Absolutely terrible food, the vegetables were spoiled, the beans old unflavored the salsa was flavorless . The service was fine we got it to go but. The food made me sick and I could not go to work the food made me sick, I would be thrilled if I was overly dramatic. The ambiance is what boomers call a "Mexican Restaurant" the lack of soul, and community is absent.

We stopped by to grab a quick eat after a long hike and strolling around the town. You order at the counter and they bring your items to your table. Our server was quick and polite. Prices were reasonable considering the area $$$. Food was surprisingly good and fresh. My friend ordered an enchilada (really good) and I ordered the appetizers taquitos (plenty).

We were hungry looking for a bite to eat and came upon this place. Food: lacked flavor and underwhelming Mexican food I've ever had Service: it's an order, pay and then be served location. Ambiance: it's meh. Nothing crazy Expensive for what it is and wouldn't come back on my own choice.

Small vegan plate. Yes, small.

Being from NM you'd think I'd be critical of "Mexican" food elsewhere; especially in a resort town. Well . . . I am. And, at La Cocina de Luz I was skeptical. . . but my lunch was perfect. Small vegan plate. Not too small . . . I couldn't finish it all. Pintos were done just right. Rice was different, but very good. Love the guacamole. Etc. Could find absolutely nothing to complain about . . . even from the land of good New Mexican food. The service was friendly, fast and professional. Thank you La Cocina de Luz. I'm FULL!

The day's special.

Our first trip to Telluride and what a way to start. La Cocina de Luz is a must try if visiting Telluride. We were greeted by someone from their very friendly staff and were seated immediately. Free chips and two types of salsa were brought to the table. The salsa was fresh and delicious. My wife ordered quesadillas and they covered the entire plate. I ordered the special of the day which was a pan seared rainbow trout with quajillo peppers and garlic. Holy cow it was amazing. Everything tasted so fresh. If you see it offered you HAVE to get it. It was also nice to have several of the employees come by our table to see if we were enjoying our meal. We assumed it was the owner and the chef. 5*'s for La Cocina de Luz!

Quesadilla and Chips&Guac in the back

Came here on a weekend night and there was a short wait. There is seating in the back in addition to limited seating in the main dining area. The menu is average sized and has a good number of options. The horchata was grainy but flavorful. The chicken quesadilla was good with loads of meat. It was soft and juicy. However, the juices soak the bottom of the quesadilla which make it soggy. Overall, not a bad Mexican option here in town. Good to try if you're craving Mexican food.

The food and ambiance were great. You can serve yourself with chips and salsa. We had chicken tacos, beans and corn and all were delicious!

Telluride prices for flavorless tacos. Good to stop in when you don't have another choice and looking to get something quick.

The outdoor patio is pet-friendly, so we were able to enjoy breakfast outside with our dog, Luna. We both had breakfast sandwiches, and they were cooked perfectly. The English muffin was especially good and really made the sandwich. Since we placed a to-go order, we didn't have much interaction with the staff, but everything was ready on time and the overall experience was smooth. We'd definitely recommend it for a quick, delicious breakfast in Telluride.

It was pretty busy for a weekday around 10 a.m., and there seemed to be a constant line of people ordering. I got the breakfast bowl with eggs and summer vegetables, and unfortunately it was pretty disappointing. The veggies had almost no flavor, and there were pieces of asparagus that were so tough and woody I couldn't even chew them. The bowl was also supposed to have sunchokes, but I honestly didn't see or taste any. Overall, it was just very bland. I also ordered a flat white, which had way too much milk and didn't really taste like a flat white. The milk didn't seem properly steamed and it almost tasted like cold/warm milk had just been added to the espresso. The one thing I really enjoyed was the homemade pop tart. That was actually delicious and easily the best thing we had. Overall, I found it pretty pricey, although I know that's somewhat expected in Telluride. For the price, though, I was hoping for much better food and coffee. The pop tart was great, but unfortunately the rest of the breakfast was a miss for me.

