    - excellent cafe for a brief stop -…read more My bro and I ordered the coffee with apple cake for 5 euro, the apple cake was delicious and there's wifi here. I asked for the wifi password, and the bartender told me it's the capital of Australia instead of telling me what exactly the pw is (which is cinberra). The decors here are super cute yet exotic, there are tons of traveling books on the bookshelf as well. The beer that my bro ordered for 4 euro was excellent as well. They also have seats on the patio upstairs, so it's nice when it's sunny too. There are also plenty of seats in the back as well, tho I prefer the sofa area. It's a good spot to get wifi or rest in the middle of your trip.

All the wall decor is travel-related (with photos of who I assume is the owner traipsing all around the world), and maps and license plates from all over. There's a giant lounge-y area with couches, there's seating in the front, back, and upstairs (including and outdoor area). The place is HUGE. We sat upstairs, which was cool because you could overlook the rest of the restaurant. I was advised to get the beef stew, which is a Gent specialty. It was definitely comfort food and well made, though a bit weird to eat in the summer. It came with a bunch of croquettes on the side, perfect for dipping in the sauce. Their menu also has all sorts of other random stuff like kangaroo and Asian fusion. Good beer selection as well!

Op een kleine afstand van het station (zijstraat van het geote plein) zag Bodega er gezellig uit. Buiten op het terras was heerlijk zitten en de tapas-gerechtjes waren lekker. En vriendelijke bediening. Zeker een aanrader.

As of November, 2018 the place has been open for two years. The energetic and kind host welcomed us in, and we sat at a pleasant two-top with a view of the boulevard and passers-by. Eggs Benedict was listed as a house specialty, so we gave it a try. At €9, it was a little small (only half the size of a typical Benedict. More aptly named "Egg Benedict," it comes with just one egg, a single strip of bacon, and perfectly sauteed spinach on a single hearty piece of toast) - but the flavors were excellent. Instead of the usual hollandaise used in the US, which I find a bit bland, Bodega's serves a richer bechamel. This worked wonderfully. We also shared a €7.50 Greek yogurt and granola. Note that granola in Europe means a slightly different cereal- more like what we call muesli. Toasted and nicely flavored rolled oats with nuts and a bit of dried fruit, but without the clusters we typically see. It's quite tasty and similar to granola, but less crunchy. Good value. Coffee was typical European excellent. We had cafe con leche (coffee with milk). One of those will wake you right up. Total cost was €22. Not much more than we'd pay at a cafe at home, but far higher quality. Four stars; a great score by my standard.

Along with drinks, I ordered the glazed pork belly. It was pretty awful and I don't use this word at all in any of my reviews. I think they were trying to put an Asian spin on it and make it taste like char siu or something. It had inklings that reminded me of char siu, but it was overly salty and didn't have much flavor to it at all. It was too salty that I didn't end up finishing it. My wife ordered the pork cheek stew. That was actually pretty good and the beer they used to braise it in gave it a slight sweetness. I did enjoy the white asparagus with ham though. The asparagus here in this region is bigger than the ones we get in the States. It was cooked in butter and tasted good. The ham really complemented it well. I would definitely order this again. If you do come here, I recommend getting a table downstairs by the river if you can. It's close to the restrooms and you get a view of the river. Though it was dirty looking, it still adds to the ambiance.

Dressing light but flavorful, super tasty. Make reservations ahead of time as they seem to book up pretty quickly.
