Basil & Bones Menu
Edwin R.

Basil and Bones is a new BBQ place in the old Babalu Cafe location in downtown Jamestown. I didn't really know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance wasn't much to speak of and the bar area was quite bare, but the food was dynamite. I got pulled pork Mac and cheese. It came with fresh corn bread and let me tell you... the portion was huge. I ate that meal for two and a half days. I was a happy camper!

I enjoyed my amazing romantic meal here and was not disappointed. I LOVE their menu - food choices and wine selection - especially moving from the Philly area. The food was fantastic and the dessert was outstanding. The presentation of the delicious dishes were spot on. Shout out to one of the very knowledgeable managers/owners, since she chatted and shared her history! #urbansketching #italianrestaurant #dominico #cussewagosquare #meadvilllepa https://maps.app.goo.gl/phnjactTQb4AHsnV9?g_st=ic

This is one of the newest restaurants in Meadville, and is located in the new Cussewego Square…read moreDevelopment. I have been trying to get into this space for a meal for quite some time now. There is very little information about it online, and they have no social media that I have found. I found their Toast site online and couldn't find their hours. Finally, I found a way to make a reservation on Google. For my meal, I started with the Margarita Pizza. I was expecting a round pie, but this one was more in the shape of a flatbread, but the crust was more pizza style than flatbread, it was good. Next I had the Artichoke Appetizer. It was three full artichoke globes that were battered and deep fried, and served with a spicy mayo (full description can be found in my photos). I wasn't sure if I was supposed to eat the whole thing or not, so I asked the server, and they said most people do not eat the stem, but "it probably wouldn't hurt you." Well, challenge accepted, I ate the entire thing . . . LOL. Lastly, I had the house-made Gnocchi with spinach. The Gnocchi was very good with a light cream sauce, and some wilted spinach leaves. It would have been nice to have some bread to sop up the sauce with, but no bread was served (I asked afterwards, and if you want bread (I saw some tables with bread, and some without), it is an additional charge). It would also have been nice to have a small side-salad with my pasta, but I didn't notice that as an option. I had some leftovers, which my server boxed up for me. Overall, this is a nice place, a little bit fancy (and pricey) for Meadville, but overall, I would like to come back . . . Cheers! P.S. I asked about Gluten-Free options, and although they do not have a G-F menu, some of the dishes can be made Gluten-Free.

The Scarlet Vetter says.....First off, I really love this restaurant. The service, ambiance, and…read morethe food are top notch. Simply great. The owner is present almost all the time tending to things and checking in on tables. I have never ever had a bad meal here. Like not ever. Not even a mediocre meal. Always rates very good to great. From the steaks. To the seafood, to the Italian specialties.....just tops. It is hard to get into during the ski season, and not too easy even off season, so please do plan and make a reservation. If you can snag a booth, that is the best. The bar is a great place to come for a drink with a friend or to watch a sporting event. My most recent visit to the restaurant was this past Friday, a nice night in early May. We met some friends here for dinner. We had two appetizers of stuffed peppers which are absolutely amazing with just the right amount of heat, and the Nona's Meatball with gooey rich ricotta cheese.....yum yum. My husband ordered a house salad, which was crisp and delicious. For entrees, our companion couple ordered the twin filets and the fish fry. Both were reported to be fantastic. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan and I ordered the Chicken Milanese. Absolutely excellent. For dessert, both couples shared their own order of Tiramisu. I ordered an Espresso and that simply rounded out an amazing dinner. I really can't recommend this place enough.

Service was great and super friendly and we were seated immediately around dinner time. Since it was the "battle" it was loud inside but we didn't mind. Villagio's lies on the sidestreet in what looks like an old barn. It has a unique rustic charm that we enjoyed. It's an italian based restaurant that offers bread with olive oil and seasonings to start. We didn't realize that and also got cheesy bread which comes with a red sausce. Both were delicious. For entrees I ordered bucatini carbonara with chicken and my wife ordered the filleto's. Pricing was reasonable in the $20-$30 range per peson. We enjoyed the visit and had a great time!

I've been hooked for like 9 years!!! I've been coming since they opened and they literally (Hand To…read moreGod) just keep getting better!!! Nicest coolest owners/Chef. Amazing food consistently! Great friendly waitresses every time! Great Italian and Sicilian decor. The New thin crust neo pizza blows my mind! It's my fav pizza from them now! The New lasagna Wednesday is absolutely THE BEST IN TOWN. I travel A LOT and I swear it's up there with Mulberrys in Buffalo (on the Food Network, all the Bills go crazy for and frequent them). We need Josh Allen to start frequenting Sauce now too haha. Big delicious portions. Mind blowing desserts. Serve beer and wine. Everything is so fresh and made in house. Do yourself a favor and get their spicy fried provolone and arincinis too! *drooling* It's within walking distance of the La Quinta and the Double Tree hotels. Not far from the Comedy Museum, Fenton Museum, Robert H. Jackson Museum, Lucille Ball Museum, or Ice Arena. Awesome location.

Our waitress only had a few days on the job, but when a customer has to go ask about the food twice to make sure we weren't forgotten, makes the experience unpleasant regardless of how good the food is. If you are short staffed in the kitchen at the very least let people know it's going to be a long wait.
