This place is located on a road with many bus routes passing through. If you happen to live in an area that is served by one of these buses, you will be lucky, because you can hop off near La Basque when you're coming home from work, and collect a 15" pizza for £6.99. This price is unbeatable!
The pizza is stretched thinly and skilfully by their chef, it is topped to perfection, and finally, baked on a wood-fired stone oven just like in Italy.
What comes out of that oven is a deliciously crisp, flavourful pizza that will make you lick your fingers! I ordered half Granfesta and half Quattro Formaggi, and they were both appetising and good looking.
The crust has that authentic, almost smokey flavour that you get when they are baked in wood-fired ovens... It's hard to believe that this place is down on Willesden, the quality of the pizza is worthy of a place on a posh restaurant in Central London, but please don't get this as a bad thing, it's great that they are based off central London because the pizzas are cheaper in price, so you can have more of them.
There are two tables inside the pizza parlour, with seating for two people each, but they are small and not designed to be used for long times. It is more for those who want to have a quick pizza fix there.
When I went to eat in, there were a group of 5 Italians eating there too, and they were enjoying it. I am half-Italian and growing up with Italian food, I know that the stuff they make here was truly good, the others who were there seemed to be enjoying it as well.
I recommend this place for the sheer awesomeness of the pizza, you don't just find good food like this out of central London that easily and I was glad I found La Basque.
PS. They accept credit cards on orders over £10. read more
