GET. THE. PORK…read more RIDGE. I've eaten a lot of sandwiches in my time, and I'm pretty sure the Pork Ridge is a top 10 for me. It's porchetta, 'nduja, and provolone. How can you go wrong? I've been meaning to go to ALC for a while and finally had a chance to stop in before visiting my folks. The guys behind the counter are the nicest. They recommended the Pork Ridge as it's their Saturday special, and boy did it not disappoint! They sliced the porchetta off the roll and reheated it in the oven for me. It was topped with some aioli and grilled on a panini press, and it was just perfection. I also got the salmon with two sides for my parents to split. They're usually picky eaters, but they loved it! While you wait for your food, you can also do some grocery shopping. They have a ton of meats and cheeses, a fridge dedicated to caviar, and all other sorts of Italian specialties (like these delicious almond cookies from Italy that I bought). There are a few tables in the front if you want to sit and eat, but it's mostly a grab-and-go kinda place. Will 100% be back!

From the hot peppers to the cilantro, tomatoes and canned goods, Plaza is an excellent place to shop for home consumption. Hot sauce options are few but well positioned in price, chorizo and the queso not only found its way to my breakfast frying pan, but on the grill over the weekend as well for some BBQ. Staff was so helpful and I could not help but purchase the cactus ears and a few other non American typical grocery items. Having lived in Mexico for a few months, some of these items remind me of those days in Rosarito.

That said, the owners would benefit from paying close attention to customer feedback. One major issue that makes this location less welcoming is the level of customer service. In particular, a staff member in the meat section (an uncle who wears glasses) has been consistently unfriendly and comes across as hostile toward customers. I'm not sure what the reason is, but interactions like this are a big reason I've chosen to return to Forum, another Asian supermarket in the area. Jmart truly excels in product selection but falls short in the customer service department. With better staff training and a stronger focus on customer experience, this store could easily become a standout. As it stands, I'll likely continue taking my business to places like Forum.

The minimum credit card charge is still ten dollars. Some items are labeled entirely in Japanese. I've been looking into the health benefits of fermented foods. Sunrise Mart has a wide range of such products, especially miso. I found natto in the frozen section - it comes in small box servings with a variety of sauces. I asked if they carried freshly prepared natto but was told they only carry the frozen form.

Because it was a hot summer day, we didn't get produce or anything frozen, but were happy to see they offer a good selection of both. While he was getting real food and pantry items, I perused the snack aisles and beer cases haha. While it's small in square footage, it makes the best out of the space so there's a wide variety of grocery products. I can't speak to the fish or butcher areas because we're a vegetarian household (he's vegetarian and I don't cook non-veg because of cross contamination concerns), but I thought that these sections looked good to me.
