Group classes are held for the International Latin style dances, and individual programs (private lessons, dancesport preparation, wedding lessons) may be tailored for one's dance goals. I could not be happier with my experiences with and at GS Ballroom! The studio stands out for a number of notable reasons. The opulent decor, comfortable lounge and preparation areas, and the large dance floor are equal in magnitude and dignity to the dance and instructional talents of Shorena, Gocha, and all faculty members, all of whom showcase their extensive, internationally renowned and highly decorated careers in the global dancesport community. With their own roots and life-journeys in traditional dance schools and competitive ballroom dance, Shorena and Gocha have brought the elegance and fire of dancesport to Dallas, Texas. While a number of starts and stops have punctuated my own dance journey, I have been a competitive ballroom dancer for over two decades, and as a new-to-Dallas transplant, my heart and feet are perfectly elated to have found this high-carat gem, and certainly moreover to know both are where they belong, GS Ballroom.

With a year membership ($15 for students!!), you get free intermediate workshops (6-8pm) and a discounted entry to the social dance at 9pm. It's been totally worth it. The instructors are fabulous, and I've learned fun lindy moves. Each week there may be different instructors, and the month's dance for the workshop also changes (lindy, charleston, balboa). There's a beginner lesson at 8pm for anyone new to east coast swing so you're ready to go for the social dance at 9 ($7 for members, $10 for nonmembers). Everyone has been friendly here with wide range of ages from college students to the older population. They also have a live band once a month. :) They accept cash + card!

Every Saturday, the Dallas Swing Dance Society gets together at the Sammons Center for the Arts (http://www.yelp.com/biz/sammons-center-for-the-arts-dallas). Here's what their website says: All dances & workshops held the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Saturdays of the month. Mini-Workshops (for people that already know how to swing dance) 6:00pm-8:00pm $10 for members $15 for non-members Swing On A String Beginner Lesson 8:00-9:00pm (for people with no clue about what they are doing) Dance 9:00pm-midnight $5 for members $8 for non-members You really don't have to go with a partner for the dance lessons because they make you switch partners after every few minutes. But if you're a guy, you're going to have to do a lot of asking after the lessons are over. As a girl, the regulars were really nice about asking me to dance, but that's only based on one personal experience. The teachers were really patient. They really do assume that you know nothing about swing dancing, so come on out even if you've never done it before! Dress code is wear whatever you want (I'm being serious...you'll see a lot of diversity in clothing there), but try to wear shoes that are flat and can slide on wood floors. Girls, dancing in heels is not fun and all the regulars wear Keds anyways, so its socially acceptable to wear comfy shoes.
