HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!…read more DO NOT VISIT. Cocktails are £9 each but my Aperol Spritz was so flat and I asked them to make it again and it was the same drink that was returned to me. When we complained the owner was very rude and said he did us a favour my making it again, but it was the same drink since I could see my lipstick marks. Food was below average for the price. I would recommend walking to Bella Italia across the road for atleast a decent meal.

There's no need really to tell you what kind of food is served at Bella Italia. Being part of a…read morechain, I believe, has lead to hinder it's potential as a restaurant, although it does have some rewarding beneficiaries. Decked out in seemingly (because I'm no authority on the matter) authentic and warm Italian furnishings and interior design, this is a small little restaurant that could be a nice breath of fresh air in comparison to the other more stressful places in Central London. Admittedly however, I did find it a little claustrophobic. The food here is an (albeit slight) cut above the rest of the Italian restaurants that you'll find in this price range. I went for a simple pasta dish and, being a food geek, was quite disappointed to see that they hadn't paired up the right kind of pasta (in this case Linguini) with the right kind of sauce (Salsa Di Pomodoro). This definitely made me question the authenticity of the place, but then again it did taste alright and was pretty cheap as well. Other options on the menu were seemingly a little too "commercial" for my liking. There's the Burger Italiano, or the Polo Milanese (breaded chicken on spaghetti Napoli, which to be honest sounds a little beige), although the pizza did look quite appetising; if you're with a crowd of fussy eaters (which I would hope you're not) then Bella Italia will probably do the trick. If you plan on going, be prepared to wait in a cue for a little while. It's also worth bearing in mind that--in addition to the "authentic vibe"--the service is somewhat fiery, but what can you expect, you are eating Italian after all.

We came in for dinner, but one of my friends ordered the omelette, which was huge as well as an order of tomato soup. Another one of my friends ordered the chicken which was pan fried but not breaded. They both enjoyed their food quite a bit. My other friend and I both ordered the spaghetti bolognese with an order of garlic bread. She thought the garlic bread was missing the garlic, however I disagree. I thought the food was delicious and generous portions!

What a disappointing experience for our last night in London. (The "outside" pictures here are…read moreoutdated; the restaurant has moved into a different space on a pedestrian street in Soho, with an updated feel.) We first were sat in an area where there should not even be a table, as much as I am sympathetic to the need to make a profit in a difficult industry. We were backed up to the server area (POS system, etc.) and fire extinguisher setup. We asked the nice Scottish hostess about it, and after a bit, she had us sat upstairs. If nothing else, the ambiance was incredible: trendy without trying too hard, relaxed, and a bit mediterranean in London! The service was hilariously slow, as if Mr. Bean was managing the waitstaff. It took at least 20 minutes just to get water. We each got an appetizer. My shrimp dish was revolting. The heads were on, which itself is fine, but what floored me was the lack of attention to detail...overcooked shrimp, to the point of being mushy. Worse yet, the lemon ish sauce it was drowning in was sour in the worst ways, basically edible astringent. The ravioli I got later was not as bad, but largely flavorless and lukewarm at best. It had clearly been sitting, waiting to get picked up, not only because of the temperature, but another basic cooking mistake - broken sauce. There was the sauce, and then the oil pooling around it. Amateurish stuff that, while not expensive in this area of London, was still not worth the price point...

There isn't much around the station but this place is literally across the street. Usually, that would mean it probably couldn't be that great, I was totally wrong! We walked in and there's a long hallway that leads to the open kitchen and restaurant. There is a definite warmth and coziness about the place, it feels like a neighborhood spot! The host was welcoming and was able to squeeze us in without a reservation. Menus were produced and drink orders taken quickly. All the Italian staples were there and it was great that some of their pastas were even homemade! While the pasta was tempting (always in the mood for pasta), one look at their pizza oven pretty much solidified our decision to get one of their pizza offerings. To balance the pizza, we ordered a Caprese salad (£5.50). The salad was light and fresh and a great start to our meal. Since we knew we would be having more food with our friends, we only ordered one pizza. The Capricciosa consisted of tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms, artichokes & olives (£10.95) and came to our table piping hot. They had even cut the pizza in half and placed it on two plates since they knew we were sharing. That's service we rarely see in London! The crust was thin, crispy and slightly sweet - really good. The toppings were all fresh and the cheese was perfectly melted. Everything was reasonably priced, fresh and tasty and the service was friendly and on point. From start to finish this was a great meal. Sadly, we don't live anywhere near here or this would definitely become our regular go to for Italian.
