Monte De Rey never disappoints. In my opinion it is the best Mexican restaurant in the Lewisville/Clemmons area. The food is always delicious and the service is great.

We wanted to grab something to eat that was close and convenient. We had heard good things about Monte De Ray as well so off we went. We arrived about 3pm and it appeared busier than we would have expected. We were seated right away in a booth near the front, immediately provided menus and offered drinks. As we walked in, it appears they occupy three or more units with frontage in this strip mall because we saw at least two entrance doors not in use. We began to peruse the menu which is huge. We each looked for items we normally get at Mexican restaurants. We were provided chips and salsa and had to ask our server to give us more time to look at the menu. The salsa was not extremely chunky which is what I prefer and it had a very nice flavor. When our server returned, my wife chose the shrimp fajitas with a side of guacamole and I chose the Chili Colorado with double rice and no beans. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and looked great, the fajitas were sizzling and my wife thought the chunky guacamole looked great. We each enjoyed our meals but the service was just okay, it felt like we had to seek out our server. Overall it was a decent experience but nothing blew our socks off.

Good ol' chips & salsa place that has never fallen short. Today was my go-to comfort food with Chile Rellenos, rice & beans, guacamole salad. After a long day of house renovating a margarita and a beer hit the spot. A little long from order to food delivery but it was Sunday and there were a few large families sitting in the middle of the restaurant and I understand the servers have to take care of the big tables first.

Great staff and excellent food! I have been to this particular branch of Mont de Rey restaurant multiple times and the food and staff are consistently on point in a relaxed manner. Expect big portions on most dishes at a reasonable price. The menu has many selections to choose from and lots of beverages for kids and adults to choose from. So feel free to stop in for a Bev and apps or a full dinner. I think you will walk away full and happy!

This was our first time but it won't be the last! Lunch was delicious! We were on the clock so I didn't get to try the margaritas Absolutely the best Mexican I've had in a very long time. Our server was nice & attentive as well...

We felt like trying a new Mexican restaurant in the Clemmons area. It was packed when we arrived, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The customer service was phenomenal and they were very attentive. The indoor decoration reminded me of places in Latin America because of the beautiful bright colors that identify the latino culture. The salsa was okay. I didn't taste much alcohol in the margarita, it tasted more like mango juice. I ordered the camarones Jalisco and I wasn't very impressed w the food. The side orders or beans and rice were generous.

Lunch fajitas Texanas. Really big lunch portion, plump shrimp, great flavor! Bueno!

Monte de Rey serves up some pretty tasty tex-mex standards at very affordable prices, and provides portions that definitely won't have you leaving hungry. What's not to like? On top of all of that, the restaurant is always clean and decorated with very vibrant colors, and sports an attentive staff that keeps your drinks full and the chip basket overflowing. I have been here about three times so far, and haven't deviated much from what I know to be good... the lunch size fajitas Texanas. You get enough for three tortillas worth of filling (but they only give you two, so be prepared for some chip scooping!) and the meat is grilled with a nice array of spices to the right doneness. On top of that, the Texanas style gives you about 5 to 6 medium size shrimp, which I have yet to be served overcooked in any way. At just a shade over eight bucks, its hard to argue with the value here. This place has become a lunchtime staple for me, and I don't anticipate that changing anytime soon. Come to one of their locations and give them a shot!

We had the chance to visit Ma'Luz in Clemmons (formerly Mi Pueblo) for a content creators dinner,…read moreand overall it was a really great experience. From the moment we sat down, the food just kept coming--and everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. We tried a variety of dishes including quesadillas, taquitos, tacos (steak, carnitas, and beef), a burrito we shared, and even a sizzling skillet that was SO good. You could tell the food wasn't just sitting--it was coming out fresh and made with care. The margaritas were definitely a highlight. They had a wide variety, and the drinks were flowing all night. I personally had a skinny margarita (recommended by our waitress), and it did not disappoint. One thing I really appreciated was them giving us a preview of their weekend brunch menu. They had pancakes, eggs, and even brunch-only refreshers for those who don't drink, which I thought was a nice touch and shows they're thinking about all types of guests. Beyond the food, it was nice hearing the story behind the restaurant and how the name Ma'Luz was inspired by family. You can tell they take pride in what they've built and their presence in the Triad. Overall, it was a great night with great food, strong drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely come back--especially to try more of the menu (and next time I'm getting a margarita flight because I missed out ).

