglected to inform her that I didn't expect them to make it very far . Again, it's a must see scene here at Plantaqueria- hope to see y'all there.

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." I'd rate it about a 7 out of 10. Worth trying if you're already at El Camino, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. It's all tucked inside El Camino, which adds to the whole vibe, string lights, people hanging out, that easygoing outdoor feel where you lose track of time a little.

The line may look intimidating, however, it moves extremely quickly, and you'll be eating in no time. From standing in the line to sitting with maybe about 15 to 20 minutes total and I definitely think the hot air outside exaggerated the time. Yet, once we were inside the cool air, and the amazing smell made the wait desirable. Ordering a simple, you go up and you just say what meat you want and the number of tacos. I got three including brisket, steak, and al pastor. Those come with radishes, cucumbers, lime, and lots of cilantro and onion, of course. As you're standing in line, server will come by to ask if you want any drinks and prep a table for you we got a lemonade, a large one to share. Which was five dollars, and a refill will come at the cost of $1.08. There's a lot of meat in these tacos, while I got three, I only made my way through two sadly because I wanted to finish them all. The salsa you'll get at your table are two different types of green and a red one. The red one is hotter, but the green still has hints of heat. Both are delicious, but I could only manage to slather the green one on my food. At the end of your meal, you'll go up and pay at the counter by telling them how many tacos you had and that's it. There's tons of parking available, while the lights on the side may look busy they actually own the building next-door and all the parking in the back is available to utilize. If you're in San Antonio for any reason, I definitely recommend to stop here. This was the highlight of my trip. Despite the fact, I don't know if I'll return to the city.

There was a musician playing on the stage in front of the distillery which is a nice touch for those who want to sit outside. We ordered old fashioned cocktails. I loved that they were made with block ice and even embossed the ice with the Devils River logo. The mixologist explained they don't do smoked old fashions due to fire hazard and location in a historic building. But he still made an engaging presentation in creating our cocktails. There was no food offered but they let us bring in voodoo donuts. The two gentlemen at the bar were very friendly and attentive and made our late night visit a special treat. I'd like to learn on my next visit to see if they do distillery tours. I'm sure you'll enjoy a trip to Devil's River.

My wife and I use to frequent this place YEARS ago, the service was good and the food was good,…read moreyears later we decided to go back & mannn the food quality & service has went down terribly! Pulled up on a Friday late night with my family ordered the standard 5 tacos. They are a bit pricey as well. I ordered the carne Asada and my mother in law ordered the chicken. While it did seem like it tasted good it was super greasy. (TMI coming up) When I woke up the next morning my I noticed my bowels were literally moving the next day, (I counted about 9 times). I felt bloated and everything. My wife even told me that as we were pulling off she witnessed the cook I believe his name is Julio eating some of the product while he was preparing peoples food (the side door of the food truck was open so you could see right in). Funny enough we decided to go back Saturday evening to give them another try, thinking it would be better, BOY was we wrong. I ordered the same order plus charro Beans, elote (corn in a cup) and 3 cans of sprite. This time we took literally one bite and the meat was DRYER than the Saharan desert both the carne asada and the chicken. (Tasted like some reheated old meat or meat that had been made days prior). We were already at the hotel at this point and was infuriated!!! We ended up calling and I believe I spoke to Julio (or whoever the cook is) over the phone. After lying saying that he cooked the meat fresh that day he stuttered I told him aint no way the meat was fresh. He then said and I quote " I cooked the meat "a couple days ago" then said "sorry I burnt it or overcooked it". (Knowing that why would you serve that to me?) I then stated "yes it tasted old period". I requested a refund in which he agreed to. Driving all the way back I brought the food back as well. Julio (or whoever the cooks name is) tried to plead his case to me saying that the meat is fresh and took a fork and tasted the food himself and then tried to offer me the food. I told him "no I don't want to taste it, just refund me please" in which he did. Dishonesty, Not handling food with care, lying. Is something that crosses the line and I won't be back. *Also if the owner is reading this I have the phone conversation recorded and the video evidence to show proof this whole interaction, so do not just glaze over this review* I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is for sure warranted. Seems like they will dress up the taco and selling you some "old meat" people just be careful and mindful when coming to this taco truck. "The Earths Best Taco" they say... that's a stretch!
