The issue was simple: before leaving, I specifically asked whether the item I ordered was in the bag. I was told that it was, only to drive 20 minutes home and discover that it was not there. When I made the initial call, I was clearly very annoyed about what had happened. I was ultimately refunded for the missing item. In my original review, I still gave the business three stars. After reading their response, I'm lowering that to two. They publicly stated that I told them "everything else with my order and experience was excellent." That is completely false. I never said that. Not once. Yes, mistakes happen. But how a business handles a mistake and makes it right is what separates a great business from a poor one. In this case, the original mistake could have been easily put behind us. Instead, their response made the situation worse. Making a mistake with an order is one thing. Publicly inventing a statement and attributing it to a customer in order to make their complaint seem unreasonable is something entirely different. If you want to defend your business, defend it with the facts. Don't put words in a customer's mouth that were never said.
