As someone who is from Angleton, La Casona has been around my whole life and I've given it several tries and it's just overall overrated... I've gotten sick twice from the beef enchiladas so this past weekend I decided to try out the shrimp enchiladas. Fortunately I didn't get sick... but everything is so overpriced for the quality. The food is very mediocre, my father was very disappointed in his food. He had ordered Carne Guisada and it barely had any of the gravy sauce that "Carne Guisada" is supposed to have. It also had lots of tendons and pieces of fat. My brother ordered the shrimp quesadillas, they weren't anything special but were good. So many excellent Spanish influenced restaurants in Texas but this isn't one.. it's just "okay" but with pricey entrees for Tex-mex food that isn't spectacular. Tortillas are not good, tortillas from Taco Cabana taste better (that says a lot when compared to a fast food place) ! Service was alright and I give 2 stars for that read more

Once again had to stop by every time I visit family here..is super delicious....you cant go wrong the shrimp fajitas there are so good ...shrimps are huge...my two year old love the enchiladas ....and hubby like always with his fajita super tender and moist ..and for dessert there homemade flan...yum....ask for the green salsa super delicious.... read more

Disclaimer: I am giving 4-stars due to the fact this is located in Angleton with very few decent restaurants to choose from. In comparison to Houston Mexican food restaurants, the rating wouldn't be as high. When we drive into Angleton about once a month or so, this is the only restaurant we go to. The plates are hot, the margaritas keep coming, and the service is quick. This Mexican restaurant has a large selection of food items and margaritas with one of their more popular dishes being the crawfish. We have been going to La Casona for several years. No matter how busy they are we receive excellent service. The food is wonderful.

Well we usually eat at the next door neighbor restaurant for Mexican food. I can now say, we still will. Decided to try this place out w/hubby on a "rain out" day. 1st-off no agua horchata. 2nd - the "Super" fajita hubby ordered was definitely NOT! No flavor, had to ask for jalapeño & lime & add salt twice. It was also the most Non-Mexican looking fajitas I've ever seen with zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower & mushrooms ?!? 3rd-- My chicken flautas had no flavor, I could have just had avocado instead of guacamole for the lack of flavor. Now what I did like was the chorizo in the refried beans. That's my personal taste preference. Oh and the salsa for the chips was great!!! If they bottled that I would buy it. So I come in from out of town at the request for my in laws who i love and adore. This place has had it's ups and downs and tonight definitely it was a down moment. I am an absolute foodie and respect restaurant's ideas with cuisine, but fudging up fajitas on a parrillada is absolute nono for this Hispanic. I have had many parrilladas and this is no exception. I respect the fact that there is well seasoned meat, but when you serve for 4 and it is takeout...and when you open the containers it was mostly vegetables? Really? If I wanted Chinese I would have gone to a chinese Buffet. I mean broccoli and carrots in a parrillada is um well...a nono. Otherwise the food is decent but overpriced especially since they have a new place. Try Chilis. At least you get meat there!!! read more

This is probably my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant! The food here is AMAZING! The customer service is the beyond the BEST!! My family loves coming here for anything. Meh...We ate here while visiting a friend in Lake Jackson. La Casona falls into the standard Tex-Mex fare that just doesn't really have anything special about it. I got the Pollo Diablo, which is four pieces of chicken, Asadero cheese and a jalepeno wrapped in bacon. The chicken strips were TINY and each "wrap" was at least 75% cheese. Definitely not worth over $13, and not much more than an appetizer (it felt like they just added rice and beans to something off an appetizer menu). I would not get this again in the future. Awful experience at this restaurant. First off we did not get a waitress or waiter til after 35 min of being there. Plenty of staff that day and not too busy. There were roaches crawling on the wall near where we sit. It was not the outside raided that are huge but the small house roaches. It was just awful. Our food got there a hour after being there. We had three different people serving us and none of them knew what they were doing. Been going there a while but this experience will definitely keep me away. Been to La Casona about 8 times. I mostly order to go but have sat in the restaurant 2 times. When I eat in the service is good. The steak fajitas are very good. Chili con queso is unappealing because it is very thin and lacks flavor. To go orders are a hit and miss. I placed an enchilada order recently and they did not follow my instructions for my sides and the food was cold. I was there to pick up my order at exactly the time they said it would be read. I recently ordered 4 pounds of crayfish to go. The crayfish were either under cooked or they boiled frozen ones because the tail meat was very mushy. read more

I love eating at this place! The service is always amazing. The food comes hot and quickly. The margaritas are expensive if you order top shelf but are oh so good. When you mix have an awesome dinner with a beautiful date it is even better. This has to be one of my all time favorite restaurants ever. This location is well worth a drive to go to. You will not be disappointed. Camaron Machos is bacon wrapped shrimp that is very good and you won't walk away hungry. The Mexican Guacamole is the best ever. This place was awesome! Service may have been a little slow, but was fine for me on a relaxing Saturday night away from home. I requested a special plate due to my dietary restrictions (vegan), and they not only made it happen, but it was some of the best mexican food I've ever had. So my coworker and I were heading to our hotel when I noticed this couple heading to their room with to go boxes. I asked them what was the best place to eat in town and the man said La Casona was the best Mexican food he had EVER HAD... I was taken back this 50+ year old man is saying he just had the best in his life... So here we go.... This location is right off the main road Velasco. You notice they have two buildings apparently they were so popular the older building was to small. Walk inside to a typical Mexican restaurant atmosphere football (soccer) on nearly all the channels. We are greeted by a nice host. When our waiter gets to the table he is very professional. We both order margaritas 1800 with Grand Marnier on the rocks. I ordered the super combo which is 3 different shrimp cooked three different ways. These were the best shrimp I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. They were fresh, delicious and each shrimp had its own taste and texture. The rice was nothing special but the tortillas where on point. I didn't get beans. Overall great experience professional staff and decent presentation. What separates this place was the shrimp. A nearby business referred me to this place. She said it was excellent! Not very busy when I walked in on a Monday afternoon and was seated very quickly. Waitress was sweet. Chips and salsa were good! On scale of 1-10, salsa hotness a 7. Food arrived within 5-10 min of being seated. A slew of people came in shortly after I arrived, so I never saw my waitress again until I asked for the bill. However, food was good, flavors were authentic, and so was the music!! I think quality of food has gone down in the last year and I'm petty close to taking this restaurant out of my rotation. I'll use the Anaheim Chili Bacon Cheeseburger as an example. It used to be AMAZING-- as good or better than Grub, Hubcap, and other Houston burger specialists. Last night, the "meat" patty was for sure industrial frozen, grey, tasteless, spongy "burger" you'd get from the lunch line at a school. The chicken quesadillas have a few bits of chicken thrown in, but again, significantly less than months past. Service is always good and the people are friendly, but I think I'm done. Rarely do I do call in orders but when I do, it's to La Casona and something always gets messed up. Ordered 2 quesos and 4 salsas...drove home to find out I only got half my order. I call and tell them what happened and they put me on hold for like 10 minutes. Then said to come get it. So I drive 20 min back to get the other half of such a small order.
