Food and service is absolutely amazing!!! We have lived here for 6 years and have never been until tonight! 10/10 recommended!!

La Casetta catered our Christmas Eve,Eve dinner for 14 family members on December 23, 2025. Everything was perfect! We ordered Lasagna, Salad, Dressing, Home made Bread, 2 Large pizza's, cannoli's and Iced Tea. All the food was hot and delicious and the sauce was wonderful! Definitely Italian authentic taste of Sicily, and was a big hit with our family of adults and children! Francisco, one of the owners, and his staff, Sheena and Steve were very helpful and professional! We look forward to having dinner at La Casetta again ,in the near future! Thank you! Pasta was drown in sauce, and the waiter asked me why I needed a spoon. A pasta dish should always come with a spoon. I couldn't find the meatballs because they were buried in the sauce. read more

Nice to find a restaurant that serves excellent classic Italian dishes. The pasta and sauces were excellent and nice proportions. Service was spot on, friendly and attentive. The man course and dessert were amazing. The calamari appetizer was not hot when it was brought to our table. I mentioned it to our waitress and she removed it from the bill. I think they may have been short staffed. I will go again. You can tell it's a local favorite!! read more

The food was at one time pretty good, but lately it's been disappointing. Alfredo was milky, not thick and creamy as it should be. The chicken piccata came out with rubbery chicken on a dry dish. No sauce to dip the chicken in. I mean bone dry. The spaghetti sauce tasted like chef boy-R-de sauce. Well over priced for the portions. Not worth it. read more

Delicious! Had the chicken piccata substituted the side pesto pasta for more piccata sauce. I initially thought the portion was small but could only eat half and took the other half home. My friend had the fettuccine Alfredo and enjoyed it. The side salad was fresh and the Italian dressing was very good as well as the bread that came out with the meal. Topped with a delicious glass of the Sauvignon blanc. Atmosphere, service and decor was nice. Can't wait to try the patio dining when it warms up. Will definitely return to try other dishes. Love having a local establishment with a family that knows Italian and really pours their heart and soul into every plate served. Unfortunately we did not experience this on December 28 when we made reservations for 6 people at 6 pm. We were seated promptly but from that point on it was disappointing. Drinks came out in spurts. Appetizer took about 30-minutes to arrive. Thankfully the meals did not immediately follow. But where was our dinner? About 50 minutes later dinner finally arrived - again in spurts. I think the restaurant may have been understaffed and still acclimating to an expansion they just finished. I guess we will let them work out the kinks and when we need a fix on Italian food, head to our other favorite place in MHC. read more

First time I've ever eaten there I heard it was pretty good I'm from New York so I went in and I had eggplant Parmesan with homemade fresh spaghetti horrible I don't know if the spaghetti was homemade it didn't look it it was yellow and not white and my eggplant was then and very very dark so it was not enjoyable out of the five star I give it a one read more

I've gone there many times and it's hit or miss. The reviewers on Yelp are a mix of good to bad or very bad. A lot of complaints about mediocre servers. The owner was at one time very much on top Of things but he's let important details slide and as a result there are a lot of bad reviews both here and in the local new Bern restaurant blog on FB. My all time favorite is Casa San Carlo in Morehead where the Italian owner does it right. La Casetta has the potential to be outstanding but as I say it's always a risk going there because you could end up just being terribly disappointed. read more

After one year of living in North Carolina, I am pleased to have accidentally found this authentic Italian restaurant in New Bern as I pass through to a work recruitment event. Upon doing some research, I learned this restaurant was established in 2001. Ever since the restaurant has been doing quite well with great reviews. The food was outstanding. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about each menu choice. After ordering our appetizer, Garlic Bread to go with our wine [I had Pinot Noir - Red Wine which was a great pairing with my entree]. As we waited for the Garlic Bread, another waitress brought out a warm loaf of delicious bread and a dish of dipping sauce made up of excellent olive oil, balsamic vinegar, oregano and parmesan. We ordered our entrees before starting to eat. I had the Chicken Parmigiana. It is served over Homemade Spaghetti and tomato sauce with mozzarella. As the entrees arrived, we soon realized that our eyes had overwhelmed our capacity. The portions were large. We had more food left than we ate [the garlic bread was delicious!] ... So, we ordered another loaf of the delightful bread to go with our leftovers. Our waitress also enclosed a container of dipping sauce and boxed and bagged all the leftovers. Everything was put into perfect carryout containers for reheating. I was very impressed with our first visit and look to repeated visits to this Italian restaurant. I am looking forward to trying the extensive expanded evening menu. The entrees include many personal Italian favourites. Our waitress, Rene is one of the perfect examples of what it takes to be a great waitress and one of the many reasons we want to return. The owner, Piero was wonderful as well. He came out to check on how the customers and ask how the food was. I appreciated seeing the owner being involved in his restaurant. Excellent Italian. I had the chicken parm which was pan fried, not deep fried. I make this distinction because imho deep fried usually comes out tasteless and dry, while pan fried is normally moist and tasty. We sat outside which is always an added bonus. We didn't have a reservation, and although they were busy they were able to accommodate us. Overall this is a solid choice for authentic Italian. read more

