We LOVED our dining experience at La Cave du Fromager! The underground dining area was enchanting, the food delicious, and wine selection was extensive. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time as we were extremely lucky to have gotten a table as a walk-in. Lastly, this is a cash only establishment, so be sure to have cash on hand before dining!

Young people don't like grease. Eat greasy! - a sign at Cave du Fromager (rough translation) We couldn't leave France without trying fondue! And we're glad we did. Well ... not exactly fondue. Fondue is just the melted cheese. What we ordered was raclette, which is pretty much a charcuterie plate where you put the cheese slices on a stove, then eat it with cured meats, bread, potatoes, etc. We started off with an appetizer of croquettes filled with melted cheese and garnished with caramelized onions! If you know us, you know how much we love our caramelized onions - Jason especially! They were a bit on the filling side for an appetizer (especially with all the melted cheese), but nonetheless, we're glad we tried it! Like most greasy food, the first few bites were delicious! Mind blowing, even! The cheese flowed right from the stovetop to the meats, and we ate it when it was piping hot while blowing steam out of our mouths. There's a reason why the French are famous for cheese! I really wish I knew what type of cheese it was, but all I know is that it was the most ideal type for me - really not too strong (I don't like blue, goat, or sheep's cheese usually), and very very soft! However, like most greasy food, the pace of eating was really not sustainable. We got full real fast (hence the minus one star). It was a fantastic last meal in France, but I will warn that you will likely not be able to finish all of it unless you're really hungry! (in fact, the next table over, two people offered to give away the remainder of their meal - more than half! - because they were too full lol)

You'd never know this underground restaurant exists from the outside. Super cool cozy cave feel with walls lined with brick and wine. Like some of my other favorite restaurants we stumbled upon in nice there is no wine menu and you just tell the waiter what type of wine you want and they bring you a recommendation to try - it's great! The menu is very cheese heavy, with a few different forms of delicious cheeses. We got the baked Camembert which was similar to a baked Brie with potatoes to dip in and salad, as well as the tartiflette, which stole the show and was similar to a baked lasagna / scalloped potatoes with cream, cheese, and pork belly. Great service and a very fun vibe, would definitely recommend!

Wonderful and fun! We shared fondue and couldn't finish it between the two of us. Had lovely red wine the owner makes (perfect line on market there!). BRING CASH!! They don't except cards. We took a chance not making a reservation and waited outside as soon as they opened all the non reservation people filled it up. Moral of the story: make a reservation. Worth the stop!

Mmm, La Cave du Fromager was an absolutely delicious discovery nestled in the charm of Old Town. I had turned to Yelp for foodie recommendations knowing that I'd be heading to Nice for work and this was a 'must try.' I called after work one night hoping to secure a reservation for one and, I did! An hour later, I was seated and ready to enjoy my first glass of wine (btw, all glasses of wine are 7euros and paired nicely with your order). To start, I tried the caramelized foie gras from gers and sourdough brioche with Jame's chutney paired with a glass of Vinoceros Ombre du soir. The flavor paring was complex, interesting, unique and surprisingly delicious. I then opted for a main course of chicken Wellington with porcini mushrooms, truffle mash, beans from the countryside and jus, paired with a crisp white. Overall, the wine, the ambiance, the food was all delicious and delightful. I'm glad I dined here and discovered it on Yelp!

Fantastic! Tucked down one of the many interesting, maze-like alleyways in old town... dining here is a delight. The cave atmosphere is lovely, the service is super friendly, helpful and attentive and the food is nothing short of spectacular. I had the tartiflette and it was out of this world. Very rich but a reasonably sized portion. Incredible flavors. The home baked bread is also fantastic and my friend enjoyed the asparagus risotto as well. Our server was kind and funny and beyond helpful with her wine recommendation. She also pointed us in the direction of two other top notch dinner restaurants in the area which was much appreciated. I really can't say enough good things about our experience here. It was one of the most memorable meals of our trip to France. You really must make it a point to go, if you are in the area.