The giant glass windows looking out at the yellow aspen trees covering the mountain was extra radiance for our parched souls. We are so grateful we came here and got such a warm and inviting welcome. Our welcome into Telluride was quite the opposite, and therefore the authentic gracious and warm welcome we got from the hostess Cristine and then our lovely waitress Judy who not only took our picture but took us outside to get one with the mountains behind us and then one with the incredible vaulted windows and restuarant behind us and then even again at our table with our exquisite food and wine. She was like being served by a ballerina, so graceful and charming. Michelin would have given these ladies and place an exceptional six stars! You needn't read on at this point, it might offend you or please you and perhaps explain my exuberance over the staff here. I think they were from Colombia but their English and mannerisms and warmth would make you believe they were Americans from the South, absent that beautiful Southern drawl. Their warmth and Columbian smiles will make you feel welcome, alive and dignified. My wife and I are part of the Shrinking Class, what use to be or might be the middle class. We stole our kids' inheritanc and bought a used 2008 Sprinter Roadtrek. We loved traveling through Durango, Silverton, Montrose and especially Uaray. We found free places to park overnight, some-places with incredible views. But then welcome to Telluride, not. Come visit, spend your money, but don't park anywhere we might see you is the town mantra. The song "Signs" from Five Star Electrical Band kept playing loudly in my head. We were told the parking lot that was dedicated for overnight parking was turned into expensive condos but never replaced. Everywhere signs of " No overnight parking, violators will be prosecuted" were posted. Even the one lot for the free gondola that allowed over night parking for $45 posted "no camping or sleeping in vehicles" and that "violators would be prosecuted." It was a disgusting feeling, to see so much natural beauty and to feel the excesses of the rich and over opulent protect it with no right other than to be "entitled" and able to take a slice of heaven so arrogantly and exclusively for themselves and kind. To them I give a one finger salute. I even had a person of color, not Black though, as I don't think I saw any, tell me he was sitting in his car texting when he was accosted by the police, demanding to know what he was doing and where he was staying, as a nosey dogooder had called in on him as a suspicious person of color. We too had people leering at us lest we try to park over night. Luckily after our dinner, Judy knowing we were looking for a place to park and stay, got her manager Sebastian to give us some ideas. I just found it remarkable that it was foreigners in our own country that made us feel so welcome here. Then after driving many miles out of town and getting lost, with some shockingly nice help from a very surprisingly helpful deputy Sheriff, Todd, we found a safe and free and legal place to camp overnight on NPS land with some other vagabonds.

It can definitely get busy, so depending on when you come, finding a seat might be a little challenging. I do appreciate that they're open until 5 p.m., especially since there aren't many other coffee shop options around. One afternoon it was raining, so we came here and hung out for a while, and it was the perfect cozy place to spend some time. We tried the breakfast burrito once, which was okay, but I enjoyed their coffee and pastries more. They actually have a pretty good pastry selection. I tried the pumpkin bread one day and a cinnamon roll another time, and both were good. The staff was also consistently friendly each time we visited. We started with the steamed mussels served in a heavenly coconut broth, along with the shrimp cocktail and squash blossoms. Every appetizer was outstanding, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The coconut broth with the mussels was especially memorable. It was so delicious that we wanted to savor every last drop. It was one of those meals where everything we ordered just kept getting better. For our entrées, I had the Skuna Bay Salmon and my boyfriend had the Colorado Rack of Lamb, and both were absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked beautifully and full of flavor. We genuinely enjoyed every bite. I had mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, and the restaurant went above and beyond by complimenting a flourless chocolate cake for his birthday. It was such a thoughtful gesture and the perfect way to end an already fantastic meal. And then there was our server, Marissa. She was absolutely lovely, warm, attentive, and genuinely wonderful throughout the entire evening. Our water glasses were never empty, and she even scraped the crumbs from our table. Those little details may seem insignificant, but they make such a difference when you're enjoying a special dinner. Marissa provided exactly the kind of thoughtful, polished service you hope for when dining at a nice restaurant. Our table was also lovely. We were seated with a view overlooking Colorado Avenue. It was late and quiet by the time we had dinner, but it was still a nice view and added to the charm of the evening. From the food and service to the thoughtful birthday gesture and our pleasant table location, everything about our evening at New Sheridan Chop House was exceptional. Without question, this was the best meal we had in Telluride.
