We were in town for the Comedy Center and we looked for something close by because of the good reviews we went in , the food was beyond disappointing it just wasn't good , not fresh , not hot and gave my husband and indigestion. Pass it by. read more

This place has a very extensive Mexican food menu. Lots of things sounded good, but we settled on the Fish Fajitas and the Carne Asada. We also got a small side of guacamole ($6.50) to enjoy with our complementary chips with salsa. First, the chips with salsa. The chips were very good, on the thicker side and slightly salted. The salsa had a rich tomato flavor with a few chunks of jalapeño, but the salsa could have been generally a little spicier for my taste - maybe more jalapeño? The guacamole was mostly smooth with a few chunks, and was tasty. I enjoyed my fish fajitas. A piece of fish, salmon and 6 small shrimp cooked with a decent amount of grilled green pepper and onion. Nice portion ($16.75) and came with a large separate plate with pico, guac, refried beans, rice, lettuce and sour cream. Three flour tortillas accompanied the dish. The carne asada ($13.99) came with two nice sized pieces of grilled beef, grilled onions and grilled jalapeños and mushrooms. Also came with the rice, refried beans and other sides, including the flour tortillas. My partner found the carne to be slightly tough, but flavorful. Service was good. When we sat, the server soon brought over the chips and salsa and our food came fairly quickly after we ordered. We had to ask to have our empty water glasses filled, although the server did come over twice (when our glasses weren't yet empty) during our meal to ask if we wanted anything. The restaurant is small and not fancy. The prices overall look reasonable and I think there are options to try different things here, based on the extensive menu. read more

Good Mexican food and good service. While traveling on business, my wife and I stopped here. Found the meal good and the service pleasant. If we return to the area, we would probably return to this restaurant. read more

Been here several times. Not the friendliest seniorita. Ordered lunch after it arrived. I asked for chips and salsa. Didn't have it. Left my dinner 20.00 and won't be going back there. Could have told me before hand. read more

We were starving after visiting the Lucy and Desi Museum. So happy that we found this gem down the street. I love Mexican Food and it's hard to find classic, authentic Mexican Food. They really delivered. The chips and salsa were good to start. My mom and I loved our chimichangas. They were so crunchy and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his choripollo (chorizo and chicken) but it had too onions and cheese even though he said no cheese. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Definitely go check them out. read more

We came here mainly due to the ratings. We should have known better when we found out that they don't have margaritas and only carry 3 brands of beer. Food was mediocre and the waitress had no personality. Then they weren't able to break a $10 bill for tipping. Pretty disappointed. read more

YES! YES! YES! Look no further for good food downtown. This is your place. Ordered several dishes and all is delicious AND authentic. My in-laws are Mexican, I'm from southern CA, trust me -- this is what you want to eat if you are craving Mexican food. If you want to judge a book by it's cover, go spend $60 on a plate of fancy experimental yuppy food elsewhere. Only true foodies need eat here. Thanks for the smorgasbord of deliciousness to go! Oh, and the takeout containers are non-leaching #5 recyclable polypropylene for those concerned, not typical #6 carcinogenic non-recyclable polystyrene. Ya know, for those concerned about their health, the planet, and good taste -- still not applicable to superficial yuppies. read more

We've been there twice now and both times got the chicken wings. We are not from the area but made it a point to go back when we returned. I think they are the best buffalo wings I've ever had - and from a Mexican restaurant! The Mexican food was also very good. Fast service and nice people. Not a fancy place at all. It's a block away from the ice rink right by the downtown area. Give it a try especially if you are a wing snob like we are! read more

The facility smelt like sewage and had a sour smell when we entered. To say, we did not stay to eat.

This restaurant is everything we always hope to find when venturing into new territory- a friendly family operated establishment where the food is delicious, the service is friendly and prompt at a price that doesn't break the bank. Our meals were both delicious- the biggest problem was that the menu is so big you really have a hard time deciding what to order- everything looks so good! But no matter what you decide to have you are guaranteed to enjoy it! Eat in or take out, the food is ready in no time just the way you ask for it. This place is not on a route that we usually take when traveling west but I guarantee that we will be going out of our way to visit Damaris and her family again. Stopped by for an early dinner during the weekend and found the establishment just average. The restaurant itself was small and lacking anything that really stood out. The food was hit-and-miss with our party of 4. My brother-in-law and his wife really liked their steak fajitas, but said their refried beans and rice were bland. I had a burrito with a red sauce (which was excellent), but a handful of chicken and steak pieces inside were dried out or left on the grill too long. My wife's steak tacos were dried out and lacking any real flavor. On a positive note, our waitress was very friendly and kept up on refills and chips. The manager also checked in with us as well. I will probably go back again and try the food during dinner rush. I may have just gotten the rest of the lunch meats. Look for a future updated review of the restaurant because I feel that it was just an off-day from the kitchen. read more

