History
Established in 1998.
Flamenco Fever is the non-profit that spawned from Alcantara Arts and Entertainment. It was founded with the principles of making ethnic entertainment accessible and diversifying DFW’s cultural landscape. Since 1998, the talent agency has specialized in a wide variety of ethnic entertainers. African, Fire, Salsa, Tango, Ballroom, belly dancers, circus acts, and Japanese Taiko Drummers are just a few examples of the eclectic roster of artists managed by Julia Alcantara until revisiting a flamenco focus in 2015. The organization received its IRS 501(c)(3) designation as Flamenco Fever in 2018 with the goal of building a sustainable flamenco community in Dallas through music, dance, singing classes, and dazzling performances.
Meet the Business Owner: Julia A.
Flamenco Fever (FF) has made the cathartic art of flamenco accessible to DFW by bringing premiere musicians and dancers to entertain and educate across a range of venues for decades. Now, in FF’s most important endeavor to date, La Cantera Arts Conservatory (LCAC), is carving out space to inspire the community with not only flamenco's mental, physical, and spiritual benefits, but in a wide range of activities that are attracting diverse participants beyond their niche.
