This iconic Mexican Restaurant is located at 738 Rose Avenue in Venice since 1963 and tonight I attended a business mixer the back room with about 50 or so patrons. The drinks were great and the appetizers were plenty as the helpp is first rate and the overall experience is quite positive and fun! They have significant banquet capabilities and the menu is extensive to choose from. overall, the service was great drinks fabulous. They're margaritas are the best but I had a taco salad and it's the second time I've had it and it was the worst ever first of all. It's very tiny and they use shredded chicken, which is like dog food they need to use a full chicken breast and it's absolutely awful. There's no creativity. There's no flavor it's dry. It has no salt. There's no sautéed vegetables they need to upgrade. This salad comes from 1970. I really feel like they need some improvement, but my husband's burrito was fabulous. We were a group of seven. We went in to have cocktails and snacks around 10 PM. The place is very well kept inside. Our server was prompt and efficient. The margaritas are very expensive for the small size you get. A house margarita half the size of a water glass is $13. My guava margarita was delicious, and everyone seem to like their drinks but the Cadillac margaritas were $18. We ordered tableside guacamole, taquitos, Chile rejeno , enchilada, and jalapeño poppers. The food was good. I would definitely go there again but let me warn you seven people $300. read more

Mercy Lord! We came her to celebrate my father in laws birthday, Venice is his hometown and this restaurant has been a staple to the community. It's been around since the 1960's It was my first time and I wondered what was good? My husband said he used to come as a kid and he remembered they had homemade flour tortillas! I went for the carnitas plate and it was everything I wanted and more. Tender and savory with the right amount of salt. You get a flour tortilla and make yourself a taco with beans, carnitas some guacamole and pico de gallo. STOP!!!! Chefs kiss. I want to go back just thinking about it. My husband got the quesadilla with chorizo and papas and he really enjoyed that served with beans de la olla. I need to go back. Services was good. Ambiance was quaint and comfortable. Low light cabana type. I didn't go look at the patio. Parking is horrible, most people park in the Ralph's parking lot and just cross the street. read more

The food is good, the servings are big, the prices are fair and the service is great. I like El Verde, a huge burrito stuffed with chicken, pork or beef, and smothered with a tasty green chili sauce and served on a bed of rice and refried beans. I also like the guacamole, which is fresh and can be ordered mild or spicy. I wash it all down with a spicy michelada made with Modelo beer. We love this place! The staff is the reason we always come back. Yes, the food is good, but the La Cabana team goes above and beyond to take the best care of us. We have been going there for 15 years and it's almost entirely the same guys. They take pride in their work and it shows. Don't get wild with your order here. Host, Juan seated us quickly. The booths here are always nice , roomy. Juan took a drink order ( and apparently made them himself). Wife enjoyed the skinny marg and I started with a Cadillac. no gran mar on the side , but i could taste the float. small drinks, $18 welcome to 2025. Love the chips n salsa here. Someone nearby ordered table side guacamole so we did too. Excellent plus more chips yeah. I ordered a grande marg next and it was more my size and value $22. Food wise wife ordered an enchilada alla cart. I went for 3 taco combo 2 chicken, one beef. Food was on point, hot fresh and delicious. Cleaned my plate, rice and beans with more chips, I told ya. This place usually is very nice. The outdoor patio is where to be weather permitting. Came here yesterday and ordered some al a carte enchiladas because I wasn't that hungry. I got the full plate instead that was $23, when it should've just been $14. This is probably because another person that came with us ordered 2 enchiladas with "rice and beans" so I'm guessing they assumed I wanted the same. I didn't eat the refried beans or rice so more or less a waste of money. $7 for rice and refried beans is overpriced anyway. The food was ok, but could've used more flavor. read more

I accidently removed my most recent review--brain dead me. La Cabana is a local place in Venice, but they love to see tourists. The staff is super kind and the place is spotless. Parking is on the street or their lot. It is not a problem. The prices are super fair. They have full bar and make great margaritas. All of their food is great. We love their rice and beans and all of their soups are great. My grandson loves their burritos and their chicken tacos. I always order an enchilada. The best thing about La Cabana, besides the great service, are their home made tortillas. They are served hot and right off the loving hands of the person who made them. They are the best tortillas ever. You have to have them and put some butter on them. You will be in heaven. read more

I come here at least once every 2.5 weeks. My wife assumes I want to go here every time we go out to eat, which sometimes frustrates her! The food, service, ambiance, and decor are all excellent at La Cabana. The servers are friendly and personable but also professional! I usually have "The Original Margarita" (20 oz / about the size of your head) with Plato de Barbecoa and hand made corn tortillas, which is a real treat for me since LA Mexican food is way better than NYC Mexican food (I was born and raised in nyc) . I ordered the asada burrito the last time I was there and the meat wasn't very flavorful. I'm still giving it 5 stars because the service is really good and the margaritas are delicious. Excellent margaritas and guac, that's probably about it - sad to say because I had had much better food here pre-Covid. fish taco - 2 small pieces of deep-fried, thickly battered fish, no bueno steak taco - bueno, but missing cilantro and more onion carne asada taco - pork looks all clumped together, not pulled. pork tamale - again, where's the 'pulled' pork? shrimp mango ceviche - pretty decent. chips and salsa - no bueno at all, there's no fresh tomato in the salsa, just red sauce. and the chips are cold and taste like Costco. chile relleno - tastes good, but the sauce looks weird. We've been ordering from La Cabana for a long time now. Tonight we were so disappointed in 2 dishes that were total uneatable and simply put, trash. So frustrating and upsetting. We waited an hr for our food to be delivered. Not a problem at all. It's Saturday night. But not separating the cold sides from the hot fried food is upsetting. Don't get me wrong, this place has been delicious every time but having to toss two dishes isn't ok. This isn't the only restaurant who doesn't separate their cold sides from hot food but we've been doing nothing but delivery for a yr now. Let's get this fixed please. read more
