Breakfast Taco Salad
Steven W.

Still five stars. Still good food. Still friendly service. I recently discovered the breakfast taco salad. It's a taco salad with eggs on top. It's not on the menu, but if you ask nicely, they'll probably make you one. They have a small patio with two tables - it's a great spot to watch all the Venice excitement. I prefer the patio to the tables on the sidewalk.

This is my go to place when I'm near the pier and riding. The food is always decent. It's not the best. It's not the worst but it's consistent and I like it ! It's a very diverse man and they also have tacos too. If you're in the area, give it a try because the price is reasonable and the food is good!

This was my first time at this location. I ordered the #3. 2 cheese enchiladas with a beef taco and a side sope. First of all the cheese was NOT melted inside the enchilda, then the taco had NO and I mean NO flavor. Moving on to the sope. I went to pick it up and it was stuck to the plate with beans on the bottom also NO flaver as well. I'm sorry when do you put beans in the bottome of a sope??????? The WORST place to eat. Do not heat here. Save your money. Also got a Quesadilla same cheese not melted

Awesome taco Tuesday special. You can get between asada, chicken or pork for only $1.50 per taco. I got both assda and pork which was excellent.

Carnitas El Tarasco Burrito Mojado style.

I've been going to different El Tarasco locations over the last 30 years. The portions are always large and they have consistently served good food. They aren't fancy by any means but they are clean and the service is good. I usually have a favorite meal but today I thought I'd get something different. I saw the El Tarasco Burrito hiding at the bottom of the menu. I always get my burritos mojado style and I love carnitas but have never tried them here so I gave it a shot. You always get a basket with salsa and whole fried corn tortillas that you break up. But I suppose you could leave them whole and make a mini tostada. As usual the plate comes out as hot as the surface of the sun so be careful if you touch it. The carnitas were cooked perfectly. They had a nice browning that many places don't do. WOW! Was this delicious. The other burritos have a lot of different ingredients that complement but compete with each other. This however was simple. Onions, cilantro and salsa verde. It allowed the carnitas to really shine. Tender but crispy at the same time. Getting the wet version adds red enchilada sauce and melted cheese on top. It's now my favorite dish here. If you're going to treat yourself to some calories you won't have many regrets afterwards I promise. The only drawback to this location is parking. Thus the four stars. They have a tiny lot in the alley but it's full on the weekends.

A HIDDEN GEM OF AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD! This is the real deal folks. Savory, home cooked choices. A local haunt with lots of character. Nice service, attentive and no nonsense. Reasonable, fresh ingredients and amazing marisco/seafood. You will leave satisfied and full. When in the area, I will be certain to make it a stop!

El Tarasco is one of my wife's favs for good Mexican food. She loves the carnitas plate. We stopped by for lunch/dinner so being a fan of caldo, I went with the Caldo de Carmona (Shrimp soup). It was outstanding and full of a mixture of whole shrimp as well as without the head. A very tasty dish. The margarita added a nice touch and for $8.50 who can complain? El Tarasco does have limited parking, entering in the alley just to the east of the restaurant. Also, their chips and salsa are very good but instead of chips they feature a whole crispy tortilla (similar to a tostada shell). Prices are reasonable and service is very prompt.

El Tarasco is one of my neighborhood favorites! I've been coming here for years. Sometimes I just simply crave it. Taco Salad: Love it! Incredibly flavorful, as well as colorful! Love the guacamole & sour cream, yum! Plus, an edible bowl, perfect! I order it minus the meat. It's a whole meal in itself. Favorites: Cheese Enchiladas are cheesy deliciousness, alongside beans and rice. Taco Salad, yum. Bean & cheese burritos... I usually add salsa. Customer Service: Super Friendly & upbeat! Sometimes when I walk by on my way to the post office or to walk throughout the Venice Canals, we wave at each other and/or say hello! Dining Options: Tables out front; scene can get quite busy, because they're on the sidewalk, which leads to the beach! Plenty of indoor & bar seating. My favorite outdoor spot w/tables is hidden away on the side, which still allows you to people watch & enjoy the plants, as well as string lights! I usually call in my order to go!

I'm still exploring the neighborhood bit by bit. And this is the latest coolest place I've been to somewhere btn covid scares and being safe. It's out of doors which always soothes my soul in these uncertain of times. It's a block form the sea in Venice beach and a few blocks from home. They have all sorts of combos and the food was delicious. Not greasy, or unhealthy, just yummy and vegetarian Mexican options. It was exactly what my heart desired. A chill outdoor space by the sea, unassuming, with yummy food. It's all a girl can ask for. Oh and good company. Note: you can order breakfast for dinner! The service was delightful and every need promptly addressed, thank you. Not sure how the parking goes, as we walked over. But hey if you're in Venice beach, you know parking is it's own beast. Anything walking distance is currently on my menu. So if ya feel a lil chill, a lil seaside, a lil California Mexican. This is it kids. Eat yr hearts out. And then walk it off by the sea. Maybe don't eat too many beans. Hahah. You're welcome.

Crazy rip off and not good . 6.50 for this tiny 2oz of guacamole. The burrito was whatever as well

Not fancy. Just honest Mexican food. I think their carnitas are great and they have wonderful homemade flour tortillas.