Awesome experience! Right in the middle of the old town and an awesome gem for food and wine lovers. More options than just that of course. The seating area is downstairs in a wine cellar, although it's more of a restaurant feel than a wine cellar feel. The service was amazing, best in all of France that we received for a non Michelin rated place. Our server told us about all the food and the sommellier gave us the exact wine we wanted. I asked for a red and funky and he brought us an Australian Cinsault! For food we ordered the cheese Fondant with vegetables, their sausage dish, their pork tartar, and their chicken. I highly recommend the chicken and the tartar. The fondant cheese was a little bit sour for our liking but they had other cheese options so maybe choose the three cheese bland instead. And there weren't too many vegetables with the cheese but their homemade sourdough bread made up for that. Honestly we cane because we read a review here that was one star rating and the guests judged it for their cheap tables, bad wine, and change in management. Well I thought that was a bad reason to give a bad review and I came here to give it a chance and Mathew and his crew gave me better than what I wanted and I left feeling like a made some new friends. Will recommend this place and will come back for sure.

Agree with one of the reviews... best meal I've had in France in 7 days!! Great atmosphere, the staff were great in explaining the food and very attentive. We had the charcuterie with meat and cheese, the beef stew and a few beers. Plenty of food for two. The beef just melted away and was wonderful!!

My boyfriend and I had a great time in the vintage cheese cave. We were greeted by a friendly and energetic French man and manager, Jean Michel and he found us a nice table in the corner of the wine cellar and served us the most amazing, "to die for" croquettes, charcuterie and fondue. At the end of dinner he gave us an herbal shot to help with digestion and we left with our bellies full. The staff is very hardworking and the food is excellent Mahalo from Hawaii, Jean Michel. I love the smoky quartz! Aloha
Gool meal in this quirky location. We enjoyed our meal at La Cave. Had been looking forward to it, and made a reservation in advance (likely necessary) to be sure. Our food was very good, excellent Fondue, but we did order too much. So, if you only want Fondue, order it for the number of people you are, and don't order anything else. If you would prefer to try Fondue, order it for 1 if you're 4 people, and then order other items on the menu. Other tip: order a plate of vegetables to go with the fondue. Adds some variety vs just bread. Also thought it odd that they would run out of white wine in a cheese restaurant. Their fixation with specific wineries goes a bit too far. read more

It was my turn to pick the restaurant for our group & yelp didn't let me down. After seeing this restaurant was #1 on yelp and wasn't crazy expensive we had to give it a try. We walked up without a reservation on a Wednesday night for a group of 5 thinking we might have to wait awhile but the host said we were lucky tonight and sat us right away! (Might have helped that we got there just after they opened.) If ambiance is tops at this place then the service and food can't be far behind! Our servers were so kind and friendly and willing to help us even though most of our group would fall into the "annoying American tourist" category. Everyone was happy to speak English with us and allowed us to make the fondue entree into an appetizer, and they recommended an amazing (& not expensive) wine that went perfectly with our food. We ordered the braised pig cheeks, risotto, and tartiflette among us & it was all the best food we'd eaten in France! Can't recommend this place enough. Top notch all the way around. read more

This is a must go location. Before I go on, I'd advise you make a reservation as you don't want to miss eating here. My wife and I ate the foie gras, lamb and the fondue as our meal and all of it was superb. Our server was very helpful and made us genuinely feel welcome for the duration of our meal. read more

This was one of the best nights in my life. The place is small but the atmosphere could not have been better. John Michael (? Spelling) is a wonderful host and made spectacular recommendations. Great food. Great ambiance. Great friends. It could not have been better. The appetizers were my favorite part of the meal. Honestly, some of the best food I have eaten. Take cash. If you like fish, cheese and wine - this is your place! My boyfriend and I went here, and we were definitely not disappointed! The waiters were super nice, professional and very helpful! The ambient is cozy and super authentic! The food is different, cheesy and heavy - but SO good! We had the 18months aged ham, fish soup and amber jack salad as starters - and ribeye and tomato mozzarella salad as mains. We were not able to finish even half of the mozzarella (250gr!!!!), although it was super delicious! Prices are good - we ended up paying 90€ total, which included water and wine.. I'll highly recommend this place! read more