El Jarocho is a no frills kind of place that offers some pretty good Mexican food in a friendly manner and in a clean environment. This should not surprise me. I have always said that the best Mexican food is not from some fancy or upscale kind of place, but rather from the humble, maybe a bit run down type of places. Places exactly like this. I would definitely recommend a visit here. read more

Food is over the top! The restaurant was recommended and I was glad we went. Our friend had tacos, my partner the burritos with a white sauce and me the grilled chicken with a red sauce. All the freshest hand made ingredients. I love Mexican and this is the best in Chautauqua County. Super reasonable price. Service was attentive, but something other than casual street clothes would be recommended. (Possibly a restaurant workers vest?) The place is tired and could use an update. Great for carry out I guess, cuz you gotta taste the food. read more

I was on a work trip and found this place and it did not disappoint. Food was fresh and authentic and the portions were enough to feed two.

Stopped in early on a Saturday evening for a quick bite. The salsa that came with the chips was perfect, crisp and fresh. I had chile verde and it was really nicely done; the meat was very tender and falling apart, the sauce was well seasoned. My boyfriend had the Chori Pollo, which I'd never had before. I was blown away by it, and kept stealing bites off his plate. The sides were standard, nothing too exciting. The interior was nothing special, but the prices were great. Good, inexpensive Mexican food -- you can't beat it. One star off for the server who was wearing a mask under his nose. What's the point? read more

First the bad. No liquor so can't have a margarita with your meal. Also, and it might just be with me... the gentleman who usually waits on me always seems to wish I wasn't there. Now the good. Everything! Probably the best Mexican food in town. The Carne Asada burrito is the best in town for sure. The salsas are excellent and the valor team offering is exceptional. Prices are good, portions are nice and every dish is delicious. Go! You won't be disappointed read more

Brand new place . Very friendly people. Extremely fast service. English isn't the best so they didn't get my order right. That's okay I picked the meat and cheese out and just ate that. Free hot chips and fresh salsa. Tiny meal portion. $20 something for 2 people. Cheap but not for the area. They need to drop price or raise portion. I left very hungry because they didn't get my order right and I don't eat the Shell or chips. I literally paid $13 for literally 6 bites of chicken and that's it. read more

Had a wonderful dinner that began with our very pleasant and attentive server. The chips were fresh and the salsa spicy. We both ordered fajitas--she had chicken and I steak. They were delicious and the accompanying plate of lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole was fresh and a nice portion. The rice was light, fluffy, and not overwhelming. The refried beans were perfect. The atmosphere was about what you'd expect and comforting that way. We felt welcome and wanted to express our gratitude. We hope to return some day. To me, this restaurant was fast, reasonably priced, and tasted great! I sat down for lunch, was greeted quickly, had complimentary chips, salsa, and a drink on my table almost as soon as I sat down, and waited only 5 minutes for my food to come out. I ordered something simple (Beef Taquitos) but they were fantastic. The cheese sauce on top was a nice touch and very flavorful. I enjoyed my experience at El Jarocho and will surely be back. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars was the atmosphere. The windows are BRIGHT, there was a TV playing on mute with Spanish music playing in the background, with just paper decorations and hand written signs on the walls and windows. Ambiance wasn't much to speak of but who cares really? The food and service were great. read more

The food was sufficient grub, but the experience was terrible, I doubt there are as many flies in Tijuana. I literally had to actively fight flies throughout the entire meal. Bastards dive bombed my plate several times. Landed all over me. It was so disconcerting that I was unable to really evaluate the food. Maybe it was an anomalous day for them.... But if you go in and see flies.... Get out! read more

Food is what you would expect from a typical Mexican restaurant. Service is terrible. When told they didn't have what we ordered we got attitude and an eye roll when asking for a menu.
