Literally horrible. Food was mid. Way too expensive to be tasting the way it did. There was no sign saying there is added gratuity. I got my check back with an 8 dollar tip even though my food was only 40. The service was not that good to have an 8 dollar tip. I was in the Lakewood area and we had already planned to stop here after running some errands. This was the first time I had been here and I'm always up for some good Mexican food. We walked in and were sat right away. Our drink order was taken just as quickly and we had plenty of time to look over the menu. The menu is large and has a lot of items, so take some extra time to ind what you really want. I ordered a raspberry iced tea with a number 14 - beef chimichanga and a chicken chimichanga with rice. Bonus, both chimichangas are smothered in white queso! The food came out quickly as well and looked great. The white queso was the perfect compliment to the chimichangas. The only issue I had was the chimichangas could have been crispier. Service was hit and miss at this point. When the waitress returned with refills, she returned with the wrong drink. After she brought the right drink, we didn't see her for a while, but she did walk by a lot without stopping at the table Overall, this was a good experience. Took my daughter here for lunch. Ordered a half apple juice/half water, one lime margarita, and a kids Chicken tenders and fries. Was brought chips & salsa: delicious Then ordered a tri-fecta dip appetizer and a burritos deluxe to go. The dip was 1,000 degrees but when it cooled it was very good. The fries were awful, my 2 year old wouldn't touch them. I ate 1/2 the dip. They wouldn't box it for me. Boxed up the kids meal. Received the burritos deluxe and went to pay. $60 plus I can't, y'all. Later my husband reheats the burritos deluxe... takes the first bite. The "sauce" is pasta sauce. No lie. Inedible. Tastes like chicken parm but you're expecting a rich amazing burrito bite from heaven. Shame on this place. I want a refund. read more

Tonight was the second time my finance and I have been to this restaurant and both times have been just absolutely amazing. The jalapeño margarita is literally the best margarita I have ever had. We sat at the bar both times and the bartender washed the jalapeño before she cut it and muddled it in front of us. The first time we got the lunch fajita to share and it was plenty for two. A regular takeout place for me when I'm in the area and craving quick Mexican food. It was especially nice when being COVID conscious, since I could still order my favorites and just drive by to pick it up. The best part about this is their vegetarian options - I have a good handful to choose from, and I don't feel like I'm missing out (at some other places the veg options are a bit lackluster). La Cocina just opened in the last few days. It is directly across from the Mexican restaurant that burned down a couple years ago but is NOT the same people or menu. First of all, the service was a little slow which can be expected for a place that just opened. Be patient because the food is worth it. While you wait, the chips and salsa are unlimited and is great! The salsa tasted very fresh and flavorful. Once the food came out it was all fantastic! Got the Chili Verde (pork and salsa) and a burrito fajita. Each meal came with refried beans, rice, lettuce, guac, and sour cream. I will definitely be back and I can't wait till they get their liquor license to enjoy a margarita. Highly recommend but again please be patient with the new staff. Lost a bet to my son. Tacos was the payoff. I lost sooooo badly I couldn't bring myself to payoff with Taco Bell. As much as I love TB. NO... this needed to hurt. So La Cocina it was. Sooooo good. Tres tacos plate with side of guac and large frozen Margarita tradicional. Brain freeze helps cool down their extra hot salsa. Perfectly packed with ground beef, salty and dense. Good Mexican food option in the area! I've lived in the area long enough to see a slew of Mexican restaurants come and go (rest in peace, la herradura), and some places impressed me more than others. Originally, La Cocina was located in the old Grazers building and the food there was OK. However, they relocated to where the old Wing City was and the food seemed to change with the location for the better. The interior is very vibrant and festively decorated, with colorful Mexican flags strung across the ceiling. What I like about this place compared to other places in the past is the increase in choices--the menu is very large and has more than your classic enchilada combo platter with either shredded chicken or ground beef. They also offer less commonly found items such as tamales and tacos al pastor. I got the tacos grill and was able to order three tacos: the al pastor, carne asada, and chorizo. All tacos come with some cilantro and grilled onions. Al pastor is a specially seasoned pork that's typically spit roasted and carved like how one would cook shawarma. Although this version seemed to skip this cooking process, the flavor was still very enjoyable and came with some grilled pineapple as well--both spicy and sweet. Carne asada is marinated steak and you can't go wrong with that--this one was tender and well seasoned. Chorizo is a Mexican pork sausage filled with spices. Although I love the flavor of chorizo, I found this execution to be somewhat over salted. Overall, the tacos are great--I wish they would use some kind of fresh or acidic vegetable (eg cucumber, red onion) to liven up the dish, however I do enjoy these more than your typical shredded chicken options. If you like heat like I do, eat them with the green hot sauce they have at the table. In addition, the meal comes with rice and beans as well as free chips and salsa for the table. read more

