Cinco De Mayo at La Burrita did not disappoint. We entered the building sad and left with not only ear to ear smiles but balloons, beads, and sombreros. The margaritas they were mixing up were unbeatable and the food was divine. The waiter had some great jokes and even pointed out the salsa that I had dripped down my sweatshirt. What a helpful fella. Stopped here off of I5. We just wanted to eat in a restaurant where we could watch the stuff in the bed of the truck. That's how we picked this restaurant. Previous Yelpers had left mediocre reviews, but it looked OK and it had an empty booth with a view of the truck. The decor was not ostentatious, but very authentic. The waiter was very personable and friendly. It is a local, family owned restaurant that has been in Grant's Pass for many years. The food we had was outstanding, the service was excellent, and the prices were quite reasonable. We drive between CA and WA regularly. We will be back! If you do go there and agree with me, consider writing a review. Definitely deserves a better rating IMHO. read more

Terrible! Very disappointed. I had a simple order, a cheese enchilada and a side of Spanish rice with melted cheese. The rice was presented in a cute little side dish, but with no cheese. I asked the waitress about the cheese, she promptly took it, and brought it back with a cold handful of cheese thrown on top of it. Not melted. Ewww... never been given anything like that new Mexican restaurant before...cold hard cheese not melted, OK whatever. The cheese enchiladas was decent, nothing spectacular. When I paid my bill, I was shorted $.80 change. I know that's not a lot... But seriously? Shorted change? Never had that happen before at a restaurant. I have eaten at probably five other Mexican restaurants in Grants Pass and they have all been excellent. She paid almost $11 for this tiny 4" thing. tonight we went to a local "friends house" and got that monster 7 1/2" chimi for less $. We have to give La Burrita 5 stars for our first visit. We came in at 12 noon on a Monday. Very quiet. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas which made our Christmas shopping lunch date that more special. We have always gone to Si Casa Flores and decided to try it over here and boy am I glad we did. We were immediately greeted and seated at a table. The drinks come in large glasses which is cool. I had the Chimichanga which was absolutely delicious. They season the chicken and it was so soft. The lunch plate is huge and for only $9.95. My wife had the two tacos and could not finish her meal. Not sure if you're like us and thought this was a fast food type place. It's not! I think we have found a new go to Mexican restaurant. read more

Ate dinner there last night. Son ordered two enchiladas with red sauce. The sauce had something terribly sweet in it..like sugar. He also ordered a salad and was served with no dressing or even a question as to what dressing he wanted. He finally asked for Italian and after 10 minute wait was told they had none and was offered thousand island. He then asked for oil and vinegar and after another long wait the server brought it. If you feel like Mexican food, this is an okay option. Good for lunch. We decided to go tonight and try to repeat the same experience, but were sadly disappointed. We were seated right away, chips and salsa brought to our table, then water. Then we waited and waited. Finally, someone came by and took our drink order. Then we waited and waited. I finally flagged someone down to have our order taken. That guy disappeared and we waited some more. Finally, after over 25 minutes, a wait person came to the table next to us; they had just been seated. After she heard me say I wasn't happy about the wait, she came over, apologized for the wait and took our order. Let me stop here for a moment. TIP stands for "to insure promptness." I think that definition has been lost. Wait people seem to think that just because they bring you food, they deserve money. I usually tip well, just so you understand. Most of the time, my wait person is polite, quick, and very attentive. This wait person ignored us once the food was served, which, by the way was 30 minutes more on our already lengthy wait. It was 15 minutes before I got my to-go box. The food was not as good as it had been at the lunch we'd experienced previous. Needless to say, we'll think twice before coming back and my tip reflected the service. read more

