It's a tale as old as time: I order a burrito anywhere in the Midwest, and I receive a plate of rice and beans with a tortilla folded on top. La Charreada did one better and smothered it with red sauce. Ok, fine. I've come to terms that "burrito" means something different to Midwestern restaurants than it does to me and ... the rest of the country that isn't the Midwest? It's my bad for ordering a burrito, anyway. I should know better by now, right? What am I, a masochist? What really put our experience over the edge was when some woman, who worked here but wasn't our hostess or server or anyone we had interacted with previously, leaned over my husband's plate, stuck her face over it and SMELLED HIS FOOD! What in the? Why would anyone think it's a good idea to smell a stranger's anything, let alone the food they are eating. We were both in shock as she smelled and confirmed that it smelled good. Ok, thanks? Now can you get your face out of our food? So that was the probably the strangest part of the meal, and we just ate quickly so we could get the heck out of there. If you'd like to know, I got the enchiladas, and they were fine but room temperature. The random lady didn't smell my plate of food so I couldn't confirm with her about what it smelled like, but to me it smelled like Midwestern Mexican food, which it was. They give you unlimited chips and salsa though, which is nice, and we needed them because it took a long time for our food to get to our table. Atmosphere is modern and pleasant. A few others have commented about their salsa. It is indeed just about perfect and what you would expect. Chips were great as well. I got the Speedy Gonzalez special, with steak in the enchilada and chicken in the taco. Both were excellent. The service seemed like a team/coordinated effort between all of the staff. Everyone was cordial and helpful. Great overall experience. I am from out of town, but when I come to Marion, this is where I'll have lunch from now on. read more

The food is excellent and the salsa is some of the best I've ever had. If you are picky about salsa like I am, you probably know that some days your favorite Mexican restaurant's salsa is not your version of perfect. But when that salsa is on point. MMM! The staff here are always gracious and kind. Every once in awhile they blunder my order. And sometimes they are short staffed. But this has been one of my absolute favorite Mexican restaurants for years. The owner and his family will treat you like family. My favorite meals/appetizers here are as follows: Chicken Chimichanga (yes it's topped with white queso.. I hear they don't do that out west) the shredded chicken in this does have some slight cooked veggies... So if you're not a fan or allergic, know that anything here with shredded chicken is cooked with a blend of what I believe to be tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions cooked down to very soft small pieces. Meal comes with beans, rice, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream I also love the mushroom Quesadillas: they are big enough to share as an appetizer or eat for yourself as a small meal. They come loaded with seasoned buttery mushrooms and smothered in melted white cheese, grilled to perfection If you like variety and fajitas, my favorite is the Fajitas Chihuahua. They come with a mix of steak strips, chicken strips, bacon, and shrimp, classic fajita veggies (bell peppers and onions) and white queso drizzled on top. If you get the double order of this, they may serve you the queso on the side instead of on the meat and veggies (sometimes I ask to add mushrooms to this... Because life is too short) Pollo Tapatio is another favorite - chicken breast pounded flat and grilled, topped with bacon, mushrooms. It is also topped with white queso. (I sometimes ask for this with grilled bell peppers, onions, and chorizo added) Meal comes with beans, rice, lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream Enchiladas Yolanda's- If you're craving something extra cheesy! Cheese enchiladas over rice topped with pieces of seasoned grilled chicken and cheese queso ChoriPollo or classic Arroz Con Pollo ChoriPollo is chorizo (Mexican sausage) and chicken served with rice and white queso Arroz Con Pollo- chicken served with rice and white queso Dinner size chicken fajita salad is pretty scrumptious. The mini doesn't taste the same. Tossed salad here is a favorite for me because it comes with a slice of tomato, sometimes slices of fresh bell peppers and onions, and shredded cheese. Nice place to eat for Hispanic cuisine, but I feel it's a little pricy for what you get, although still affordable. Call-in orders are regularly not ready when they say they will be, so expect a 15 minute wait while they prepare it when you show up. That's why my 3 star review. Met family here recently and was pleasantly pleased! Atmosphere was really good overall. Could be better for more intimate conversations, but better than the norm for a Mexican establishments. Not a good experience. We went there last night for dinner. There were 6 of us. Our waitress was nice but seem shy and fragile. I'm guessing she was new on how she acted. We ordered our food, it took a good while maybe 30 minutes or so to get our food. Then it doesn't all come out together. Out of the 6 of us 4 of our food was wrong. My husband ordered the baked potato with only steak, chicken, bacon and butter. His came out with cheese. They had to take it back and redo it. Then they didn't bring butter either time, so had to wait for it. I ordered the skillet with the chicken breast, onions, peppers and tomatoes with no cheese sauce but asked for shredded cheese. Mine came out with no cheese, asked for the shredded cheese, I was brought cheese sauce, then finally I got shredded cheese. One of our friends got tacos and ask for them to be on corn tortilla and the waitress said they are on flour but I can have them put on corn (so we know she heard him) and he water sour cream and something else (can't remember what but it was missing). He asked and she said ok, brought the sour cream and never brought the other item. Then his wife ordered a skillet as well and asked if it came with beans the waitress said um I don't think so but you could tell she was uncertain. So our friend said if it doesn't I want to get a side of beans. Well her meals came with beans and they brought a side of beans as well which is not what she had said. Now during this whole ordeal, our food didn't come out all at once 4 of them did, one about 10 minutes later (that was the potato and it was wrong and had to be redone, so it was even longer). During this whole time we are communicating with the waitress and manager! Our other friends, her came out correct, YAY! one out of 6 was good! However, as you have followed I have only mentioned about 5 meals and there were 6 of us, WELL, that's because our other friend, the 6th person-he has still not received his food! We are all almost finished with ours and no food for him other than his beans and flour tortillas. We kept asking the waitress and she said its coming, I see it back there. Finally, I went up to get the manager and check on his food, He finally go his food after we all are done. His other stuff (beans and tortilla) are cold. They been sitting probably an hour so I asked if he could get fresh hot ones. Finally, we have all our food!! Now time for the bill, we are charged for the extra beans that we wasn't even suppose to get unless it didn't come with the meal. It was put on the wrong bill, which I understand that is easy to mess up. When we asked about it they took it off the wrong bill and put in one of the other ones. Granted they should have even been brought out and they were not eaten. Ok they were paid for anyway. During all this, they did apologize and say thanks for being patient. They didn't offer us anything for all the issues, no discount and not even on the meal that was so late in being received. At least they should have comp that meal. So this evening my 13 year old daughter accompanied my brother and nephew to a judo competition. We live in Dayton Ohio which is more than two hours away. My daughter realized that an hour after leaving the restaurant that she did not have her retainer. Any parents who has a child with braces, knows of this costly fear. Of course she also did not have her case. Ona long shot I called the restaurant. Juan the assistant manager asked the server who advises that she had not seen it. I accepted this but Juan asked for my number just in case it was found. A few minutes later he called back saying that he found it!!! He offered to mail it to us which is just awesome. He was very helpful and genuinely concerned. I appreciate his customer service to the max. My brother said that the food and service was also great, along with the prices.
