Doesn't it sound like the name of a 1970's TV detective show about undercover aerobics instructors starring Suzanne Somers and the Landers sisters? "FREEZE! Drop your weapons, buster! We're LA Buns!" But no such luck as it was a burger joint in the heart of WeHo. In a particularly weak moment after gazing at all the hardbodies on the floats during WeHo Pride, Jamie W. and I decided to indulge. No, not that way. Both of us ordered the $7.89 Chili Cheese Burger (photo: https://bit.ly/443FrH8), but we showed some modesty and shared the $4.89 French Fries (photo: https://bit.ly/3OnPhh6). We even had our limits. The burgers were more Sloppy Joe style than truly satisfying, but does it matter when the eye candy provided all the calories we could handle? OK, that sounded like we helped ourselves to... No, we just ate meat and carbs. That still didn't sound right, did it? FOOD - 3 stars...sloppy chili cheeseburgers if that floats your boat AMBIANCE - 3 stars...one of those roadside places with just outdoor seating SERVICE - 3 stars...fast and unmemorable TOTAL - 3 stars..."you're under arrest...we're LA Buns!" The food here was absolutely bomb. I enjoyed myself a lot in here with my friend. We ordered 2 sodas, 1 burger, 1 taco plate, 1 side of fries. Total is like $32. Definitely enough food to take home. However, when I asked for utensils, the chef seems unhappy with me. Other than that, great experience.

    Chorizo burrito. My fav

Love LA Buns! I get a kick in my step when I know I'm picking up my fav chorizo burrito from LA Buns. The egg to chorizo is on point: one ingredient doesn't overpower the other. The fries are made to order. Delish! Affordable prices and friendly helpful staff. A+

Great local go-to. Recently increased prices and reduced hours but they are still in business and an affordable local option.

Great place to grab a bite after a night out with friends. I have to admit that I was a tipsy when I ordered a burrito from here one night. The Burrito was delicious and I also had a side of chips with salsa. My friends had the tacos and they said it was really good too. I actually want to come back and try the food when I'm completely sober lol. Then I'll really know if it's as good as I remember. The downside is that it's CASH ONLY...which loses a star. I'm NOT a fan of Cash Only places.....It's 2017!!! It's in very convenient location on Santa Monica Blvd. I'm guessing that a majority of their customers are from the Santa Palm Car Wash. Great way to wait for your car while it's being washed. Parking is street metered for the most part. Not sure if there are any areas without restrictions for parking. I'll definitely be giving this place another shot. More photos to come!

The owner and host were genuinely kind, patient, and super helpful. They walked us through the menu, shared the story behind the restaurant, and pointed out new and interesting items. The food: amazing. We ordered the cheeseburger, the wild burger, and truffle fries. The cheeseburger and fries were absolute hits. My friend got the wild burger and he really liked it. Wasn't my favorite, but that's purely on me; I'm just not into sweetness on burgers. Totally a personal taste thing, not a knock on the quality. Overall, top stars and an easy recommendation. We'll definitely be back, and I'll work my way through the entire menu.

The owners are super nice and welcoming, which always leaves a good impression. On my second visit (just a regular day), the experience was a little different. The staff didn't seem very attentive to me or my guest. Nothing rude.. just not very engaged. That said, the restaurant does some really cool things. One feature I liked a lot was the spin board that displays your name when your order is ready.. small touch, but creative and fun. Because of the quality of the food and the overall vibe, I'm leaving four stars instead of something lower. The service didn't quite take it over the top, but there also wasn't anything bad enough to knock it down further. With more consistent attentiveness from staff, this spot could easily be a standout.

I've been a frequent flyer of Boo's (since I'm over in Ktown) and also quite a few orders over the years from South Philly Experience and twice from Matu (but that's a major treat and honestly way overpriced). All of these have their own great bits about them and I love all these spots. This isn't going to be a "who's better than who" since each is different in their own right and hits the spot different ways. I got the sweet pepper steak on seeded roll with of course, Cooper's! Then I got a classic Italian hoagie (with Cooper's) loaded up double meat/cheese. Biiiiig bonus using Boar's Head meats too, top shelf stuff. The fact that they're using Cooper's is a major plus and can get a seeded roll is such a nice touch. I do love a classic Amoroso, but seeded with the cheesesteak and Cooper's gives Matu a run for its money (and saves my wallet). Of course the meat quality is very different due to Matu using Wagyu but let's be real, that's really what you're paying for there. It's a nice treat but not an every other day get your money's worth. I feel I've found my favourite cheesesteak now though! The roll is super fluffy and crunchy where it needs to be. That thing was swaddled like a cared for newborn when it arrived and still hot from Melrose. Absolute 9/10 for me. The Italian was properly loaded and as I sit here enjoying it, a nice zingy break between cheesesteak bites as I split them half and half for lunch. For speed I love some Boo's, for the grill char taste I love some South Philly Experience but overall for my favourite spot now, it's Philly's Best off Melrose. Matu again is a great quality cut treat but the wait, the cost and the amount you get is not really worth it. Will absolutely be ordering from this place again in the future!!

We stopped in on a Sunday around 11:30, no line and very quick service! Finished eating and left around 12:05 so we must've lucked out with no line. We got two double cheese burgers and the loaded fries. The burger had impressively thin patties with a really nice char on the meat skirt, well seasoned, and perfectly crispy. The buns were quite small and a bit smooshed, but they were soft. It came with some fry sauce and pickles as well, overall a good burger. The fries had a good amount of toppings (cheese onions, fry sauce) and were nice and crispy. Kinda wish the onions were slightly more grilled for some extra flavor! Would probably go for plain next time as the loaded fries and burger together had similar flavors The interior has a few benches for seating and single bar type seating around the perimeter - I could see it filling up if there's a big line of people. I have carried life's burden and traveled continents, but one thing remains the same after my many moons of life, the taste of a Big Mac. The taste of a burger so consistent and familiar, that my tastebuds can traverse continents and taste fermented shark in the Netherlands, broiled Mackerel in Kyoto, or a cheeseburger in Reykjavik. The Big Mac stays the same. I went to LA to taste, apparently, the best burger in LA at For the Win. I paid $25 for two smash burgers and had high expectations. After all, when you click this joint on Google Maps, a fancy review pops up. Nice! However, when the smash burger entered my cave and caressed my buds, my mind instantly recognized it as a Big Mac. Therefore, my brain could hardly differentiate between a McDonalds burger, and the "best" burger in LA. I haven't eaten at McDonalds in 14 years, but my mind still knew what a gentle and warm face looks like. So overall, it was alright! As the reverend Shane Gillis says "Not Bad". The service was good tho. And the ambiance was a bit weird because the music was off. Haha bye!!!
