Indulged in tasting menu and wine pairing. It was excellent! Staff was kind and accommodating. Aesthetic was beautiful.

Halibut and wild mushrooms with black garlic (highly recommend & best menu option by far)

This is a beautifully decorated, colorful, warm, creative, romantic and friendly bistro in the heart of Quebec city with both indoor and outside patio seating This was our first restaurant destination upon arrival in this charming European like Canadian city. The staff were both friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The menu itself was limited with only 3 to 4 options per course and overall each of those dishes themselves we found small in proportion all be they delightful in flavor. The stand out of the dishes was the halibut with mushroom entrée which we enjoyed so much we ordered a second portion. We found the restaurant menu overall more creative & artistic than a typical restaurant and while we enjoyed the experience and the flavors, we did wish the portions and variety of options to choose from to be larger.

The menu is seasonal, so it changes. We started with the fresh oysters. The cucumber and basil foam on top was refreshing. We were given an amuse bouche afterwards. The waiter said it was a fried tomato, but I think it was mushroom. I wished I could've had more of it! Then we ordered dishes from the garde-manger (cold kitchen) section. The first was the veal crudo & chanterelles. I especially enjoyed the quinoa crisp that came with the dish. We also had the mozzarella & zucchini. It was beautifully plated. It also came with a cute loaf of focaccia. Both dishes were the highlights. As my entree, I had the corn & poached lobster. It's a cavatelli pasta dish. I liked the roasted corn cream sauce that was used as it's not too heavy. My bf had the duck & kimchi. It came with two pieces of tender duck. I guess the bok choy was supposed to be the kimchi part, but he described it as pickled rather than being kimchi. Service was great. Our plates were cleared quickly and and water was refilled. The components of our dishes were explained when delivered to us. There were a few words that seemed to be lost in translation though. Overall, this was our favorite meal in Quebec City. It was not the most budget friendly, but it was worth it!

Creative food with fresh, seasonal ingredients. We really enjoyed our meal here. Love the decor and ambiance. Service was excellent. We had the oysters, cheese plate, shrimp bao, and arctic har with herring. All were very tasty. I wished I had room for dessert, because they all sounded divine!

SO and I had dinner here last week and went with their tasting menu, which was vegan or omnivorous...although we could have had one of each, we both elected to go with the omnivorous menu. While they were preparing for our service, we enjoyed some refreshments along with a dozen oysters with mignonette froth and some fish eggs...these were very fresh and satisfying! A complimentary mini charcuterie of rillette, shrimp, and smoked jerky or bacon hors d'oeuvres was soon delivered.  These were very creative appetizers...a sign of what was to come! Our 1st course was a scallop ceviche with spinach puree along with a crispy tomato tuile to use as a scoop...very light and flavorful! The 2nd course was a Lebanese inspired dish comprising of seared beef with roasted cucumbers and naan...very delicious! The 3rd course was arctic char with turnip tagliatelle, shitake and enoki mushrooms and basil stems in a white wine and cream sauce...a delightful combination! The 4th course was quail two ways, which was our favorite.  Grilled marinated breast stacked on top of a leg lollipop in a quinoa crust nestled on a bed of polenta, topped with some tomato salsa and small dollops of herb puree on the plate...a packed yet compact and powerful dish! Our dessert was a parsnip flan with maple sponge toffee, crumble of oats and chicory mousse...very tasty and not too heavy! Overall, the service and food were exceptional.  This place was different from most places in that some of the staff were doing double duty.  For eg. our bartender also delivered some courses and was also very knowledgeable about the menu...when 1st ordering our dinner, he knew where we were going with our line of questioning when we asked if we could add items from the a la carte menu and he advised against it because the tasting menu would be sufficient...he was correct.  Additionally, every dish is creative and goes the extra mile without over doing it.  A very memorable culinary experience was had here and Michelin judges should take notice!

A culinary delight tucked into a side street just one block away from the port. The ambience was elegant, quiet and perfect for our 26th anniversary dinner. We decided on the a la carte menu. The first course was fried ravioli stuffed with caramelized sweet onions. A perfect palate preparation to enjoy with our wine. Just one each which was also perfect This was followed by cooked oysters - I ordered six, next time I will order a dozen - the boar bacon and jalapeño pepper complimented the oysters and au gratin, an exciting combo. Next, my favorite dish, the Tataki de veau & courge fumee. (Veal tataki and smoked squash) the veal was perfectly seared with an apple balsamic drizzle. The fumee was creamy and flavorful. I might have a double order of this next time, as an entree. Last was the guinea fowl and cauliflower, another inventive combination. It had a nice symphony of flavors and textures, I loved the crunchy sage semolina and cauliflower puree. I thought the fowl could have used a little more spice on it but that's just preference on my part. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his order of raw oysters, his third course was the arctic char, he commented that it was a new flavor for him that he would like to try again. Fourth course: He says the halibut was lovely and nicely prepared. He would have liked the pasta and red sauce served separately from the white sauce accompanying the halibut. Everything was fresh and organic. Would have loved to watch these dishes being prepared. The restaurant was full you may need a reservation depending on the day. We were there on a Thursday and were seated without one. Service, the restaurant staff were professional, friendly and personable. Put this one on your itinerary!