A unique experience, eating good cheese and drinking good wine in an old town basement cave. Jean-Michel is personable and thoughtful with regard to his menu. A memorable time all around. read more

What a fantastic restaurant. The cave is over 100 years old and is inlaid with brick and adorned with wine bottles. The service was very classy and the charcuterie (the black truffle salami was bonkers) and fondue were exquisite. Our server recommended a fabulous Languedoc red to pair with the Comte fondue. It was so good, we had to bring a bottle home. Absolutely will be coming back--can't recommend this place enough! read more

Top top top marks to this establishment. This was our best experience in france in a 2 week span over many cities (Paris, Cannes, Nice, Gasse, Saint Tropez, Monaco, etc) Cleo our server was fanatic - we went with her wine recco which knocked the socks off us - a Bourgogne which paired perfectly with our mixed cheese board. Mains were outstanding. Can't recommend this place enough. The director - Jean Michael - brought us over for aperitifs of chartreuse which were great. Can't wait to come back. read more
I was really impressed by this quaint little place, you walk down the stairs to a cool cave like setting, the seating isn't the most comfortable their menu isnt the most expansive but they have wonderful food for a low cost along with helpful wine selection. I would recommend to anyone looking for a low cost date night in the heart of old nice. read more

Such a cool experience! The cheese cave is a must see in Nice! The cave itself is underground, which is a refreshing escape from the sun. The food was well-done, and the cheeses were very unique. I had the chef's selection of six cheeses, the escargot, and the beef stew and would highly recommend all three. I also tried a white wine that is made exclusively for the restaurant that paired well with everything, especially the cheeses. read more
So while I'm Nice we found this gem, underground cellar it was very cozy , probably best to make a reservation as it fills up fast, best Veal I've ever had everything was good even the simple dressed salad had so much flavor , the bread and cheese are fabulous! The only thing we weren't crazy about was the snails were used to the garlic and butter ones and these ones were in a stuffing just a different style . A must eat at restaurant!! read more
so caught off guard by the look feel and taste of this spot. You enter into a cave of fantastic smells and tastes. The menu is simple and you will want to order everything. The fondue for 2 is enough for 5!!! Loved this spot read more
Considering that Le Bistro du Fromager is one of the highest rated restaurants in Nice, I had very high expectations of this restaurants. I was a bit worried that we walked in on a busy Friday night without reservations, but fortunately they got us seated immediately. The restaurant is located inside the wine cellar and I loved the beautiful rustic decor. With the light, the setting looked perfect for a romantic dinner. I started my meal with a white wine, which I really loved. We skipped appetizers and went straight for the entrees. Looks like the menu changes every so often, if not everyday. So there's absolutely no doubt that the dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients. My husband wanted to order the Sirloin Steak, however the waitress said that the chef does only rare and that he wouldn't do a medium. Since she specifically mentioned it would be a bit bloody, my husband decided against it and ordered the Risotto instead. As for now, I ordered the Tartiflette, however they ran out of it, so I ended up ordering the Tagliatelle. The dishes were served in about 15 min with home-made bread on the side. Risotto - Was the better of both the dishes, but it certainly didn't blow my mind away Tagliatelle - Disappointing quite honestly. It was a bit too dry. I loved the cheese, but they were scare. There was no room in the stomach for any desserts. Although I really wanted to like this place, I just thought the food wasn't quite satisfying. read more
You know that TV Commercial where they ask why you're coming to California and some random person says "It's the Cheese!!" Yeah, well... California is a great place to live, but you don't know cheese until you've eaten it in France and there's probably no better place to eat large quantities of this delicacy than here, at Le Bistro du Fromager! Upstairs, you can purchase wine to accompany you during your cheese orgy. The restaurant itself is below ground in a cool and dark cavernous chamber where you will spend a couple of hours gorging on cheese. Appetizer, main course, or dessert. It's all about the cheese!! In Winter, I recommend ordering a tartiflette, a wonderful dish that'll get you ready to hibernate for a couple of months. I'll stop here but I cannot speak highly enough about this place! If you're in Nice you *have* to try this wonderful restaurant! read more
Ok so this place is a legitimate cave. A cheese cave. When you walk down into it you will most definitely smell feet, I mean cheese. But it is such a cool atmosphere with string lights, small rooms, and wine stored all around you. I don't even like cheese and I loved this place. We went here on our honeymoon and my husband got the fondue with beets and peaches and I ordered white fish with potatoes and salad. It was delicious and our waiter helped us pair it with a nice bottle of white wine. I wish I remembered what we actually drank and the exact names of our dishes, but it was so good! If you are in Nice, it's a must. Also, it is in an amazing lively area where there is generally live music at night and many wine bars. read more

