We came to La Bella Donna about 9:00 on a Friday night, they are open until 10:00, most restaurants close at 9:00 in Donegal town. They were busy and after a brief wait we were seated. While we were waiting the bartender poured us a few drinks and he was super friendly. We order fried mozzarella, margherita pizza and sausage tagliatelle. The fried mozzarella was average at best. The tagliatelle was tasty. The pizza was initially good, but then we realized it was super salty, the crust was even super salty. Our server was a sweetheart, she was young and gave us great advice on where to go out after dinner, we are traveling with my 19 year old son. So although the food was not great, the service was top notch. read more

Enjoyed an amazing dinner at La Bella Donna tonight. Cocktails were spot on, service was impeccable, and the food was on par with what we've enjoyed on visits to Italy. My only complaint was that the portions were so enormous we didn't have room to try dessert- and the tiramisu looked amazing. This place came highly recommended from the lodge we are staying in and they were spot on! Every single item we purchased had such divine flavor and was absolutely delicious. Best Italian food I've ever had in Ireland (so far)! Seriously. It was a huge surprise given that we stumbled across it while doing some shopping in the little town square and expected to just have another Irish dinner. It's a few steps from the other restaurants and worth the short walk. The service was stellar and enhanced the cozy home feel and, like any good Italian home, the wine choices were plentiful. My wife had the monkfish with roasted vegetables. It was well sized and perfectly prepared. There's an extensive list of pasta dishes so I was headed in that direction - they even have a gluten free option. (It was a cold, rainy night and comfort food sounded good - Cold and rainy in Ireland, shocking, right? ) Changed my mind when a pizza arrived to the table next to us. Wow. I am so glad I got one of my own. Outside of Italy, it was literally the best pizza I've had in Europe. Wood-fired and exactly like they do it Napoli. Highly, highly recommend. read more

We traveled to Donegal on our own after a 10 day arranged tour of Ireland. While we enjoyed the mostly Irish style food on the tour, we were ready for something different. We came across La Bella Donna. We had a pizza and salad and thought it was wonderful. Prices are very reasonable, including for a bottle of wine. Service was very friendly. It was a rainy day when we came here for dinner so we expected a warm place with good food to escape that kind of weather. And we wasn't disappointed at all. I had a Tagliatelle con Pollo e Funghi Porcini and it was super nice and tasty. My boyfriend ended up with a very good pizza that he liked a lot too. Staff was so friendly as well! Surprisingly good authentic Italian food in a modern looking establishment, and probably some of the best food in the area. Good food, the staff are attentive, on busy nights the food can take a long time to make it to the table (so make sure to get a starter to tide ye over). I'm partial to their pasta with pesto sauce, which I think is pretty authentic, and their pizzas are good too. If you don't like pasta, they do a very good sirloin steak in a variety of sauces. The house wine is usually grand, and they have a variety of beers. Last time I was there they had a nice Italian larger called Peroni. The place looks small but they have a huge upstairs! If you don't have drinks you can get out of here for less than €20. To find it, it's down the end of Bridge street near the bridge and a few doors away from the Reel Inn. read more

We loved Pizza Frutti di Mare (seafood). Pizza Margeritta and greek salads were great too. The waiter (it seemed it might be the owner) was super nice and was making some jokes, made us feel great after about 5 hours of driving that day. read more

WOW! The food was excellent. I am not expecting that at first. It is tasty and real authentic Italian food. It is better than back home. The waitress is very nice. I order linguine alla pescatora and I asked if I can have tomato sauce instead and they said ok. My boyfriend got Salmon which is good and tasty and they also has a Italian beer on draft. On June 2016, we visited La Bella Donna Restaurant in Donegal. We went for lunch but it was closed (open from 5 PM to 10 30 PM). We tried again for dinner and the food was great. Excellent Italian restaurant. I would recommend it. We had Cesar Salad, Dita Mozzarella and Polenta with Mushrooms and Pancetta for entrées, Chicken & Mushroom Risotto and Linguine Bolognese as main courses. Very well cooked, lovely flavours and colours, the staff was courteous and we didn't have to wait very long even though they were quite busy. read more

We recently ate at this restaurant. It was very good. The interior is modern and clean. Our waiter,Nabil, was very good. He waited on several tables and was able to deliver dishes promptly. Such a surprise to find exquisite Italian food in Ireland! And, no joke, this is some of the best Italian we have had in a long time anywhere (and we are serious foodies) - plus a great atmosphere and wonderful service. My chicken Marsala was divine, my father's seafood risotto was teeming with a variety of shellfish, calamari, etc. (apparently the calamari was amazing - tender with perfect flavor per my husband and father), and my husband's sausage risotto with peppers was wonderful. Such a delight we are returning tonight to experience the pizza and dessert! A definite recommendation if in Donegal! read more

A pretty tasty restaurant. I ordered the calamari... tubes, a bit of a small plate, but the marinara sauce was tasty. Also ordered the Monkfish with roasted veggies. It was a tasty dish. Would order it again. I tried my friends' dishes also. Caprese salad, very fresh mozzarella, very tasty. Chicken, mushroom pasta with cream sauce, excellent... And mushroom risotto, so delicious! A very impressive meal. I went for the tagliatelle with Italian sausage and mushroom in a cream sauce as my main course. For dessert, I had the pistachio and caramel semifreddo, which is akin to an ice-cream cheesecake. Both dishes were wonderful. The chef here is top notch, and the service was excellent. The semifreddo gelato was absolutely, positively AMAZING! I originally thought that it would be semi-melted gelato, however, it came out looking a bit cake-like. Hesitantly, I took my first bite and fell in love with this dessert. This cake-shaped pistachio and almond gelato was fantastic! It was one of the best desserts I have EVER had! read more
