After eating pretty heavy dinners for the past two weeks, we were looking for something light to eat and saw this little tapas bar while wandering the neighborhood. It was Monday night and many other bars/brasseries were closed, so we dropped in. Our first clue that there might be a problem was when it took almost a half hour to get a dish of olives, a dish of marinated artichokes, and some pan con tomate (Spanish bruschetta). The bruschetta was pretty good, but the other two items were literally out of a can. On top of that, the waitress forgot our sangria. Our other two dishes, albondigas (meatballs), and patates bravas (fried potatoes) were both covered in a similar (canned) tomato sauce. At this point, we are thinking 2 stars, because even though the food wasn't that good, at least it was pretty cheap. However, the crowning glory of the night was the violent bout of food poisoning that my husband suffered a half hour after we left the restaurant. Since the only thing he ate that I didn't in the previous 24 hours was the meatballs, I think it's reasonable to assume they were the culprit. Therefore, I'm subtracting a star for the food poisoning and that leaves me with a rating of 1 star. read more