The parking lot and front patio were kind of a mess, so I almost didn't go inside... but venturing into the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Great decor in a warm and welcoming setting. The menu had many, many (almost too many) choices. Yummy warm nacho chips and salsa were brought to the table. I opted for a veggie combo with a tostada, a bean burrito, and a cheese enchilada.... and my friends ordered all sorts of tamales and tacos and enchiladas. The food on my plate was inconsistent. The tostada was pretty much a green salad on a crispy corn tortilla topped with guacamole. The bean burrito was barely edible... a flour tortilla filled with thin watery refried beans. But, the cheese enchilada was absolutely delicious... plenty of melted cheese inside and a complex and delicious mole sauce surrounding it. The service was inconsistent as well. We were greeted warmly and drink orders were promptly taken, and chips and salsa delivered and replenished.... but we had to ask repeatedly for silverware... and one person's food never arrived. I really hate to change my review so soon, but I've been 4 times now. Twice they were amazing, BUT the last two were really bad :( the Diablo shrimp were gritty like they weren't properly de-veined and they were rubbery like they were overcooked or old. The last taco chicken salad was a soupy mushy watery bland mess. The sec I mixed it and my fork hit the bowl it came in I sprung a leak. Chicken and salad water was literally gushing out the side of my soggy bowl onto my plate. I was out to dinner with my friend's mom so I didn't send it back to be polite. I asked for Franks red hot or any bottle of hot sauce so I could just pick the bland chicken out and eat it. 5 minutes later she dropped off hot salsa just walking by. This didn't help at all. My shell fell apart and I was grossed out, said I was full to my dinner party. Our waitress was very nice, but her English wasn't very good and she had way too many tables. We had a long wait to get refills, my hot sauce request, and the bill. After a 10 min wait we decided no dessert just bring us the bill, we were sick of sitting around staring at our plates. They have amazing desserts though. We went to Tim hortons down the street for coffee and ice cream instead. While visiting family in Jamestown NY I stumbled upon this place while stopping for some wine. We ordered an assortment of traditional Mexican dishes with some not so traditional. Everything we ordered lacked any real flavor and was over priced given the quality of food. Bland chicken and steak with old stale rice. No amount of sour cream or salsa could mask the poor excuse that passes for "flavor" here. Def avoiding this place at all cost. $18 burrito that was as heavy as a brick and tasted about the same. read more

The best Mexican restaurant in greater Jamestown. Yes, we have Taco Hut in downtown Jamestown; but that's really Mexican-American. I love Taco Hut...but it's a place in downtown Jamestown that serves tacos and Mexican dishes. THIS is real Mexican and has authentic Mexican food cooked by Mexican Americans with heavy accents. I had the vegetarian burritos and they were served very hot in temperature. My girlfriend had the enchiladas Mexicanas. The rice and beans on the side were excellent. We both enjoyed our meals and will be back. The service was balanced and everyone was friendly. The ambiance is good considering it's an old Perkins. Clean as it can be without a full remodel. Smiles and full bellies all around from the tacos, fajitas, and two of us tried the Morralito which was a bundle of chorizo in a fried tortilla swimming in queso. This is the awesome neighborhood Mexican restaurant where both Americanized Mexican can be found for kids and those less adventurous and authentic or family recipes can be discovered.
