The Huevos Rancheros I was served
Fred B.

I came here today to try their Huevos Rancheros. Getting the order taken proved to be a bit of an ordeal - it took over 10 minutes to have my order taken, and I had a great deal of trouble understanding the gentleman who did take the order. The ordering system is flawed - there was just the 1 person taking orders and bringing the food and drink. This and a slow kitchen resulted is waits for everyone. It took well over 20 minutes to get my meal, but when it did arrive it was decently done, but like all versions I've tried, it was far from an authentic dish. The ranchero sauce was a deep red, a richer red color than I have seen before in this sauce. It was rather chunky and was really mild, I doubt there were any peppers ( most often jalapeños are used) in the sauce I was served. While the eggs were not overcooked ( both yolks were runny), the tortillas were separate and were not fried. And the refried beans were separate, as well! The only items that were combined were the eggs and the sauce. This was not a bad dish, but neither was it Huevos Rancheros. One of the key elements that makes the authentic version such a hardy classic is the combination of tastes and textures from the combination of ingredients. And one of those important items are the fried eggs with the yolks still runny - this adds a certain creaminess to the underlying sauce. I'll keep looking for an acceptable version of this dish.

Monte De Rey never disappoints. In my opinion it is the best Mexican restaurant in the Lewisville/Clemmons area. The food is always delicious and the service is great.

Chile Rellenos, Guacamole salad, rice & beans. Pacifico + Margs to wash it all down

Good ol' chips & salsa place that has never fallen short. Today was my go-to comfort food with Chile Rellenos, rice & beans, guacamole salad. After a long day of house renovating a margarita and a beer hit the spot. A little long from order to food delivery but it was Sunday and there were a few large families sitting in the middle of the restaurant and I understand the servers have to take care of the big tables first.

Great staff and excellent food! I have been to this particular branch of Mont de Rey restaurant multiple times and the food and staff are consistently on point in a relaxed manner. Expect big portions on most dishes at a reasonable price. The menu has many selections to choose from and lots of beverages for kids and adults to choose from. So feel free to stop in for a Bev and apps or a full dinner. I think you will walk away full and happy!

This was our first time but it won't be the last! Lunch was delicious! We were on the clock so I didn't get to try the margaritas Absolutely the best Mexican I've had in a very long time. Our server was nice & attentive as well...

Camarones Jalisco

We felt like trying a new Mexican restaurant in the Clemmons area. It was packed when we arrived, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The customer service was phenomenal and they were very attentive. The indoor decoration reminded me of places in Latin America because of the beautiful bright colors that identify the latino culture. The salsa was okay. I didn't taste much alcohol in the margarita, it tasted more like mango juice. I ordered the camarones Jalisco and I wasn't very impressed w the food. The side orders or beans and rice were generous.

Lunch fajitas Texanas. Really big lunch portion, plump shrimp, great flavor! Bueno!

Monte de Rey serves up some pretty tasty tex-mex standards at very affordable prices, and provides portions that definitely won't have you leaving hungry. What's not to like? On top of all of that, the restaurant is always clean and decorated with very vibrant colors, and sports an attentive staff that keeps your drinks full and the chip basket overflowing. I have been here about three times so far, and haven't deviated much from what I know to be good... the lunch size fajitas Texanas. You get enough for three tortillas worth of filling (but they only give you two, so be prepared for some chip scooping!) and the meat is grilled with a nice array of spices to the right doneness. On top of that, the Texanas style gives you about 5 to 6 medium size shrimp, which I have yet to be served overcooked in any way. At just a shade over eight bucks, its hard to argue with the value here. This place has become a lunchtime staple for me, and I don't anticipate that changing anytime soon. Come to one of their locations and give them a shot!

Fantastic experience! I have been seeking a new go-to Mexican restaurant since our favorite one…read moreclosed. This place checked all the boxes! The interior was decorated for Christmas, super cute, and we were greeted and seated instantly. Our waiter was friendly with a smile on his face and our chips, salsa, and drinks came out in record time. The salsa was great! It has just the tiniest bit of a kick to it and loads of cilantro which is a huge plus for me. They have a diverse menu and so many options sounded delicious so it was difficult to choose, but I went with a Tex-Mex Burrito with chicken. The food came out very fast. The burrito was smothered in queso which was another huge plus! Decent sized portions, the chicken and peppers and onions had an awesome flavor from their char marks. I loved the rice and beans. (Side note: I hate when places make you choose one or the other and was relieved to receive both!) There were two hot sauce options on the table and one of them might be a new favorite of mine. I do regret not trying the margarita on special for only $4! What a steal! For dinner, our two meals were $30 and we both took home leftovers. I will say, I am used to larger portions, but for the price it absolutely cannot be beat! Very satisfied with our visit here and I already can't wait to come back. Give it a try!