Everyone's reviews are spot on! This place was absolutely exceptional!!! The staff was incredibly friendly, very experienced, helped us select a perfect wine to pair with the cheeses we ordered, and spoke just enough English. The atmosphere is very cool, quaint, warmly lit, and you feel just like you stumbled upon a real gem of a place. We didn't have a reservation and they smiled and took care of us within two minutes! Now, the food....or should I just say cheese. This place is all about the cheese just as other reviews suggested and every single item on the menu is 100% about the cheese. They change the menu on a daily basis so you'll always find something new. We enjoyed dishes with Brie and mushrooms that were to die for, another dish with cheese, apples, and onions, and a dessert with pairs, almonds, and the best whipped cream I've ever had. All paired with a PHENOMENAL blackberry wine from the south of France. I'll leave it at that. Go here. It's wonderful. read more
If you're in the mood for charcuterie, cheese and wine, this underground restaurant has got you covered. Tiny entrance way where you queue up to be led down to the cellar. Very interesting experience and decor. They forgo the wine menu on account of having 100's of bottles, per waitress. So just let them know if you prefer white, red or rose. Glass vs bottle. Ball park price. I went with a 10 euro glass of rose and was easily the best rose I ever had. Deep deep color, almost red and very full bodied. Asked for the name but I wasn't going to remember it. Foie gras for appetizer was the move. Cool foie gras with slices of parmigiano. Highly recommended. Ordered the cheese fondue set as main course. Comes with charcuterie, potatoes and melted cheese at 21euro per person. The cheese definitely had the blue cheese kinda funk. I tend to prefer stank cheeses so others may want to avoid this set if you're not into it. The potatoes were normal peeled whole potatoes. Oddly it works with the cheese fondue. As an added bonus it fills you up. The charcuterie consisted of ham, two kinds of prosciutto and salami. All consistently sliced. All flavorful yet not entirely a salt bomb like how some prosciutto can be. Comes sparsely garnished with pickles and pickled onions, could have been a bit more generous with those since it goes well with the meats. read more

This meal was FANTASTIC! From the moment you step through the door the fragrance of the foods (the bread!) and the staff pleasantly greets you and leads you down a windy staircase into a cosy cellar. The ambiance is perfectly charming. Get the tartiflette! (Oh my goodness get the tartiflette). The menu description does not do this dish justice. Listen to the recommendations of the staff, they did not lead us astray. We also had the pig cheek which was a melt-in-your-mouth delight, and the cheese plate which I loved but wouldn't get again ONLY because I was too full to enjoy the rest of the meal. We saw many tables enjoying the fondue which seemed like a safe choice but we were happy we chose to venture out and try something new. We were stuffed by the end and unable to have desert :( but we will go back another time to try again! Their young sommelier/wine-dude brought lovely pairing for our meal. (Edit: wine-man is apparently owner... Very cool guy) We were pleasantly surprised at the bill which was extremely reasonable; considering the experience and quality of the food I would have expected to pay more. read more

