He made the sandwich per my request as best he could. I chose to go with the JJ Sandwich (breaded chicken, mozzarella, jalapeños etc). I get to the cash register and a woman rings me up and mumbles something in another language to the man who's preparing the food she then proceeds to add a dollar onto my order and doesn't tell me why. Upon opening the sandwich, the chicken cutlet is soggy and seems like it was made days ago. Not sure if there other sandwiches are better but this sandwich for $13.50 was extremely underwhelming. I could've gotten a lunch special at a Thai restaurant down the street for cheaper and better food.

I will get the occasional breakfast sandwich (like an egg and cheese or bec), or a turkey/cheese sandwich for lunch or dinner. Otherwise, they have a pretty good menu of other types of sandwiches. Depending on who is making the sandwich, it will vary. Definitely a safe bet either way. They also have your usual snacks like potato chips, sodas, beers, and what not. I've been here a number of times because I'll be in the neighborhood. This is definitely one of my favorite bodegas around. My favorite part being how personable and friendly the family who runs it. They've now become a familiar face. Overall, a recommend for if you happen to be passing by. It's conveniently located by the F/G subway stop, so it's hard to miss.

Delicious Italian cheeses brought us back home and also certain prepackaged cookies and snacks totally warmed our hearts. It's a rather large grocery store where you'll find all kinds of Italian things from cheese to pasta, everything is imported from Italy. We loved the semi stagionato cheese and took home a lot of delicious black pepper cheese. Loved finding many different things I normally don't while bringing back some nostalgic things we love. If I'm in the area again I'll for sure make a quick stop here, totally worth it.

The only tough things to consider while ordering from here was the staff had a hard time understanding orders between my friend and I. The sandwiches from here does take a while to come out as they're making it from scratch - so be prepared for a semi long wait. We both ordered different items - a Philly cheesesteak and a chicken cutlet sandwich with a side of fries. This place has a good assortment of deli items and snacks to sell with a narrow hall. The hardest part from our experience was both the chef and the cashier had a tough time getting our food orders correct. My friend got a Philly cheesesteak but both of them added an order of fries with her sandwich when she didn't get one. Mine was the chicken cutlet sandwich with the fries but the cashier was about to ring up my order and almost mistakenly stated it was the Philly Cheesesteak (almost got charged the extra price for the wrong sandwich). Luckily my friend and I were detail oriented and stopped them before anything was entered. Since the extra side of fries was made, they were nice enough to give my friend this no extra charge. But it was quite painful to correct and shocking on the customer side. Food is still good and didn't have a bad experience once we got to munch on dinner. But definitely check your items and the price charge when ordering from here.

The bread? The meat? The condiments? The sauce.. gravy, francese, red sauce? The originality? What happens if you find all of the above in one shop? And where would you find it? Answer: Charlie's Sandwich Shop I am a long time resident of Bay Ridge and this is THE FIRST time I have tried a sandwich here. Mind you, my friends have raved about it. The shop is a gem and the options are plentiful. Every sandwich offered sounds delicious and there are weekly specials like Shrimp Parmigiana and Chicken Francese. I decided to go with the "How You Doing" sammy which consists of fried chicken cutlets, roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella on a toasted hero bread. The preparation took around ten minutes but the wait was worth it. The craftsman who prepared it handed it to me and said " Now here's a sandwich and it is going to take a bit to finish".* I replied " Yeah, a whole week"! Lol! I love the charm of the place; there are little gems, statues, pictures, menus adorning walls, counter and behind the scenes. Charlie's Sandwich Shop in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is owned by Charlie Bellomo along with his father, Salvatore Bellomo. This duo are serving "grand slams" sandwich style. I see many sandwiches in my future not just for me. How you doin? Just fine after tasting this delicious work of art! * take a look at my sandwich pic, tell me it is not the size of a boat? I had a 1/3 of it and saved the rest for future meal.
