Out of the dining options available at the Hyatt Ziva, this one was hands-down the best one we visited! Elevated French dining with excellent service. A little slow for food orders to come out, but I didn't feel neglected during my dining experience. This is an adults-only restaurant, so it's a good choice if you want to get away for a bit! They do have smart casual dress code, so just be sure to check before you visit! No reservation needed.
What we ate:
Appetizers:
- sauteed mussels (White wine sauce, lemon emulsion, parsley and garlic, served with western potatoes, 4 pieces): Lots of greens on top of mussels, but the mussels were good!
- Frise salada with bacon (Fresh lettuce salad with smoked duck slice, potatoes, onion, crispy bacon and warm vinaigrette): I would say this was an okay salad. Smoked duck slice was basically a less oily bacon.
- parfait de foie gras (Apple meaning with Calvados, smoked fig sauce): We were intrigued when this came out, as it didn't look like the foie gras we are accustomed to. I think it was a slice of foie gras on top of the "apple meaning," which I'm not even sure what that is... but it was a fruity base. I almost think this dish could be a small dessert.
- French onion soup (Onion soup au gratinée): It almost looks like a souffle when it come out! It's onion soup with a layer of cheese that rises over the bowl. I ordered it because I saw other tables with it and asked our waiter what it was. So good, would recommend! I usually don't like French onion soup because they tend to be too salty, but this one wasn't!
Main courses:
- Agneau rôti (Roast lamb with sage and black pepper, pear puree with goat
cheese, currant sauce and Vichy carrots): Love lamb, and this one certainly hit the spot! Would get it again.
- Canard au miel de pissenlit (Duck au dandelion honey, vegetables flavored with balsamic vinegar): Duck is always a good choice, and a healthy one too. I thought it was pretty well done!
Desserts:
- Créme brûlée de citrus: Just as it sounds - a little citrusy creme brulee. I was a little disappointed by the lack of caramelization on top, but I still ended up eating most of it, especially since it was a small dish!
- Saint-honor with light vanilla cream: Would not recommend - the cookie on the bottom is too thick to cut through with even a fork.
Drink:
- house cabernet read more
