I loved this place- some of the best Chilean food I had in Santiago. Our group was a group of 5, and we all loved what we ordered. The service t this restaurant was also excellent, especially considering that we had two people in our group in their 80s who have not kept up with new restaurant technology. I am referring to QR codes, which are omnipresent in Chile these days. It is difficult if not impossible to find restaurants that still have traditional menus, so we were thrilled that when we asked for one, they were able to bring us paper version of the menu.
Everything we ordered was excellent. My daughter had a perfectly cooked steak with French fries, and my pastel de choclo was top notch. The machas a la parmesana were also a big hit, and probably the best ones I had during my 3 week trip in Chile.
In terms of ambiance, La Casa Vieja also had a lot going in its favor. It has been there for decades yet they have managed to maintain it very well. The decor is traditional and rustic Chilean, but also elegant enough that it would be perfect for a date night or a business lunch. I cant say enough good things about this place. Do yourself a favor if you are new to Chile and wanting to have a wonderful dining experience to sample the regional delicacies of Chile. You won't regret it! read more