Don't be tricked by the reviews on here. The cheese was terrible and service was even worse, if you're not from the area I'd advise steering well clear. The waiters seemed to go out of their way to make us feel unwelcome and created a toxic atmosphere throughout our whole time there. read more

This was probably the best cave restaurant I tried. They had the most delicious dishes from french cuisine especially if you like creamy cheese. Although I am not a creamy cheese person, I tried cheesy tartiflette with pork belly and WOW. That was so awesome! Heavy for sure, but definitely it was worth it. Ps. This was probably the best restaurant I experienced in Nice, having gorgeous local food, cozy and fantastic environment and pleasant service. We found this place in Yelp, and it surprised us. We were addicted in the Sunset along the sea and forgot the time when we enjoyed the beautiful view. When we arrived at this restaurant it's an hour late. We apologized while the waiters found another table for us. The decoration of it is amazing,we sat downstairs just like in a real wine cellar.it smelt as a real cellar as well. The amazing part is its food, gorgeous local food. You can see the Chef making food at the door. We ordered snails and foie gras as starters, really tasty, and its sweet jam for the foie gras was amazing. The fork cheek and vegetarian food we ordered as main courses were yummy as well. Such a hidden gem. Loved the ambience and theme of this restaurant. It's literally a cave underground which is nice because it feels 15 degrees cooler than outside. We ordered the charcuterie to start with and I had a risotto with cuttlefish. Risotto is generally very heavy and I am usually not able to finish the entire dish. Amazing little restaurant! We loved the atmosphere of the cave-like basement. Fantastic service. Super nice English-speaking staff. And the food...amazing!!! All cheese all the time! We had the mushroom-stuffed brie as an appetizer, the tagliatelle pasta (fresh sage and Parmesan) and the tartiflette (made from potatoes, bacon, and so much more cheese!). And they have a nice selection of sulfite-free organic wines! So good! read more

Literally almost couldn't walk home. Fully of my own doing but this place is both amazing and dangerous... we had a phenomenal foie gras to start, and then a scalloped potato dish w/ jamon, and the unlimited cheese buffet (serve yourself from their fridge). Also some incredible wine recommended by their very attentive sommelier. Zero room for dessert. Actually negative room. The setting is amazing but the food and service matches it. read more

This restaurant changed owners recently and the positive reviews do not. necessarily reflect today. The "country" food is perfectly decent, but the wine offered at this restaurant is nothing short of horrific. The restaurant is casual and the small tables are made of Formica that resembles wood. The sommelier explained that all of their wine is "natural" and that we would be unfamiliar with the wineries, but all fine wine is "natural" and whatever is intended by this undefined reference to wine is completely unclear. What is completely evident is that the wine recommended was unsuitable to drink. The white wine bore an uncanny resemblance to apple cider vinegar mixed with water, but we were told it would "open up" and be best paired with cheese; fair enough, so we waited and, while the wine did not improve, the high acidic content did indeed cut the taste of the creamy cheese. However, I could have easily found a much better wine that would have accomplished the same task without burning the throat. We were assured the red wine, also the choice of the sommelier and the most expensive of the wines on their list (52 euros), would "open up" and it did not. The wine had no nose, no bouquet, no balance and was dreadful after a 45 minute decant. The sommelier was kind enough to apologize that we did not care for the wine and they did not charge us for it either; this was very nice of him and we were grateful. He recommended a second bottle of red wine and it was equally dreadful. He explained that it would "taste" better than it "smelled" and, we had high hopes as it smelled like sewer water; unfortunately, the taste of the wine was no better than the scent and we ended up drinking sparkling water for the evening. If you love cheese and fondue, but not wine, then this may we'll be the perfect dining experience for you. For us, it was a terrible disappointment. read more