Dropping in recently, I didn't see many changes to the interior of the restaurant from its previous incarnation. The menu seemed a bit different, at least in design and layout, and I noticed at least a few options I didn't recall from the Mi Pueblo days. I picked once of those, pork in salsa verde. In the meantime I sipped on a simple margarita and ate a few chips. My time here was during dinner hours, and I was really surprised to see how few patrons were present. The waiter said that wasn't unusual for an evening early in the week, and that business was substantially heavier in the later half of the week. Throughout my time in the eatery, I'm certain there were more employees on site than there were diners. The kitchen was able to process my order very quickly, likely a result of the low patronage, and so I didn't get to eat many of those chips before my plate showed up. The chunks of pork were tender enough to pull apart with my fork, and the green sauce surrounding them had a pleasant flavor and the right amount of potency for me. I hardly had enough of the salsa to accompany the meat though; a less stingy portion would have been appreciated. Rice and beans were about what you'd find at any Mexican restaurant in our area. The guac salad seemed very light on guacamole though, and the lettuce shreds were pale white. The menu has mentioned there would be avocado slices on the plate too, but no avocado was provided aside from that found within the tiny blob of guacamole. I remember hearing that the transition to Ma'Luz was intended to represent an upscaling, a somewhat fancier option. My experience didn't really feel that way. The food wasn't bad, especially the meat and salsa verde, but this didn't come across as any more special or satisfying an experience as in visits past. And maybe that's why the traffic they're getting isn't all that hectic or busy.

Not only did I have the pleasure of trying this absolutely amazing dish, I had the pleasure of having leftovers. Let me tell y'all. This? This is food. This is where culture means Cajun. This is where innovation meets culinary. A quick run down of what we're looking at here. First, I have the seafood boat. A LITERAL boat topped with a fish as the sail. Ugly fish staring at me, but absolutely delicious. Crispy. Yummy. The boat had the BEST ceviche I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. Fresh, seafoody, and scrumptious. Pair this with crab, extremely crispy fried shrimp, oysters, more shrimp, and so many things I could write a post about just this item and still feel like it's not enough. Second, I have the House Sauce Seafood Boil. Now, this is just the prototype. They're also wanting to add sausage to this, make different types, as well as do a headless shrimp version. This was... What can I say? Delicious? Juicy? Scrumptious? What I do know to say is this: I'd buy it again. It was massive, it was filling, it was messy. Last and not least, we have the Super Fajitas. 4 kinds of meat, vegetables, tortillas. This is a meat lover's dream with sour cream. Delectable. Sizzling. Fresh. Mmm. Leftovers. The fancy drink? Locarita. Pink Flamingo or something like that. That was allllll my wife's and she savored every sip. There was more than enough food here. We ended up with enough leftovers to last us a year, I swear. Try it out. Let me know. Let's geek out about fresh food from a fantastic staff with the best food, and honestly, the best family environment. Bonus picture of my wife kissing the ugly fish. She's my better half and the more adventurous eater.

My ceviche was dry and lacked the freshness and flavor I was expecting from a Mexican mariscos restaurant. I probably should have trusted my first impression when I arrived not a single mexican in there because the overall experience just didn't live up to expectations. If you're looking for good Mexican seafood, I'd recommend going to Marlins instead. Giving this place 3 stars mainly because our waiter was excellent and genuinely made an effort to provide great service.