I visited Los Chortos in Advance around 1:30 PM, and the experience was very mixed. When we…read morearrived, there were only two people working and only about three customers seated, so the dining room was almost empty. Even with such a small crowd, the service moved extremely slowly, and food came out at very uneven times -- some of my party received their meals well before others, and one of my dishes was even incorrect before being corrected later. The sanitation rating posted was a 90, which made me a little cautious right from the start. The pricing also feels high for the quality and consistency of what was served. I began with the guacamole. The seasoning and flavor were actually quite good, but the execution missed the mark -- the avocado was noticeably firm and under-ripe, and the tomatoes were completely forgotten. Something as simple as guacamole should shine with freshness, and this one didn't. The enchilada had decent flavor, but it carried that slightly "held too long" taste -- not spoiled, just not as fresh or vibrant as it should be. I originally ordered three beef tacos, but chicken was brought out first. Once the correct beef tacos finally arrived, they were much better -- flavorful, fresh, and probably the strongest item I tried. The rice and the chips were also well-prepared and tasted fresh. The weakest dish by far was the taco salad/avocado salad. It was extremely watery, unpleasant in texture, and simply not enjoyable -- it felt like it was thrown together without proper preparation. Overall, I would give Los Chortos around three stars. There are flashes of good food here -- the beef tacos, rice, chips, and the seasoning of the guacamole were all positives -- but the inconsistency, slow service despite an almost empty dining room, order mistakes, and a few poorly executed dishes made the experience uneven. I've had good meals here before, so it's possible I just chose the wrong items this time. I'll come back again, but I'm hoping for a more consistent and polished experience next visit.

From the moment we sat down, the food just kept coming--and everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. We tried a variety of dishes including quesadillas, taquitos, tacos (steak, carnitas, and beef), a burrito we shared, and even a sizzling skillet that was SO good. You could tell the food wasn't just sitting--it was coming out fresh and made with care. The margaritas were definitely a highlight. They had a wide variety, and the drinks were flowing all night. I personally had a skinny margarita (recommended by our waitress), and it did not disappoint. One thing I really appreciated was them giving us a preview of their weekend brunch menu. They had pancakes, eggs, and even brunch-only refreshers for those who don't drink, which I thought was a nice touch and shows they're thinking about all types of guests. Beyond the food, it was nice hearing the story behind the restaurant and how the name Ma'Luz was inspired by family. You can tell they take pride in what they've built and their presence in the Triad. Overall, it was a great night with great food, strong drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely come back--especially to try more of the menu (and next time I'm getting a margarita flight because I missed out ).

We were both hungry and she said there is a Mexican place right here that gets really good reviews. I said, let's check it out. El Taquito sits on the roadside corner of a small strip mall which shares the parking lot with a larger restaurant and is right next to the auto repair shop. El Taquito is not very big. We looked at the menu board on the wall and everything looked great. My wife decided on the three sopas with asada. I chose the four taco plate with two pork tacos and two asada tacos, we also bought two bottled waters. The young man told us about the salsa bar as well which looked well stocked with a nice selection of salsas, radishes and pico. We had a seat at a table and the young man also brought us three bottles of sauce and explained there were two mild sauces and one hot. Shortly afterwards, he brought our meals. Everything looked fresh, delicious and yummy. My wife visited the salsa bar while I added some of the mild green sauce at the table to my tacos. We dug in and really enjoyed our meals. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is warm, and the energy is just good. You can tell immediately that a lot of heart, time, and pride went into creating this space. We originally planned on getting queso and chips, but the owner recommended the seafood dip instead... and I'm thankful we listened. It was creamy, rich, and loaded with seafood. So good that at times we were literally asking each other, "Wait... what seafood is this?" -- and we didn't care because every bite was amazing. Then came the Barco El Patrón seafood boat, and whew. That thing is no joke. The presentation alone is impressive, but the flavor and portion size took it to another level. This is absolutely a shareable dish -- enough food for multiple people -- and you can tell a lot of effort goes into making it just right. My birria taquitos were hands down the best birria I've had in North Carolina. Crispy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with care. Every bite was worth it. And let's talk about the drinks. I had a cocktail flight created by Erica, and every single one was delicious. Balanced, smooth, and full of flavor -- not overly strong, just made really well. Erica and her husband were kind, attentive, and genuinely thankful that we were there. They even refused our tips, which just shows the type of people they are. You can feel the love they have for their business and their customers. This is the kind of place you're happy to support. Amazing food, great drinks, beautiful atmosphere, and people who truly care.
