    Quesbirria Tacos
    Gavin M.

When I say La Carreta has the best Quesabirria tacos I've ever had. The meat was tender and just melted away when you bit into the tacos. Now the Pescado Acapulco with the mashed potatoes was to die for. The scallops, shrimp, and mahi mahi were all cooked to perfection with a spinach wine sauce over a bed of potatoes. Definitely recommend try this place out because of the amazing food and amazing service they provided.

We don't normally go to "Mexican restaurants right next to hotels", but we were tired, and did so. Really liked it, enough to go again a few days later (we were in the nearby hotel for five nights). Good food, nice service, good beer. Most mexican-american restaurants don't manage that, but this one did.

I just love this place - has the staples but has different stuff as well. I tried something new tonight and had a little kick. This place has awesome table side guacamole as well. Service here is always awesome.

A nice Mexican restaurant with good food. They start you off with chips and salsa. We added a beer to our selection as the restaurant is across the street from our hotel. The we split a burrito. It was all good.

Nice little Mexican Restaurant located just across the parking lot from the Hampton Inn in Bermuda Run NC. There was plenty of choices on the menu and the Covid signs for social distancing and cleanliness were everywhere. The staff were accommodating and friendly though it was late when we arrived . One issue was I had trouble understanding what they were asking me due to the face masks. I already have hearing issues and add an accent and a face mask and there you go ...recipe for problems! We managed to get our order placed and food came quickly! The food was delicious and the price was really reasonable. I'd say you can bet we would be back should we be in the neighborhood again . Two thumbs way up!

We've been going to La Carreta for many years and have come to depend on the staff there. Many of them have been working there since they opened and although we like 2 or 3 TexMex restaurants in the area, we like to make sure we stop in here for good food regularly. Their salsa is always top notch and when there last week, the chips were served warm and were some of the best chips I've had in a while. The restaurant is always clean and knowing their servers, we know we will have a great meal with super service.

Elvis B served us. Monday evening dinner. For starters the restaurant is very clean, and beautiful. Very cozy. We were greeted quickly and seated. We got chips and salsa and he took our drink order. For dinner we had burritos, they were both HUGE, hot and fresh, tasted amazing. Elvis checked on us and made sure we had what we needed. Very Attentive. Prices are very reasonable. 32oz draft beer only $6.75?! Overall a great experience. Would recommend.

I lived in the area for YEARS and passed this restaurant countless times and never tried it out... But while in town for a short visit, my husband and I stayed in the Hampton Inn right next door to La Carreeta so of course we found this restaurant super convenient! We had a party of 9 (8 adults and 1 child) for dinner around 8pm on a Thursday night. The restaurant was dead! No wait! We had a wonderful table that accommodated our party. Our server was friendly. Food came out in stages. Some guests came out right away but my dinner came out 2nd to last and then my aunt's a few minutes later. Nonetheless, everyone enjoyed their meals. We mentioned how everyone at our table picked something different. The menu is EXTENSIVE. It was hard to choose! I went with grilled chicken tacos which came with 3 corn tortilla tacos with chicken and a side of Pico de gallo and cheese and a choice of rice or beans and (I went with rice). Flavor was great! Chips and salsa were good as well! Cost was pretty fair. Most dishes around $10pp. We'd definitely return!

Drinking a Modela Negra, one of my favorite Mexican beers.

Right across the street from the Hampton Inn in Bermuda Run, myself, daughter and granddaughter walked over for dinner 12/31. Of course free chips and salsa are brought before the meal and the salsa was very good, with just a touch of heat. I started off with a large Modela Negra, one of my favorite Mexican beers. Then proceeded with Carne Asada steak tacos served on corn tortillas, with pico de gallo and rice or beans. Daughter got chicken fajitas and she got enough to feed a small army so she had to get a to go box to take home the rest. Granddaughter got her favorite, a cheese quesadilla and they didn't scrimp on the cheese. Our server Miquel was good. We all left stuffed and happy. To me it was a little pricier than most other Mexican restaurants I have visited, but not so much It would keep me from coming back again.

The interior was decorated for Christmas, super cute, and we were greeted and seated instantly. Our waiter was friendly with a smile on his face and our chips, salsa, and drinks came out in record time. The salsa was great! It has just the tiniest bit of a kick to it and loads of cilantro which is a huge plus for me. They have a diverse menu and so many options sounded delicious so it was difficult to choose, but I went with a Tex-Mex Burrito with chicken. The food came out very fast. The burrito was smothered in queso which was another huge plus! Decent sized portions, the chicken and peppers and onions had an awesome flavor from their char marks. I loved the rice and beans. (Side note: I hate when places make you choose one or the other and was relieved to receive both!) There were two hot sauce options on the table and one of them might be a new favorite of mine. I do regret not trying the margarita on special for only $4! What a steal! For dinner, our two meals were $30 and we both took home leftovers. I will say, I am used to larger portions, but for the price it absolutely cannot be beat! Very satisfied with our visit here and I already can't wait to come back. Give it a try!

I visited Los Chortos in Advance around 1:30 PM, and the experience was very mixed. When we…read morearrived, there were only two people working and only about three customers seated, so the dining room was almost empty. Even with such a small crowd, the service moved extremely slowly, and food came out at very uneven times -- some of my party received their meals well before others, and one of my dishes was even incorrect before being corrected later. The sanitation rating posted was a 90, which made me a little cautious right from the start. The pricing also feels high for the quality and consistency of what was served. I began with the guacamole. The seasoning and flavor were actually quite good, but the execution missed the mark -- the avocado was noticeably firm and under-ripe, and the tomatoes were completely forgotten. Something as simple as guacamole should shine with freshness, and this one didn't. The enchilada had decent flavor, but it carried that slightly "held too long" taste -- not spoiled, just not as fresh or vibrant as it should be. I originally ordered three beef tacos, but chicken was brought out first. Once the correct beef tacos finally arrived, they were much better -- flavorful, fresh, and probably the strongest item I tried. The rice and the chips were also well-prepared and tasted fresh. The weakest dish by far was the taco salad/avocado salad. It was extremely watery, unpleasant in texture, and simply not enjoyable -- it felt like it was thrown together without proper preparation. Overall, I would give Los Chortos around three stars. There are flashes of good food here -- the beef tacos, rice, chips, and the seasoning of the guacamole were all positives -- but the inconsistency, slow service despite an almost empty dining room, order mistakes, and a few poorly executed dishes made the experience uneven. I've had good meals here before, so it's possible I just chose the wrong items this time. I'll come back again, but I'm hoping for a more consistent and polished experience next visit.

We looked at the menu board on the wall and everything looked great. My wife decided on the three sopas with asada. I chose the four taco plate with two pork tacos and two asada tacos, we also bought two bottled waters. The young man told us about the salsa bar as well which looked well stocked with a nice selection of salsas, radishes and pico. We had a seat at a table and the young man also brought us three bottles of sauce and explained there were two mild sauces and one hot. Shortly afterwards, he brought our meals. Everything looked fresh, delicious and yummy. My wife visited the salsa bar while I added some of the mild green sauce at the table to my tacos. We dug in and really enjoyed our meals.
