The sammie comes out piled high and two different hot sauces / salsas are brought to the table. Everything is super fresh and every bite you take is different. When you get close to L'As du Fallafel, you'll know, the scent of falafel fills this cobblestoned alleyway. It's also because there are one or two other places claiming to have the best falafels in the world. Instead of the famous falafel sandwich which I was still a bit too full to have, I decided to only have the falafels. Finally had the falafel platter after ordering something else seven years ago. Yes, I've been wanting to go back since then. It was so much food and very delicious. My friend got the chicken sandwich and she ate the entire thing. It was very tasty and flavorful. We went for a late lunch and there were only a few people ahead of us. I lived right next door at an Airbnb next to L'As du Fallafel so I can say with confidence that there is always a line here. I came here near opening and was able to get seated right away, but expect to wait a while if you come at any other time. I wouldn't let the wait deter you though - the line moves fast, and there's a good reason L'As du Fallafel has over 1000 reviews compared to the 10 or so fallafel places on the same street. I was tempted to get the lamb shawarma, but instead opted for the special falafel, which without exaggeration, everyone in the restaurant ordered. One would think it's hard to get a falafel sandwich right since it's only a few ingredients mashed together, but it's really the small details that takes the falafel to the next level. The pita here was warmed up nicely and incredibly fresh, the eggplant (I don't even like eggplant!) was cooked through and was seasoned well, the sandwich had just enough sauce so you weren't eating through a dessert of chickpea mash. There's even some hot sauce on the table if you want to add some spice. Overall excellent falafel. 10/10 would recommend. read more

In the Jewish quadrant, lies a treasure. Never would I have thought to get a falafel in Paris, but here I am and not a moment of regret. So much food and so cheap. The special falafel is special because it includes chopped red cabbage, eggplants, and mini falafels about an inch in diameter. Quite a lot packed into the pita pocket. The pita was well cooked and not soggy. It held up quite well until the end. I saw fries and I had to get some. They were quite generous with the fries but not so much the condiments. They were lacking a little as they only gave me one pack of ketchup for A LOT of fries. Note: Probably don't get the fries unless you are going to share and get more condiments because they gave enough fries for 3 people. The line to get inside was consistently long but you always have the option for take out which tends to go a lot faster. Delicious place with sweet workers. They are also very efficient. They had one guy standing in the middle of the street taking ticket orders and collecting payment. Very generous portions magically architected into a paper-wrapped pita. I kept expecting it to burst or spill but it holds together. to be fully devoured. Hot, fresh, perfectly fried falafel, made of chickpeas that are more finely ground than most, cleverly layered with vegetables (watch them make it, it's a many-step process) and topped with a ton of tahini sauce. Though the line is long, it was very efficient when we were there (late, like 10 or 11 PM, and not as long a line as we saw earlier). They have one guy going down the line taking orders and they assembled your order as we approached the window. Very quick; maybe 10 or 15 minutes. This was our first meal in Paris and it did not disappoint. We were a little disoriented as we just landed in Paris a few hours before and didn't know our way around Paris streets. But you will know you're close to L'As du Fallafel as there will be several people walking in the streets with a falafel sandwich in their hands. There was a queue which was not unexpected. However, it did go by quickly. The employee outside will ask if you are doing take away or eating in. If you do take away the employee will take your order while you wait in queue (if you ever been to In-N-Out it similar to that when it's really busy). I recommend having euros as you can pay the employee taking your order. If you have to pay by credit card, the employee will direct you to inside of the restaurant to pay. Then you will eventually come up to the window and see where the magic happens. The most popular sandwich is the fallafel which was delicious and my favorite out of the three different types that we ordered. The grilled chicken was second best and the gyro was the third. However, all three sandwiches were satisfying. The sandwiches have your choice of toppings which include green cabbage (possibly pickled?), red cabbage, eggplant, red onions, and cucumbers. Be smart and have everything in your sandwich. The eggplant especially is delicious and I would ask for extra eggplant. I'm not a huge fan of eggplant but this eggplant was seasoned and cooked in a way that transforms it. They will also ask you if you want your sandwich spicy or non-spicy; the correct answer is spicy. There's another falafel place directly across from L'As du Fallafel. Don't go to the wrong falafel restaurant. read more

I can't even describe how incredibly delicious and fresh their falafel is coupled with the fresh pita and all of the toppings... I seriously want to go back to Paris just for this meal! Actually, I've made it one of my necessary stops any time I've been in the city and have brought at least 3 different friends or family members simply because everyone deserves a food epiphany! The counter service is quick and to the point- figure out what your order is before you step up because they mean business! It's quick and dirty and just beyond any other falafel sandwich I've ever had in my life. They slather hummus on the fresh pitta, place several freshly fried falafel smother it in a tomato cucumber salad and incredible sauces at your request. NOTE: Get the fried eggplant, holy F! Just the most incredibly deep flavor that really rounds things out and of course get the spicy sauce. This place has some really good falafel. It is located in the middle of a Jewish Quarter of sorts in Paris. There are a few other falafel places nearby, and each place has a guy out front promoting their restaurant, which is unappealing. For whatever reason, this place is the only one that appears busy. You place your order with the guy outside and then pay your ticket inside. Then you give your ticket to the counter outside and they prepare your food. The falafel sandwich is 6 Euros and comes with eggplant, cabbages, cucumbers, tahini, falafel, and hot sauce. They put a good amount of falafel in the pita, some on top and some at the bottom of all the other fillings. The pita is fresh, thick, and chewy, which helps keep the sandwich from falling apart or leaking. The falafel is flavourful and fresh, but it is not the best falafel I've ever tried. The hot sauce is not spicy at all. Missing from the falafel sandwich is pickles, which belongs in any falafel pita. Overall, L'as du fallafel offers a solid falafel pita that is well put together, hot, fresh, and satisfying. I don't believe they've mastered falafel or the falafel sandwich, but it is definitely worth trying if you enjoy falafel. This place lives up to all the hype and more. We made a special trip here during our honeymoon per high recommendation, and we are so happy we did. The line may seem long, but is managed efficiently.