Recommend the homemade pasta dishes. Delicious fresh pasta - yes, they charge $3 extra for fresh pasta but so worth it. Tasty sauces and lots of options. Their homemade Italian dressing is excellent and fresh bread is served with your meal. Service was excellent with our waitress explaining dishes and making recommendations. read more

We have been to this restaurant several times and it continues to disappoint with barely warm food , portion size, and service. The last time which was the weekend before Christmas, a terrible toilet odor in the side room we were sitting in. Three times and I am out. We will never go back there again! This was so bad, drowned in bland sauce and yes there is p in there somewhere, the meatballs had a funny taste to them and the pasta was like it sat somewhere because it was pasty. This should have come with a.spoon and when I asked for 1 the waiter wanted to know what size spoon. Your an Italian resturant!! Both of our meals were fabulous (veal Marsala and Chicken Parm) and the marinara sauce was AMAZING! Staff is friendly and the family owned business makes you feel like guests in their own home! Today was our first wedding anniversary. We decided to try out a restaurant we hadn't tried before and chose La Casetta. The place is well appointed and we were greeted by smiles and a warm welcome. The service was timely and our orders arrived in good time. I ordered Eggplant Parmesan and my wife, Stromboli. My wife ordered a diet drink and I had water. My wife was happy with her meal with the exception of a cold tomato something dip. She said it tasted like canned tomato soup. Also, her empty glass of soda was never refilled. The Eggplant Parmesan was a disappointment as was the spaghetti. The sauce was similar to my wife's experience, it tasted like canned tomato soup. The spaghetti tasted bland and canned. Italian restaurants base their reputation on the quality of their sauce and this was a disappointment. We've dined at Paula's and our experience was excellent. Got take out since I was staying with aomeone in the hospital down the street. Had lasagna and garlic bread. They give option of lasagna regular or with homemade pasta (as they do with their other pasta dishes). Seems odd to me to offer it this way, but opted for the homemade version. It was a really good size portion and I thought it was good, but think the homemade pasta made it mushy. I will definitely order this again sometime but will opt for regular version. The garlic bread was good ciabatta bread just thought it definitely could use a big punch up on the garlic butter - didn't have any garlic or flavor like herbs, salt, anything and could do to be toasted more - again big portion. I wpuld give a 3 based on the food today, but giving a 4 because one of the better italian places i have eaten at in New Bern and eager to back and eat in or on their patio. Recently looked at reviews and this place and La Rosa were about even so we went to La Rosa and severely regretted it - worst atmosyand worst food I have ever had - inedible. Wednesday night dinner and it was okay, Their new restaurant and renovation has really added to ambience. Service not great but okay. Our server was rather slow on bringing us basics, bread, oil for dipping etc. Was piqued at fact that they nickel and dime you for "dipping" oil ( would they charge for pats of butter?) and it displays cheapness on part of restaurant- very tacky on part of restaurant- really? Phone orders have been messed up on several occasions. Instead of saying they don't have an item (fresh basil leaf) and substituting something else, (pesto) on pizza without saying so or substituting green pepper when out of roasted pepper another time. Not a complaint on the food but certainly not the only place in town for a pizza so might want to step it up. There is as good or better pizza in town. They offer a coupon but not a substitute for food you don't want. Check your carryout order carefully. Pasta dishes dining in have worked out. read more

Food is amazing. However we arrived at our reservation at 7 pm and didn't receive our meal until 845. They had overflow seating that they were not capable of handling the flow in a timely manner. Great Italian place that was very accommodating to our party which had gluten restrictions due to celiacs. They had both gluten free pastas and pizzas available. I got the vegetarian personal sized pizza whIch was 10 inches. The crust was thin and cooked so perfectly. The vegetables were fresh and there was extra cheese. The pizza was absolutely delicious, and the wait staff was very pleasant and attentive, constantly checking in to see if we needed anything else.