Everything is so authentic and freshly made, of course, so delicious!! They have pork tartare which I didn't know, or else I would totally get it! Heard from the next table that that's their signature dish when I was paying the bill, uhhhh... :( next time! It's cool inside, but because it's a real cave, it felt wet and cold, make sure you have a jacket with you in case you don't like cold like me! read more

Great wine recommendations great food, awesome atmosphere. Super cool wine cellar and great fondue.
Overrated. And totally archaic that they don't take credit cards, although they did kindly advise us of this in advance so I could hit an ATM for some cash. This aside, a cool cellar setting. So steer clear if you want outside seating. The staff could do much better with their English. My wife ordered a vegetarian dish she was told was a grilled pear as the centerpiece, but instead received a grilled veggie dish with a large round of cheese as the feature. Not a huge deal, but we had a cheese board starter so it was completely redundant. And they gave us an old menu from which I got excited and ordered the daily special of a duck confit with a cherry sauce, only to learn it was no longer being offered as it was two days prior. Just sloppy execution. read more

The cheese was amazing but the owner is not welcoming and it seemed he doesn't like tourists. When we called to book he say he doesn't accept card payments (is this legal in France???) We asked if they had wifi because inside there is no connection and since he only gave us a menu in french we wanted to look up some dishes on google before ordering them and he replied to us to not stay on the phone and enjoy each other company!! Then when we asked for some advice he didn't help us, we asked also about the wine and he just said "I have this one" bringing a bottle, without telling us the price nor the wine properties (the place is supposed to have a large variety of wines). When we went to the cash register to pay, I don't remember the amount but it was something like XX5€, we gave him X10€ and we were expecting to receive 5€ back but instead, he started doing other things, blatantly to pass the time, we were 6 people waiting at the cash register wondering if he forgot or what, then we decided to leave without asking him back the 5€. At that moment he immediately noticed we were leaving and said "thank you" (for the tips). The point is, it should be us to decide whether to tip or not and how much. Not him. Also, he didn't give us a receipt! So he got all those money in black!! He should be reported to the authorities. It's a pity because the cheese and the food were amazing read more

We waited one hour till they opened because of their great reviews. We had to walk out because of their medieval payment method. This is what my wife and I experienced while visiting Nice France the first time in Jan 2018 (about a year and half ago of this post). As my wife and I both enjoy cheese. I thought a cheese themed restaurant with high ranks on yelp would be a good idea. Everything is good in the restaurant. About 10 mins after leaving restaurants, both my wife and I felt odd in our stomach. We rushed home; both of us had diarrhea. My wife was more serious and there was blood in the excrement. I wrote immediately on the yelp about the bad experience and minutes later received a call from the restaurant's owner. He threatened to sue us if I don't present evidence from doctor's diagnosis and said that the same food was served to restaurants' other guests and their staff as well so there should not be any problem. He did not think parts of the food can be contaminated. As a foreigner in France and my wife was extremely sick, I asked if he could introduce any doctor, he said I am on my own. It was late, it was weekend, and we were on vacation. I withdrew the comments and drove her to a local hospital for emergency treatment. We stayed there over night until the next day morning. She had medicines for a few days and was finally well. The owner's attitude is anything but considerate. From yelp's other comments, it indicates when we ate at the restaurant it just had a new owner for a year. Not sure if it still has the same owner since then. All in all, for a service business, the owner is threatening and utterly unpleasant. read more

History
Established in 1998.
This 17th-century wine cellar, hidden beneath the historic streets of Old Nice, has been a haven for cheese and wine lovers for over two decades. Originally transformed into a restaurant by a group of passionate epicureans, it became a beloved spot for those seeking an authentic taste of French gastronomy. In 2017, I took over this extraordinary place with one mission: to elevate the experience while honoring its roots. A lifelong food lover and wine enthusiast, I embraced the legacy of this unique cellar, refining its selection of exceptional cheeses, natural wines, and artisanal bread, all while preserving the warm, intimate atmosphere that has made it a must-visit destination. Today, La Cave du Fromager is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of French savoir-faire, where every dish and every bottle tells a story.
Meet the Business Owner: Mathieu B.
As the owner and sommelier of La Cave du Fromager, I do more than just curate an exceptional wine selection—I also create the dishes that define our restaurant. Each recipe is born from my passion for French gastronomy, crafted to highlight the richness of our carefully selected cheeses and seasonal ingredients. While I can’t be everywhere at once, I personally train my kitchen team to bring my vision to life, ensuring that every plate reflects the same level of quality and authenticity. From the cellar to the kitchen, I oversee every detail, blending tradition with creativity to offer an unforgettable dining experience.

