This is one of those restaurants that you go for the interesting ambiance but you keep coming back for their great quality food. Despite living in Chile for almost 4 years, I came here for the first time 2 years ago and was kicking myself for not discovering this place sooner!
Located in the midst of street art, old homes and narrow streets Peluquería Francesa is a must when in Barrio Brasil.
For my birthday, my boyfriend said we were going to pick up something from his friends house and then we would go find some place to eat. As the taxi dropped us off a couple of streets over, I really had no idea where we were going not until we walked into the old building next to their famous barber shop (it is connected to the restaurant and has maintained its same decor and style from the early 1900's). I was amazed by the old photos, antiques and artwork that filled the room. As we walked up the narrow stairway to the second floor I was still confused about where we were.
The second floor, was even prettier than the first with its unique decor and old-fashion homey feel I felt like we had just time travelled into the early 1900's.

We ordered a bottle of Carmenere and some starters. Our favorite, hands down was the "trilogia de carpaccios" - delicious! I then ordered a fish dish was ok but what really blew me away was the side of cheesy-potato-goodness (sorry, I just had to go wipe the drool off my cheek).

They also offer a lunch, "once" and breakfast menu. For the sake of the Yelp community, I guess I will sacrifice myself and go try them and report back... read more