The vibe is casual and beach chic. All of the food is delicious and this is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The restaurant has very few parking spaces on site. The only downside is that the paid parking is ridiculously expensive. Anywhere from $10 to 15 minutes to an hour, $20 for two hours and the price goes up and up. There is one hour metered parking nearby which isn't very convenient if you have to keep going back to refill the meter. If you're lucky you might find distant street parking that is unpaid. This is nothing against the restaurant, but as Venice as a city in general. High prices like these without any special validation, are sure to keep people from coming to these places at all if you can't afford it. Perhaps that's how Venice would like to keep it. Only people who can afford the parking are allowed to enjoy these businesses.

The ambiance was very chill California energy (I'm from New York lol), which I loved. The decor also was giving spa vibes in a good way. Byredo hand soap in the restroom, okayyyy! My server Joshua was super friendly and attentive, appreciated his good energy. Breakfast menu had a lot of delicious sounding options but I went for the breakfast burrito with hot sauce and it was fantastic. Breakfast burritos are very hit or miss IMO and this was a hit. I also had two cappuccinos bc I am a caffeine fiend and also jet lagged and they were both very good. Highly recommend to anyone in the neighborhood. I just realized they have other locations throughout LA too which I'm sure are also good but this one did not disappoint at all.

Ask the servers - they are super nice and happy to explain things. I've been to the Butcher's Daughter a couple of times for breakfast and I personally love the breakfast burrito, and the shakshuka. But their lunch menu is quite solid as well. I brought my husband here for brunch one day, and got a spicy Italian pizza. Of course the impossible sausage is not 100% accurate, but it's still quite good, and satisfying. Overall, "great pizza" - from a non-vegetarian. Don't forget to try their seasonal drinks... The rose-cardamom latte was incredible!

I ordered the huevos rancheros and they asked me if sunny side up eggs were ok and I requested over easy if possible. They served sunny side up eggs to me (not a big problem, but why even ask?) I also don't like that they serve hot lattes in those plastic water cups (first of all, that looks cheap like did you run out of mugs? Second of all that means these cups are too hot to hold for a couple minutes!) When I visited the WeHo location, I remember liking my latte (that was served in a mug), so I was pretty disappointed. Also just anything hot in a plastic container makes me feel weird consuming. Also justice for those sitting on those tiny stools, because not only are they tiny, but you're in the busy aisle so people are always bumping in to you! Wish I had a chair with a back. One good thing was that this place doesn't rush you when you're seated and finished eating, which I really appreciate! They let us sit and yap for awhile when lots of other places try to get more tables open. Overall, it's a cute place, but I'm never excited to go when this restaurant is chosen lol.

Call ahead for patio reservations!…read more This place is really pretty! Lovely decor, comfortable seats and an amazing view of the beach! We didn't know we would need reservations for the patio so we had to sit inside.. it was still lovely. My friend and I both got the chorizo breakfast burrito. It did NOT come with the pickled onions which we didn't realize until after we left.... The potato's were tater tots which was disappointing. I dont think any one expects tater tots in their burrito when it says "potato's." It was still good. Te salsa was a little spicy but I loved it. Side of avocado was 1/4 of an avocado. Huge burrito with tiny amount of avocado.. Friend got a mimosa and I got a French 75. Yummy Service was ok. They were busy so we didn't see our server much. We will definitely come back for the view alone even just for drinks. Lovely place.

(1) SURF CLAM CEVICHE #1- the acidity and creaminess and sweetness with very fresh seafood was so high quality. Plantains had a perfect amount of salt and crunch. The thinly sliced red onion was also perfect. It was very flavorful and probably better than Holbox-- if you have been. 10/10 (2) TUNA CARPACCIO YUCA TOSTADA #2- this was the best bite overall, it is definitely small and you finish fast but the flavors were just outstanding. The tuna itself was so fresh and it had a nice acidic flavor with the perfectly crunchy tostada!! 10/10 (3) KANPACHI CEVICHE #3 - a coconut predominant flavor with a mild acidity to it. It also pairs with plantains and they were fresh and perfectly crunchy. Was weary about the corn at first but honestly couldn't taste it and it was so good! (4) AFRO-CARIBBEAN SHRIMP DUMPLINGS #4- my bf loves shrimp and said this was very tasty. I'm not the biggest fan of shrimp but thought it was very creamy, fresh, had the classic shrimpy sweetness and a coconut creamy sauce to pair with it that when used on the rice tastes like a sweet milk rice. These were cooked perfectly. (5) fried chicken #5 - solid fried chicken and good crunch to it with the chicken being very well cooked but I cant say I was blown away by it, it has good flavor when dipped in the sauce which has a nice smokiness and acidity to it that makes it really tasty. However if I came again, I probably wouldn't order again. Lastly we ordered the toffee dessert which was classic and yummy. Nice shareable size. Overall, would return 100% and bring friends from out of town. Terrific flavors and service and definitely a top LA restaurant.

Corn added some great texture to the dish and could have eaten three of these Baked oysters - Perfectly cooked and so tender with a fun presentation Shrimp dumplings - Great dish but not as great as the other items as the sauce was better than the shrimp Was recommended to get the coconut rice as a side and you need to do the same as it's really good Main issue is the dishes are small (welcome to modern day tapas) and we left a bit hungry.