1 star for decent service. 1 star for cleanliness. Took 3 stars off for the meh food! Boyfriend ordered a carnitas burrito. I asked how it was and he gave me a taste to see what I thought. That was not carnitas! It was pork boiled in water, with no spices and than chopped. I ordered the seafood chimichanga. Nothing special. The white sauce tasted like mayonnaise. The salsa for the table tasted like Pace Picante that had been put through a blender. Maybe these weren't the dishes to try here. But in my book, any self respecting Mexican restaurant should know how to cook proper carnitas and make good salsa. This food was watered down for gringos. And I can say that cause I'm a gringo. This restaurant serves big portions (especially when it comes to their burritos) for a fair price and everything I have tried so far has been quite tasty. The tortilla chips are great as well as the salsa, and for just $1.50 more they'll serve you some delicious pico de gallo definitely worth the up charge. Went here for the first time today (11-1-21)). After an hour we decided to cancel our order and just pay for our drinks, the place only had a handful of people in it! The waitress after hearing this said our orders were coming out the window and was on their way. 20 mins later still no food so we walked to the cash register to leave and pay for our drinks. We flagged down a waitress and said we wanted to pay for our drinks as we had been there for nearly 1.5 hrs and still no food. Waited at the cash register for 5 mins and no one came. We ended up just walking out unnoticed. A family of 7 who had arrived after us also walked out after getting no food and said "I guess the drinks are free". Would not recommend this place. We came here for the first time, and I ordered my favorite go-to Mexican dish, the Chili Verde. I loved it! The corn tortillas were super delicious, as was the rest of the food. Came in with a large group at 6pm on a Wednesday night. I had called ahead to reserve a table, mostly to warn them in advance, as I figured a Wednesday night would be very busy, and I was right. Let me start off by saying that our larger group, was all family, and nobody is rude, or disrespects servers, and we all understand that there are a lot of places that have staffing shortages right now, However, that was not the case .. Initially we waited a very long time for someone to come around to take drinks orders, finally my sister went up and asked, the servers said until we 'all sat down' they would not come. okay, fine.. we all sat down at once, had she told us, we would have gladly made that happen. Still waited for a bit, nobody came. Finally, we placed a drink order, that also took forever to get. Then the food, that was also an insanely long wait, and again, someone had to go up front and ASK for someone to come over and take our order! At the tail end of dinner, my mother in law ordered another beer, we were sitting about 6 inches for the bar, and the beer never came. But, when our friend went up front they were all standing talking to one another. The food was pretty good, but, the staff was unwelcoming , and made if very clear from the start that they didn't want to help us. I was actually a little embarrassed, and wish I had chose somewhere else to go. I can honestly say, that I will likely never return, and I'm pretty sure that everyone else in our party will either. :( Let me just make it clear again, it was a Wed night, and the restaurant was not busy. The website says they close at 10pm, but they were doing all their end of shift clean up, and had the doors locked at around 8:30? and were ignoring us, trying to push us out the door. Came here with a large party pretty late at night. We are from out of town but were dining with regulars. We had two young kids and a toddler with us, yet sat there for THIRTY minutes before anyone took our food order. That is a pet peeve of mine, especially when there are antsy kids involved. The food itself was good and didn't take too long. Once again though, we waited and waited for the checks. I finally had to flag down the waiter and let him know I wanted to leave, as my child was way past her bed time. For those who want a leisurely dining experience, and are in no rush, the food is decent. If you are on any type of time schedule or are with little ones, this may not be the best option. I've just read some of the other reviews and it appears they have had similar experiences with slow service. read more

Horrible ! Huge eggshell in my moms food, took 10 mins to get help. Than I found raw rice in my food, a,piece jabbed my gum and hurt me... owner claimed it wasn't rice threw it back on my plate and took my food back. When the bill came she expected me to pay for it ! SERVICE SUCKED! I love their food but I haven't actually had the food in the last four times I have been there because we end up walking out. Last night we tried it again, the lady came and took our drink order but not our food order when we were clearly ready. We got chips and salsa and sat for another 20 minutes with NO drinks. Then I see the waitress in the corner sit down and start eating dinner and still no drinks for us and the food order wasn't taken. I was fed up and took my business to Si Casa Flores. OK let me just say I have eaten in this place more times than I would like to admit because my grandmother seems to think this is good Mexican food. I would have given them only one star but the service was really friendly and the atmosphere is actually pretty nice but the food is awful. It is salty and taste nothing like the Mexican food I've had all of the country and in Mexico. I don't want to sound mean but it taste like dog food, Alpo. I literally have a hard time eating five or six bytes of my food and usually throw all of it away just to make my grandma feel good but this place needs new cooks or new recipes I'm not sure which maybe both. read more
