I'm not a plant lover, but my friend is and really wanted to check it out, and I liked their unique look from the outside that made it different than the touristy spots all around Salem that I was getting a little sick of. I liked their selection of books and home decor. I loved a crystal tree they had and purchased it for a new display area I'm working on at home. I'd enjoyed my shopping experience so far and was excited about my purchase, but the staff member that rang me up was notably unfriendly. He ignored me for almost a full minute, continuing what looked like a craft project, before finally acknowledging me and directing me to the appropriate checkout station (he was standing squarely between two so I couldn't tell where to go). He ignored my polite attempts at small talk and seemed to rush the entire transaction so I would go away as soon as possible. I'd rate the store higher but was really off put by how I was treated, and other reviews note a similar attitude...I was starting to think I'd read into it, but this is clearly a trend. No employees greeted us or asked if we needed any help the entire time we browsed, in stark contrast to every other boutique I visited that day going above and beyond to make me feel welcome in their shop. Nice selection of items and pretty to look at, but be prepared for a dose of attitude.

I've cheated and gone to The depot to save money or home decor group in Swpt because it's closer, but never again. Recently I've redone three baths. First one I went to home decor group with a picture on my phone. Owner told me he can't match something on my phone and left me to find a similar swatch. Next two projects I went back to waters and brown. Heidi helped me match pictures and made spot on recommendations. I brought in samples and images and she gave great choices to match or coordinate. Then over to the counter for the actual paint. John couldn't be nicer and more helpful (plus he actually remembers me by name and project). Some projects easier than others. More complicated (expensive) projects he gave me questions to ask my contractor and alternatives. I so appreciate the service here. It's second to none and the quality can't be beat. That being said, the space is TIGHT, so I would recommend limiting the number of people allowed inside at one time. The variety is definitely a plus, but the prices were much higher than I expected. Some of the items felt pretty overpriced, $12 for one shot glass is insanity.