We came for dinner as a group of eight, all food and wine lovers and all travellers from all around the world. We all came out feeling like we just had one of the best dinning experience ever! We got greeted by really friendly staffs, walking us down to the cave. At the bottom of the stairs you just realise you've entered a really unusual restaurant. This amazing venue carved into the rock is mind blowing. You are seating next to racks of wine bottles, bags of flours used to make their insane homemade bread (best bread I had in France. I asked them to buy some they said they are not making enough to sell it but kindly offered me a baguette at the end of dinner!) and of course the key element : a huge selection of cheeses waiting for you. When we looked at the menu we were all cheerful it was 8 of us so we got to order every starters! Everything single one of them were perfect! It only let me post 3 pictures from the starters but trust me everything was succulent! The foie gras is the best I ever had, the perfect egg and salmon raw brilliant and the raviole to die for. To drink with we got the sommelier recommendations that we gave freedom to pick for us. He started explaining to us in the most helpful and informative way what wine they are working with and why, what wine would go well with the food and why and then he proceeded to offer suggestions with the descriptions and prices, starting from the most expensive to more affordable ones. We thought that was a great approach because you can still pick the one you want based on your budget without having to price it up in advance. As for the main dishes, we all wanted to try the fondue. A few of us worked in Courchevel and all agreed this was the best we ever had. We also tried the Mont D'Or and we were not disappointed. The quality of the cheese and charcuterie are second to none. We also wanted to try the free range chicken supreme that was cooked to perfection and combined perfectly with the purple potatoes mash and asparagus. We managed to save a bit of room for dessert and shared the best lemon tart we ever had and an insanely good chocolate eclair, all home made. Even the coffee is good! If you ever had a coffee in France you know why I'm raving about it! I think I can speak for all of us when I say this was our best dining experience in Nice and we would recommend it to any one leaving there if visiting the area. Those guys are pros, friendly and super knowledgeable. Thank you read more

Wow !!! 5 Stars is not enough to describe the superb place that is la Cave du Fromager. The waiters are super cool and they all speak a very good english, witch is really helpfull when your french is as bad as mine... The old vintage Cave atmosphere is an unforgetable place i had dinner in my whole life. The products are fresh and seasonal. The quality of our food was excellent. We spoke with the Owner Matthew that explain us his philosophy about running a restaurant. He said you've the choice between doing things right or wrong, i choose the first option. Well done sir ! You're definitly doing thing more than right here. Congratulations to everyone. Oh! I nearly forgot to say that they have an amazing selection of 150 natural wines from all around the world! We had an amazing castle Le Puy from bordeaux. read more

This place was absolutely lovely! The sommelier was very knowledgeable and was able to help us pick out a great wine even though we spoke no French. The rest of the staff was smiling and very willing to help with any questions we had. We shared the fondue, a charcuterie board and a side of veggies amongst the four of us and it was more than enough! The fondue itself was phenomenal and I had a hard time stopping. The owner was there and checked on us to make sure everything was perfect and the chefs were nice enough to let my mother stand and watch them cook for a bit. All around, a great experience and I would recommend this place to everyone! read more

Delicious cheese based menu that changes daily. Very helpful waitstaff, very fresh food, house made bread that puts all others to shame because the owner bakes it at 6pm, so it is fresh out of the oven, not sitting since before lunch. Organic wine that the waitress suggested was a great pair with our meal. Very fun atmosphere in a wine cave under the city. read more
