We were down in Angleton last week for a funeral. My honey bunny grew up there but hadn't been back for quite a few years. Needless to say, Angleton was a whole lot different from when he grew up, which was the late 70s and early 80s! We had supper there on 10/19. Wow...there are no words to describe the awesomeness that was our food! My honey bunny and I both had the special of the day. It consisted of 1 yummy cheese enchilada, amazing rice, delicious fish, savory side of veggies, and 1 bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp!! OMG! Food of the Gods.....I had no idea that Angleton had such a spectacular Tex-Mex place. My kiddos had the cheese enchilada kids meals.....I have never seen my kids finish whats on their plate and I didn't have to repeatedly ask them to finish. These kids were the first ones done!! I miss you, La Casona :-( Wish you were closer to me. I need to mention that we went back a second (the next day) We all had the same thing.....OMG it was still awesome!! But this time around we had dessert. I had flan, honey bunny had a piece of tres leches pastel, and my kiddos shared a chocolate cheesecake slice! I could live there and not mind getting fat! If you haven't tried it....please go. You can always go down to Surfside Beach and swim some laps. I am a fan of La Casona! Yowza! She's a spicy one! I'm all about some pep in my step and my good! Spot on for a quick bite. Service was quick and the space was great. I got to have my elbow room to spread out and have a bite and strong drink. This was the place of choice and I was not disappointed. read more

Here is a menu hack. Order the street tacos but ask for "al pastor." Their al pastor tacos are some of the best I have had! I would upgrade your margarita as the house versions are not so great. Food and wait staff were excellent! read more

Great place, great food! Love everything we have tried. Waiters are really friendly and get you taken care of. You never have to wait on refills, chips or your check, which I appreciate. It gets busy! So we go after lunch on the weekends or before the dinner rush. There is additional parking next door when it's busy- it's a very short walk, nothing to fuss about. read more

This is my favorite Mexican food in town. Hands down best Salsa! My favorite dishes are the Chicken Enchiladas, Queso Parilla (Casserole dish full of Monterey Jack Cheese, w/choice of beef or chicken fajita. Served with flour Tortillas). It's really an appetizer, but I get it as a meal. Very yummy! The Chile Relleno stuffed w/cheese is yummy! Tortilla soup is the bomb! Lg comes side of rice and, oh, how I love their rice & retried beans! Service is always very good! You never have to wait long for your food & they keep your ice tea glass full! The only negative thing I can it is, occasionally, the sauce for the enchiladas or chile relleno tastes a little sour or spoiled. I guess because they make it in large batches & use the leftovers. May do this with the chicken, too. But when it's all fresh, it's the best! read more

This place has fantastic food AND fantastic service. We ate there today and the A/C return vent door dropped open, showering our food and drinks with dust. Immediately, several Servers were right there. Moving us to another table, fresh drinks, new silverware and they remade all of or food! They made sure we were ok and comfortable. La Casona is our go to place in the area for good Tex Mex food. As per usual Mexican restaurant rules, you are brought chips and salsa upon being seated. Only red salsa is brought out but you can ask for green salsa as well. Both are usually always delicious, though on occasion they will have an off day. If you are a fan of frozen margaritas, these are pretty good but a little on the sweeter side. I can usually only have 2 before my stomach tells me that I have had enough. I always get cheese enchiladas with double rice. I'm not really a fan of refried beans for the most part, so this isn't a jab at theirs. I know plenty of people who love them here. The bean soup however is absolutely delicious! Service is usually pretty good unless it's crawfish night. It's usually packed to full capacity on these nights and the service is shaky then. The only consistently negative thing I can comment on is the guacamole. It's decent but nothing about it stands above and beyond anywhere else. I have definitely had better. The price for the amount you get is absolutely ridiculous. I would skip out on it entirely if you are expecting the portion size that most other Mexican restaurants serve. You will be disappointed. If a side of it comes with your meal though, enjoy it without paying extra! read more

Went with a group of girlfriend's for a Going Away lunch for one of the girls that was moving. We had a great waiter who took our prolonged stay and laughter in stride. The chicken enchiladas were delicious and the kitchen got my substitutions right. A little on the noisy side but that was fine because we were a little noisy to. We drove to Angleton, TX 8/29. After our fabulous lunch at Luigi's, we stopped in to La Casona for a drink. Fabulous margaritas, and wonderful service. We were visiting people there, and this is also where they chose for dinner. It was great. We had a huge sampler appetizer. Wow! Everything on it was so great. Nachos, shrimp a couple of different ways, stuffed jalapeño, guac and sour cream. So tasty. My mother ordered the Vallarta, cheese and shrimp stuffed poblano. Three adults shared the super sampler app. and that Vallarta. The servings are so big, it was plenty. Others at our table had fajitas and quesadillas, all so good. The chips are good, the salsa, it's warm and thin, not much chunk to it. Others loved it. I like a chunky cold dip for my hot chip. Just me. A couple of us had a large house frozen and got our butts kicked. Others had margaritas on the rocks and said they weren't feeling the same. It was so flavorful. The service so good. On the third try we finally gave up on getting the right drinks (sweet and unsweet tea and water for 6). That's when the real fun began. The first bowl of salsa came complete with a foot - long black hair. After bringing this to the attention of the server, he apologized and brought us a fresh dip from the hairy salsa bucket. No thanks. He tried to make it right by bringing us some queso on the house. About three chips in, we found another long hair in the queso. After pointing this out to our server, he sent the manager back who insinuated that the hair was ours. Since the only person at the table with hair longer than than an inch is blonde we doubt it was ours. After a long wait everyone was pretty much over the experience. We asked for one check and to complete the experience we got separate checks. They did comp the hair-finder's meal and give the rest of us a discount. After checking their health inspection record, they only got an 81 on a recheck after a 76. Probably be a while before we go back. Used to love them but over the years quality has gone downhill. I recently ordered from the Lake Jackson location and was charged extra for a to go order. Last time I tried calling for a to go order the phone rang with no answer for over a minute. I did that about three times. Then me and my husband called again and got continuous busy signals.
