The first place that I tried in Triana.

Food was decent, but somewhat forgettable experience out of all my experiences in Spain! Since it was a nice day out/in between dining time, most of the patrons were out on the patio. I was the only diner inside, so obviously atmosphere was somewhat lacking. We ordered various croquettes, fried bacalau, & some kinda sweet-ish, soft cheese inside a pastry pocket w/ either tomato OR sweet pepper jam. Out of the three dishes, the bacalau was the best and the mushroom croquettes. Both croquettes and pastry pocket though were on the sweeter side and unexpected. There was a bit of communication problem, but nothing major. They did have an English menu. Service was adequate, but not very personable or warm. So it was an eat and leave type place for me.

Brick Pastry Purses - Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful small restaurant next to the river, located at the corner of the road. We came Thursday night and there were relatively few people, so we chose to sit outside. We didn't know what to expect since we didn't know much Spanish, but luckily the server spoke English and they had an English menu so we were good to go! Among the various dishes we ordered were the brick pastry purses and the Iberian ham, which were extremely delicious, and the presentation was very nice. Also, just the atmosphere of Spanish streets and the fact that all the dishes were really good made it all the more worthwhile! The waiter was also very courteous and informative to us. Some portions can tend to be small, but overall regular portions. A wonderful place to stop by if you're around, would definitely recommend!

They have set menu that includes starter, main and desert, with bread and taxes. Excludes drinks. 2 menus, a glass of wine and a Coke, 23€. Good price, tasty food and nice Triana ambience.

The brick pastry purses were also excellent (don't question the name).

We tried Salmojero for the first time, it was weird at first, because we're not used to cold soup, but it grew on us, we liked it. Our server described it right, salmojero is like salad in soup form. The Calabacin was delicious, it was veggies with cheese on top of zucchini (I think). The squid ink spaghetti was good, but it seemed dry for me, I prefer my pasta with lots of sauce. It tasted good though, I just wish they spaghetti was all black noodles instead of mixed. I thought the black and white noodles together was not visually appealing.

I must say, all three dishes completely blew our minds. The squid ink spaghetti, which we shared, was packed with flavour, and the garlic infused beautifully into the perfectly al dente pasta. My wife especially loved the pluma ibérica--the meat was tender, well-seasoned, and, in her words, "divinely delicious!" As for my braised oxtail wrapped in crispy phyllo pastry, it was bursting with flavour and had an amazing texture. I enjoyed it so much that I finished the entire dish in less than 10 minutes. We've been in Seville for three days now, and this is by far the best restaurant we've visited. The Filipino waitress (unfortunately, we forgot to ask her name) was incredibly friendly and warm, which made the experience even more memorable. Great ambiance. I would say this restaurant is truly a must-visit for anyone coming to Seville.

Tapas should be a thing for most meals, if not all. Though I've been to Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville (all culinary standouts in their own right), I had the best tapas here at Castizo. Their take on the dishes is more innovative and creative, without losing sight of the traditional recipe. Fearing that I would miss out on a table if I didn't have a reservation, I made my way here a few minutes before they opened at 1 pm. There were a few other diners waiting to be one of the first to be seated for lunch, so I felt like this restaurant is quickly growing in popularity. The thoughtful, tastefully trendy decor helps -- the bright blue awning stands out on the side street when you approach, and I got to admire the beautiful tiles by the front door while I waited. It was hard not to over-order, as everyone on the menu sounded tantalizing, but we narrowed it down to some seafood tapas that called out to us. (I had heard that the main dishes here are hit or miss.) We went for the zamburiñas, grilled scallops with spicy chorizo sauce, as I had loved them so much in Barcelona and was intrigued by how Castizo's spicier version would taste. We also got the grilled squid with spicy tomato sauce and lemon mayo, the cod fritters (which I believe came with some black ink sauce on top), the toasted brioche with stewed meat and escabeche mussel, and last but not least, the potato salad with fried baby shrimps. The design of the tile exterior I had admired earlier made yet another appearance later once our dishes arrived -- I appreciated the attention to detail on the literal plates themselves, in a nice callout to Seville's home in the Andalusia region. Everything was delicious and I didn't find the service slow, though after perusing the other reviews here, that might be because I opted for lunch, not dinner.