nice ambiance. The bathrooms are clean and really cool - it's a creative way to dry hands. You have to see it to understand. We went with our 6-year-old who is hard to please. They made a basic pasta with cheese and tomato sauce for her and she was happy. She also had the veal with celery root. She didn't like the celery root (I did - they prepared it three different ways and it was very creative)... but finished the veal. We (the adults), did the tasting menu. You will now know what it's going to be ahead of time, but it's 6 courses and inspired by regular menu. I liked the bao buns with lentils. There was a boa bun with shrimp too. I didn't like it as much. I forgot to mention that tasting menu could be vegetarian or not. We went with the omnivore option. We also ordered drinks. At first, due to language barrier, my husband got the wrong drink but they fixed it quickly and he loved it. Service was great! We are in the French speaking part of Canada, and while the staff spoke English fine for the most past, those who didn't were very sweet about it and tried. The place is on the pricey side, but food was good and there is a quiet, calm atmosphere to it. There were people on dates, who went with wine pairing for the tasting menu and there was a big family in the table next to us (about 10 people). It's a small restaurant but they were able to accommodate all the different clients very nicely. I would recommend it. One thing I would improve would be some more variety in food options in the tasting menu. While the two bao buns were good, it would have been nice to try something different.

Beautiful location inside and out. Top-notch, attentive service. We ordered the vegan discovery menu. The entire experience took almost 2.5 hours. The dishes were tasty, creative and well-presented. Will certainly make our way back here in the future.

Sunday Brunch was so amazing. There were multiple options - both vegan / seafood / meat oriented(see photo of menu and please LIKE your favorite pics :) Cost $45 person / includes a coffee drink of your choice (ie latte , cappuccino, etc). We stayed in QBC a day longer to dine here for breakfast - so worth it and the back deck overlooked the St Lawrence river on a beautiful sunny day! The service was exceptional and the decor creates an amazing backdrop to your dining experience! Bon Apetit!!

This was one of the best meals I had in Quebec City and a wonderful way to end our trip. The restaurant is in the lower town on a cobblestone pedestrianized street and in a historic building, but inside is very nicely modernized with tasteful decor. The staff were very accommodating and had good drink recommendations. The menu has several vegan options (labeled) and several more that can be veganized. I had the vegan version of the cavatelli with corn sauce & lobster (made with tofu) which was so incredible that I am still thinking about it over a month later. Prices are fairly high but worth it for the quality and experience. The staff speak English and there is an English menu available.

We lucked out almost all restaurants on our way back was booked and L'Orygine happened to have a table for us, the walk-ins. Amazing food and service at amazing price! The menu indicated they are a seasonal restaurant and I had the best duck hearts and the best 'veggies pasta' (celery based or imitated?) . I was a bit worried that they are not kid-friendly, but totally not the case as I saw a few junior and baby diners :)

    Corn dish

11/10, came highly recommended and lived up to the hype. Service excellent, food even better. Each meal starts with an amuse bouche and scented hot hand towel. Wine selection incredible, mocktail delicious. I had the corn appetizer and zucchini carpaccio, with the buckthorn dessert. Creative and well-balanced, each dish was executed with obvious skill and authenticity. I felt a sense of joy while dining, and would happily return.

The eggs were cooked perfectly, the toast buttered and fluffy, the hashbrowns were cooked well and seasoned well which is such a bonus as I find sometimes hashbrowns are lacking a lot. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. Most of the staff are also LOTR fans, so there is a nice opportunity to geek out together and see the inspiration for some of the dishes. Very much recommended for a nice evening out in Quebec City.

Strongly recommend the charcuterie board and the asparagus risotto. The halibut tail was fresh. The service was great. We had no reservations and got there around 1:40, they accommodated us. But be aware the kitchen closes at 2, you will need to order fast. The restaurant was cute.

They seem pretty decent or small sized with a sizeable staff and a really small menu but service and delivery lacks. Lunch menu has two options - prix fixe for $52 which seems overpriced and lackluster and a tapas (more ne pas) menu with $5 plates. We had vegetarian and pescatarian restrictions and could only order some items - we got their foccacia (which is a tiny bread slice with some tomatoes), vegetable(S) of the day and they said it'll have a bunch of veggies but we got 5 slices of beet, smoked fish vol-au-vent which is ridiculously small and not hot and is listed as a hot plate, a soup of the day that never arrived and upon asking several times the server told us he said soon and could ask the time because he doesn't know?!, an almost thumb sized bite of cake which also took forever to arrive Drinks are fine i guess, the bar staff is a bit better at explaining and timeliness. Overall, not a good experience.

It's conveniently located near Old Town's main attractions, as well as other food spots and shops. The ambiance inside is lovely, and the staff was welcoming and friendly throughout our visit. We ordered the French onion soup and a classic crêpe with egg, ham, cheese, and seasonal vegetables. The French onion soup was absolutely outstanding--easily one of the best I've ever had. The crêpe was equally delicious and far better than what we typically find back home. The only options for the egg were scrambled or over-easy, which felt a bit limited. Also worth noting: no Coke Zero, but Diet Coke is available. Overall, this spot is a must-visit if you're craving authentic crêpes and exceptional French onion soup.

The meal was mostly a hit with the shredded duck savory crepes a big hit. The French Onion soup was also very delicious! I did debate whether to try the dessert versions but ultimately stuck with the savory. The only miss was the La Cannoise, with ricotta, spinach, olives, tomato sauce, egg and pesto which was not a hit. Just a weird combination of flavors that I guess I don't find mesh well, this dish was mostly left behind. Service was really friendly and helpful.
